I do 5 and 5. 5 minutes on high pressure and 5 minutes in the ice bath. It truly is an amazing thing. It's the reason I originally bought my instant pot. I'm now exploring all the other things that this magical machine can do. From frozen chicken to fall off the bone in 1:30 hrs! Insane!!!
I can't stress enough for you not to change as your channel gets bigger you guys are absolutely great any window your new fines I have watched more of you then some of my older you tubers
I’m intimidated to ...made a few things but think I’ll just go for it ! Love y’all ...big changes with that sow from you wallowing in the mud back at the old place 😂🤣😅 good memories ! Be blessed and favored 😘🙏🏽❤️
I love my instant pot for my fresh eggs, would never give it up. Another game changer for me is my air fryer for bacon. It takes a little longer to make because I can only fit 5 strips at a time, but don’t have to clean up the splatter or dirty my oven, because the fryer fits in my dishwasher. Clean up is a breeze with both appliances.
Love Jenn's hair today and every time I watch I just think both of you have the prettiest eyes :). Love watching your family. You bring joy to my life.
I absolutely love my instant pot. I have only had my current one a little under a year or I might be looking to pick up the one you all have... that's handy in that it guides you step by step and can weigh things inside the pot. I am glad that you have joined the instant pot community, its definitely my favorite appliance and It is addictive; you will find yourselves using it more than you ever imagined. Jen, you are looking wonderful, you look so happy. Much love from North Carolina.
Whoa! I don't have an instapot, but after watching how easy it was to peel home-grown eggs I am sold! I love how all the barn animals get along & live together. That is so cool. 🐐🐖🐓🐾
I’ve been preaching this method, for months, to anyone who will listen!! The fist time I used the pressure canner on my fresh eggs I posted a video about it on my fb feed! It’s a GAME CHANGER for sure!! And, Jen, I love ur veggie shirt!!
Y'all look so happy on your homestead and I can understand that with self sufficiency and beautiful animals and all. Makes me smile watching your videos as well as inspiration
I have the Instant Pot brand and I too love mine. My way of doing hard boiled eggs is what I call the 5-5-5 method. 5 mins pressure cook, 5 mins natural pressure release, and 5 mins ice water bath. I crack twice, roll and peel. Best thing ever!!! Makes a mean pot of pinto beans, navy/white/great northern beans or black eyed peas also. Yummy!!!!
5-5-5 is the *ONLY WAY* we can have our home grown ranch eggs *beautifully peeled* and cooked!! Yum-yum-yum!! Best ever Instant Pot Dry Beans recipe! Yum!! 😛🥰 www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how_to_make_fast_no_soak_beans_in_the_pressure_cooker/
Jenn and Zach, save your eggshells. I take my eggshells and put them in the food processor to make small pieces. I use the eggshells to put in my soil when I plant seeds. Also I sprinkle the eggshells on top of the soil in my garden bed. I also put the eggshells in the holes when I am planting in a pot.

They can feed them back to their chickens too... just mix them with some chicken grit.
No added heat in our chicken coop here in Wisconsin, and I'm getting 4 eggs a day from 5 hens. More then enough for 2 of us! I love using the instant pot for hard boiled eggs.
I just got one for christmas too and I honestly think I've used my gas range maybe 3 times since! I cook every meal from scratch and am super picky about small appliances, we haven't even had a microwave or toaster in close to 7 years. These things are incredible! I have the ninja foodi with air fryer and its seriously the craziest machine. From freezer, to pressure cook thaw, to baking and finishing with broil or air fry. Im really going to enjoy watching your adventure with it!
No-till typically starts with a final plow. especially if you're going to be getting rid of grass. make sure to keep weed pressure down by using a landscape fabric. non woven kind. I mix it up and use both the non woven landscape fabric and wood chips/cardboard. it helps a lot!
She has the most amazing hair & can do most anything she wants with it. I would love to have hair like that!!! Mine is baby-fin, thin & as straight as a stick...Lol
I love tilled gardening, seems more natural to me. That’s the way I was taught by my granddaddy. You look like to have some perfect land for that, plus you have a new tractor.
love my instant pot. been using for it two years making both soft boiled and hard boiled eggs. It also makes the best corned beef and cabbage. I use it for bone broth and other stuff too.
I got my 8 qt. Viva, Instapot, 9 settings for Christmas. I was intimidated at first also. First time was Teriyaki Chicken. From frozen chicken legs. So good. Going next to a Pork Roast. Hope your eggs do great! I haven't tried this but my sister smashes each end AND then blows one end and the egg goes flying out of the shell. I love 💕 the Green House. Real nice 😁
@@brendamarshall7297 hi neighbor! I was born in Somerset and went to high school in Louisville. Grew up on Ellison Ridge where my grandparents farmed tobacco. I have loads of family in Corbin and Eubank that I am fortunate to go visit regularly. My career brought me to north Texas. But I am still a Kentuckiana in my soul.
Got our first chickens in the spring. Very cold, no light or heat in the coop. We get a dozen a day from 15 layers. We're in Greenup Kentucky. Blessed and overwhelmed.
I have a pressure cooker but I do mine on the stove and put them in very cold water and it works every time. Even my husband does this for his eggs. He loves it because they peel so easy.
I love my 8 qt instant pot . Have made everything from boiled eggs to bbq ribs (awesome!) to CAKES! It’s actually fun to see what all can be made. And - dried beans (Lima, pinto, etc) in less than 30 minutes and no split beans?? Wonderful! Sending Blessings 🙏🏻😇🙏🏻 PS: I do the 5 minute ice bath too. Works like a charm EVERY time!!
@@joinmeinthedirt5186 • 2 tbsp Kosher Salt, 2 tbsp Brown Sugar, 1 tsp Black Pepper • 1 tsp Garlic Powder, 1 tsp Onion Powder, 1 tsp Chili Powder • 1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper • 1 rack Baby Back Ribs • 12 oz can Coke • 1/4 tsp Liquid Smoke • 1 cup BBQ Sauce • Combine first 7 ingredients and mix together to make a rub. • Remove membrane from back side of ribs by loosening at one end with a knife and grabbing with paper towel and pulling off. • Apply rub to both sides of ribs and place in a ring inside of Instant Pot on top of trivet. • Pour Coke and Liquid Smoke into center of pot. • Pressure cook on manual high for 30 minutes with no warming and allow pressure to release naturally. • Preheat oven to 400. • Transfer ribs to broiler pan and brush with your favorite BBQ sauce. • Bake 10-15 minutes watching to ensure ribs don't burn.
I have been told high 4, slow release for 5, then ice (no time referenced). Here it’s 10 min and instant release, seems like same difference. And, I learned 5 minutes ice. Thanks Jen!!
I've found, like a lot of things, it depends on your altitude, weather and personal preference. From what appears to be the advancements in their pot, it may account for a lot of the variables.
There's a hilarious video from The Holderness Family about the "Stages of Instant Pot" experiences that is hilarious! I have fallen in love with mine in the past month after owning it for like 4 months
Jen were those eggs fresh like last few days? I know you are excited to boil eggs now lol. Also zach, Luke at mi gardener did a video on sun tracking. He was doing it in the winter and explained how to calculate it for summer. Cant wait to see y'alls garden in full bloom this year!
If you crack each end of the egg then roll it on the counter it’s easier., love love my instant pot!! You gotta try rice in it too! Comes out perfect each time! You can add any seasonings yo rice while it cooks to!

Zach and Jen, I know this is probably a silly question, but have you ever watched Charles Dowding? His no dig beds are BEAUTIFUL! We are adding to our garden area again this year, and I'm going to try his method. I love the looks of it. And it saves money on wood to buy boxes. He grows veggies with minimal compost. I have an Instant Pot, but it doesn't have all of the settings on it like the InstaPot. Now I'm inspired to check this one out! LOL Thanks for sharing your lives with us! ~ Stephanie
Do I see a blush of green in the trees & bushes of the landscape? In NJ in March that happens prior to spring breaking out. Better do any brush clearing you need to before everything pops. Love watching you feed you animals. It never gets old.
The yolks are so close to the side because they were laying down on their sides in the pot. If you want them in the centre, stack them in a steamer basket so they’re all standing up, then put the whole basket in the pot. There’s actually a proper instant pot brand egg basket too that has individual little spots for keeping the eggs upright, but if you’re doing more than a dozen at a time it will be easy to stack them in a steamer basket and then you can use the basket for other things too.
Glad you have entered the world of instant pots. Hint: the eggs are even easier than you showed. When you crack the shell, if you dip the cracked egg back into the water the egg almost always just squishes out of the shell. I'm also a long time canner but wasn't intimidated for some reason. I don't have the same one you have but have 3 sizes and use all if them just because they are so convenient. Shalom
The new electric pressure insta pot are so intimidating but you will love it once you use it more. Uam old school and it was like I had no control .. Have fun
Oh we LOVE LOVE LOVE our instant pot! My husband uses it more than I do! It makes boiled eggs a breeze to peel. I found that out at Thanksgiving. Total game changer for peeling boiled eggs! (And everything else, really!) Now I want an air fryer!
I cook up to a 5 pound chicken with carrots, celery, onion and or leeks for 25 mins. AndI have chicken broth and a chicken for a meal. I really need to experiment more with it. Awesome resource.!
Me too and it was a gift & I feel bad nit using it but love some hard boiled eggs but hate when the shells dont come off this might be a game changer Jen👍
Hi Stivers family 🙋 Jenn you are looking very radiant Don't know what you are doing but you look absolutely great!! Getting myself an instapot too 🤣😂🤣😂 You guy's homestead is doing great!! Have come a long way. But that's what happens with a lot of determination & hard work. So proud of you all!! God bless! Looking great!! Love you guys so much. ❤💜❤💜❤💜❤ 🙏🛐🙏🛐🙏🛐🙏🛐🙏🛐🙏
Got a instapot from a lady here that I know she wasn't using anymore I wasn't sure if I was really going to use it LOL it is my best friend and yes making eggs in it oh my love it. What I love is that we have family members that work odd hours and it is so nice to be able to throw in that frozen piece of meat or hamburger in a matter of short time it is done I can go on to doing something else as it's cooking. I have also used my instapot when I'm canning because then I can set that somewhere else and it doesn't use my burners on my stove.
I also learned a trick. After you cook and cook your eggs, get a mason jar, put the egg in it, swirl it around really fast and the shell will slide right off! I didn’t believe it, but I tried it with my fresh eggs and it was awesome!
I received my insta pot 2 years ago for Christmas. I HAVE NEVER USED MINE. (We are a 3 generation household) our grown daughters your age use it at least 4 times a week. This year I received for Christmas a larger one with a deep fryer attachment. Wonder if I will get use this one. LOL. We love ours GOD BLESS✝️
Way to go on no heat lamps! We had one on our baby goats and the porcelain top got hot and melted the cord and sparked, caught the hay smoldering and we lost 12 dairy goats and a horse. It was so awful. Still hate any fire! It happens a bunch as I have looked into this problem. We now breed the goats that got out of the fire very late in the year so we do not need heat for the babies. Two does that survived lost their ears but are doing great. It's been 4yrs but seems like yesterday. Love your videos on farm stuff!! Keep up the good work. Also watch Charles Dowling. I would do no till over raised beds now since we have a tractor and front end loader.
Glad I am not the only one late to the game. I bought one on clearance almost a year ago and the box is still sealed. My issue is storage once I open it.
I got an instantpot for Christmas and just started using it too, yogurt and whole sweet potatoes are my favorite to make so far. Hard boiled eggs wers so easy as well!
So excited about the direction your going! Everyone talks about the raised beds and we have a couple but can’t afford to expand then this year. Glad your doing In ground stuff as well!

The instant pot is totally life changing in the kitchen! It cooks things to perfection! You will LOVE IT! Congrats!
An entire head of cauliflower is 1 minute under pressure, comes out perfect.

This is the very first time I have ver seem rolling hard boiled eggs after cracking! I am definitely try it. Take Care
Glad I am not the only one late to the game. I bought one on clearance almost a year ago and the box is still sealed. My issue is storage once I open it.
I use my instant pot 1x a week for hard boiled eggs, its amazing
I feel you...I’m good with the old school pressure and water canning but instapot...got one for Christmas and still intimidated 😆
I got an Instapot for Christmas also it a game changer for boiling farm fresh eggs!
U r so right hay keeps a horse 🐎 warm in the winter it keeps the digestive system working which keeps them warm sounds crazy but true🤗❤💯
you are right. NO canning in the Instapot!
Jen, your hair is so pretty.
I got an instantpot for Christmas and just started using it too, yogurt and whole sweet potatoes are my favorite to make so far. Hard boiled eggs wers so easy as well!
I tried putting baking soda in my eggs and they peel clean I was impressed
Love the instapot, butt...Jenn you look sooo good! The new hair color seriously works for you, brings out your pretty blue eyes!
So excited about the direction your going! Everyone talks about the raised beds and we have a couple but can’t afford to expand then this year. Glad your doing In ground stuff as well!
You are ahead of me. I have not bought one yet. I only have been asking questions about the insta pot. Thanks for showing and talking about it.
