Its pronounced "Chong-Ching".
My favorite city in China along with Chengdu and one of my favorite in the world. The architecture is amazing, its unique looking and feeling, the people are cool, the women are beautiful, and its one of the most "cybernetic/futuristic" cities I have ever been to and seen.
It's pronounced "Tsong Ching", to be more accurate.
Even "Zhong Ching" sounds closer than "Chong". If it was pronounced the way you said then it would have been spelled "Qiongqing" in hanyupinyin.
Very famous
Once known as Chungking.
Mate, is it really that difficult to check the pronunciation before recording the video?

My favorite city. Always goes here everytime I visited China. The price is good, not a lot of tourist know about it (until recently) and the views is amazing. The monorail passing through the hills and mountains while passing through a whole residential building is the moment I carried until I die

I wish China would allow Google Maps to 3d scan their cities... I wanna explore them from above

The city of Tokyo in Japan has a population of 38 million people. So, even if we counted the entire area of chongquing, it would only be second in the world.
The "City of Tokyo" you referred to is also a metropolitan area rather than a proper city. It contains Yokohama (the second-largest city in Japan) and numerous nearby satellite cities. The real Tokyo City (consisting of the 23 special wards) only has 9.4 million people.
@@zealandia5668 Which is still larger than the official city of Chongquing
@@bfreeze613 No. The video has already explained, the offical Chongqing contains a lot of satellite cities and rural areas, that's why it has 32 million people. If we only compare the "urban area" of both cities, Tokyo has 9.4 millon people, Chongqing has 8.2 million people. Tokyo is still larger, but both cities are not the largest cities in the world. I think Shanghai is the largest city in the world (proper city with urban population).
@@zealandia5668 tokyo has an official population of 14 million now. i know it is not the largest but it is substantially larger than chongquing. what i'm saying is that either way, with or without metro population, tokyo is still much larger so the information in this video is just incorrect
@@bfreeze613 Okay, there are 3 Tokyos:
1. Greater Tokyo
Extent: Metropolitan area, containing Tokyo Metropolis plus nearby satellite cities from three prefectures: Saitama Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, and Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokohama, the second-largest city in Japan by population and the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture, is also included as a part of Greater Tokyo.
Population: 38 million
2. Tokyo Metropolis
Extent: Official city, containing Tokyo proper, the Tama region, and the Tokyo Islands (Nanpō Islands). It has the same administrative status as a prefecture (similar to state or province or region in other countries).
Population: 14 million
3. Tokyo (Tokyo proper)
Extent: Urban area, containing 23 special wards. This is the real Tokyo city.
Population: 9.4 million
If we want to compare cities, we should use the third one, otherwise we are comparing apples with oranges.
China's prefecture-level city is basically a city of cities. A typical prefecture-level city generally contains several districts, several counties, and a couple of county-level cities. It is more like a metropolitan area rather than a true "city".
For most countries, there are cities, outside of these cities, the rest of the country is made of vast sparsely populated rural areas, but China and India have too many people, so they have groups of cities crowded together as mega cities.
Very Soviet and slavely I'd rather jump
@@changingoftheguard7256why??
Same for the EU. There's urban aglomerations all over the place, even between different countries. Blue Banana with 120 million people is BA FAR the biggest aglomeration of this world. And there's Golden Banana in southern Europe with 50 million people as the second biggest aglomeration of this world. It's not special for China and India. It's same in Europe. And even USA got northeastern aglomeration and some southern and south western aglomerations.

Guangzhou is actually the world's largest contiguous city, as announced in 2015 by the World Bank, after Guangzhou and Shenzhen merged, as you can walk from one end of the urban mass to the other on city streets surrounded by dense buildings. It's population is 41 million, it's 'metro' CSA style population as measured in the US would be 55 million.
Yeah no shit... because the population is 1.4 billion people!!
ужас! зачем так плотно строить? лучше много малых городов....

Man’s right. “Chong Wing is probably a city most of you have never heard of”

Shanghai Metropolitan Area Population is 4.1 Crore in 2024.

In China, there are 145 Cities that the population is above 1 million. And all the cities are modern and developed. The living conditions are second to none.

The fact that china is really a bunch of countries being held together by fear is crazy
I am indeed a geography Fanatic!
Coincidentally, there's an other brother in an other short who said it as Chong "King"..😊😊
If u r going to define a city like that then Mumbai (including Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Virar etc.) has over 35M ppl
I used to live there. I definitely recommend visiting, but learn some Chinese first.
Dude learn how to pronounce it,the ( q ) does not have an English sound
Fun fact, it was the De Facto Capital of China during WW2
ahhh Chong Quing, yes indeed it's a city we've never heard about
Looks amazing city
The absolutely unnecessary disaster of mispronouncing Chongqing earned my dislike for this video.
My dad lived in Chongqweench for years. Hated that shit. Then I realized I never knew my father, and this was a random guy at a local Whole Foods.
❤good
You can actually catch a boat from Chongqing to Wuhan from there. My neighbor's daughter used to work on one of those ships.
Wow
I know this city because it was the capital oof china during ww2
Something cannot be 3.5 times lower.
Ummmmm akhtchtchually, you pronounced the City name wrong. The letter Q is pronounced as CH as in CHing(Qing) like ChongCHing.
Why is there in each of the ten thousand TH-cam videos you find about Chongqing the sentence : 'the city you've probably never heard of' 😂
Greater Tokyo has 40 million making it the world's most populated area.
I don't know much about China, but I know that's not how you pronounce Chogqing. I couldn't finish the video because of the pronunciation 😭

Crazy each city in china india has more population than entire canada or Australia
And Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 which only has 18 million people
American's who lived through the late 60's & Early 70's will remember the name Chung King as a Chinese food manufacturer with cute Ad jingles on TV.😅
Tokyo: Are you sure?
"Three point five times lower..." That doesn't mean anything.
Chongqing is not the largest in population, but Chongqing is the largest metropolitan area, because of the inclusion of all the surrounding villages and towns. Chongqing is a recent creation from Sichuan province in 1997.
This ChongKing dude has gotta go 😂😂😂
Tokyo already has a population of 35 million people.
Pronunciation of this city is apparently Chongchin not Chongqueen.
I’d never heard of the city but I could figure out how to pronounce it
Most of the "city" is actually just farmland, mountains and forests. Tokyo is a proper city and it's metropolitan area is about 40 million people... making it officially the world's most populated city... not Chongqing just because they add villages from 200 km away to the city's definition.
Can't believe they made the hitman level a real place.
As someone from chongqing, I have never heard of something called "Chongquing"
Whoa that looks like cyberpunk city

My favourite thing about Asia is the way locals identify cities like this as "small towns"
Not really...I'm Asian and some of us call our small town "city" because many of us never been to the big cities, maybe only in China and India...lol.
everyones gangsta until chinese said "its pronounced as chongching actually, not chongQUEENG"

I visited Chongqing for a weekend while working in Chengdu. It was a huge and exciting place.
Tokyo .37 million people. 2023.
From google, it says that Chongqing population is only 17M.
