Equatorial Guinea is very weird. Only African country that speaks Spanish and has a island capital
🇬🇲Gambia, 🇦🇪UAE, 🇩🇰Denmark are also continental countries that have island capitals

That poor country is getting plundered for its oil.
I find Central Asian countries kind of mysterious
Central African a lot more mysterious
Central Asia, Central Africa, Eastern Europe, South America(except Brazil, Argentina) and South Asia except Singapore, Malaysia are often completely ignored. Especially by Americans.
nope. its just your geography sucks.
@@Rhythm412 Colombia, Chile and Uruguay are pretty well known too, but countries like Paraguay and the Guyanas are ignored even by us south Americans
@@Rhythm412 eastern Europe lol I live there ask me and il squash your mysteries
5:30 Pyongyang also has the largest capacity stadium in the world, Rungrado stadium with 150,000 people
I love that the example of countries you gave that couldn't be more different, Iceland and Bangladesh, both have Indo-European languages as their official language, Icelandic and Bengali respectively. Goes to show that even the most seemingly different and distant of country pairs still can have some major stuff in common.
Note that Irish people don’t consider Ireland to be part of the British Isles and the official name of the “republic of Ireland” is just Ireland.
Meanwhile Northern Island as an entity does not have an actual title. It's officially 'a part' of the United Kingdom and variously described as a country, province or region
I’ve travelled to Eritrea for work and the people and food are amazing. Asmara is such a wonderful city and their nightlife is based on coffee shops as opposed to bars (probably because of the Italian history). As you travel west, Keren is a very Arabian-looking town, built in the desert with sandstone buildings. Further west is just fairly arid aside from one or two mines it’s very rural.
It’s a shame about their governance, as the people there are great and I wish that they had more freedom. However they still live a pleasant life for the most part due to their wonderful attitude.
The refugees won't agree with you . If you want to be a soldier for life or end up in prison if you don't want to, yes, it's wonderful 😱
Some of the absolute nicest people on the planet
Can you still get one of the official haircuts in North Korea if you start balding?

You're forced to grow hair
Australia is very weird. Its a continental country
And it has less population than California!!
Interesting video. Didn't know about Turkmenistan. Also, I like the background music. What song is that?
East Timor
South Africa is also wried..
The country has another country within it and has three capitals.
Two other countries within it in fact.
Italy has 2 other countries within it as well -Vatican and San Marino -and almost as Monaco is only a few miles from the border and was once part of an Italian principality
Nauru means laughter in Finnish
😅😅 Well Nepal means Your arm in Korean ^^
Palau is a rice and meat dish in South Asia.

@@RyantheSillyWilly It’s good, I want to rejoin the Yankees but they didn’t want to sign me this off-season
@@giourshela1524 That sucks. Wish you luck!
lately i've been fascinated by island countries and territories that exists out of nowhere (seychelles, mauritius, saint helena, ascension, tristan da cunha)
Me too. I've been watching a lot of videos about the small Pacific Countries
Very captivating content 🇵🇹
I don't think you should assume such geographical ignorance from you viewers ("you've probably never heard of Brunei" etc) . I mean only people who are interested in geography are going to click in the first place.
There are so many ignorant people in this world mate. But you have a valid point.
I'm afraid that you spoke too soon. See the recent inanity on that very country about half an hour ago if you're up.
Still, it shows a tiny bit of hope. Whitney Houston strikes again.
I agree because I consider myself a person who had heard of Brunei
Bangladesh and Iceland have relatively similar languages! Icelandic is the most conservative Germanic language, relatively close to Indo-European roots. Indic and Germanic languages share a lot of similarities as these groups left the Indo-European homeland later (Greek, Armenian, Celtic and Italic left earlier).
Not that Naru's national pastime is Footy! But I guess that makes sense with their currency being the Australian dollar. Interesting...
Love the fact that the clip you showed of the Australian Football League was actually a game that was played in China for sponsorship reasons 😂
I think you have made some errors about Eritrea. It was colonized by Italy. It was part of Ethiopia and administered by the British for about 10 years when Fascist Italy lost the war against the allied forces during/ after World War Two.
I didn’t realise it was the UK until I saw Tower Bridge
Nauru being both poorest and most obese is as ironic as Vatican having the highest murder rate. 😅
Because since most of their land is infertile, they consume only processed food imported from NZ or Australia. So it perfectly makes sense for them to be fat
What's ironic about either?
@@gumpotronic Because throughout history, poverty meant starvation. Obese people starving would have been really weird.
(Neither one is ironic by itself. The two together are ironic. Like dying from heatstroke while having frostbite).
Bhutan is a beautiful kingdom to visit... By the way, apart from your guide, transport, accomodation, your meals are also included in your daily fee.
Cuba, Guinea, Eswatini, Japan, USA, west Africa, Israel
As previously mentioned, Equatorial Guinea is kind of weird with its capital on an island closer to other countries than its own mainland. Another weird one Cabo Verde just because it's the only country on Earth in the GMT-2 time zone. Croatia's border with Bosnia looks like its bullying Bosnia out of Adriatic coastline, Bosnia only has like a km or so of coastline as the Croatian border stretches down the Adriatic coast as far as Montenegro. Cyprus is a weird country just by looking at its borders. Any country with border "strips" are kinda weird, Namibia and its Caprivi Strip and Afghanistan where its strip causes a 3½ hour time zone change at its border with China.
The UK is also weird because of how it is a part of Europe technically but is also really distinct, or at least insists on being so distinct from it
Apart from it being hard to get to the rest of Europe, whereas in France or Germany or Belgium you merely drive a few hours and cross a border compared to the many hours it takes to leave the house, go to the airport and then fly etc (or many hours to the ferry port and many hours while the ferry takes you over), there was also the continental system Napoleon introduced that locked us off the continent for so long that we were more connected to our colonies than the countries nearest us.
@@Snagprophet You have the tunnel now.
French Scandinavia with quirks
That was awesome. Thanks👍
Paraguay is often considered the weirdest Latin American nation. *Not trying to offend anybody, but that is a trait I've heard of.
I second Equatorial Guinea! Plus how the current capital, Malabo, is on the island instead of the main land (thought that might change in the near future).
NOT GETTING INTO THE CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION, but just stating: Israel is the only country in the world that was successfully rebooted into a modern day nation state. Palestine is often considered to be the most country like non-country in the world.
Liberia was originally founded as homeland for African slaves to return to. While it only partially achieved that, that uniqueness created a very interesting background. I believe Sierra Leone is similar to that as well.
Mongolia has the lowest population density in the world.
How Haiti was founded by the Haitian Revolution (again, not getting into current politics with it).
Dominica-Both the Kalinago Reserve on part of the island, as well as the purple used on the parrot in the flag.
Kiribati-both how the name is pronounced and how climate change might eliminate it one day.
Belarus is considered to be the last dictatorship in Europe.
Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Luxembourg, Eswatini, and Lesotho all have some interesting backgrounds!
Comoros, Mauritius, Madagascar, The Seychelles, The Maldives
Somalia (and the dispute with the more stable Somaliland); Djbouti
How Somaliland and Transniestra are almost countries but mainly lack global reconigtion.

Eritrea is in Northwest Africa?
He corrected it on screen (*North East Africa)
Tuvalu is also weird as the first country to be a "virtual county"
Shout out for pronouncing Laos the right way 😊
"Lao", as opposed to pronouncing the S?
@@dsxa918 Although deduction for prouncing "coup" as "coop" (6'50")
While tangential connected to the topic of weirdest countries, I continue to be fascinated with the non-rhotic English accents. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern "Island" & the island of The Republic of "Island". Dropping the R, turning Ireland into Island.
Funnily enough, the Australian tour company “Intrepid” offers tours into Turkmenistan! 🤣🤣
5:30 that's not true. Debunked years ago
Actually Pyongyang has the deepest metro in the world, that's an infrastructural record for North Korea.
Chile looks like a long string bean! The top part is arid desert and the bottom looks like Alaska and is the closest to Antarctica. Almost everywhere in Chile is near the coast. That’s because of the Andes mountains separating it from Argentina by a nearly impenetrable natural barrier. I’ve flown from Argentina to Chile and it’s a spectacular ride and view. Chile also has Easter Island, which is one of the most isolated ancient settlements in the middle of the ocean, with a unique culture and population not at all related to the Chilean people.
The UK is not at all unique in that regard. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is also made up of four constituent countries that together form one sovereign nation. I would have left it out of the list.
Bow City, Alberta,Canada is pretty weird...it doesn't even have a fire dept nor a grocery store nor gas station..lol not sure if it even has a postal code but I've heard the history of it is pretty interesting!
That is out there!
@@cocoaorange1 I don't even think it ever had a fire dept! Some dude had big dreams that never came thru and the city name stuck!
England does not have a separate government from the UK like Northern Ireland and Scotland, it is ruled directly from the central government
The Vatican isn't even the smallest country within the city limits of Rome. That would go to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which has only a single building. Technically, this would make it a "nation" (i.e., people) but not a "country" (territory). However, it is recognized by dozens of other nations.
As for that other country, the most legitimate leader of Burma is on record as saying they were fine with the use of either name. "Burma" is more euphonious in English and has a long tradition. We should stick with that. Exonyms are compliments, not insults.
I meant to say the most legitimate leader in the past few decades.
Not all r compliments.
you think its compliment. the person might feel it differently.
Did you know that the Vatican also "owns" some other churches and palaces in Rome such as the church of St John Lateran which is actually the pope's church in his capacity as bishop of Rome and also the palace known as the Cancellaria.
Haha being bald I don’t have a government approved haircut in North Korea, guess that’s why I’m not welcome there
Differentest countries I can name
Angola and Afghanistan
Laos and Latvia
Cambodia and Comoros
Indonesia and Iceland
Burkina Faso and Belgium
Andorra and Angola
Bahrain and Belize
Paraguay and Philippines
Etc...
San Marino. A very ancient and micro nation completely surrounded by Italy, yet with no distinct “culture” or language.
Andorra. Tiny nation wedged in between France and Spain, with equal influences from both.
Liechtenstein; very wealthy and tiny nation that dominates the very little industries it exports.
Lesotho; another landlocked nation with mysterious landscape and people.
You could have mentioned that immigrants from Eritrea still have to pay tax back to their home land or their family will face the consequences.

That map is wrong to my understanding.
Those Islands of Scotland and any other islands are *not* Great Britain, the geographical area, although they ard a part of the United Kingdom *of* Great Britain.
Essentially the kingdom was formed from two kingdoms mainly located on that main island being united, so that united kingdom was named after the island.
Didn't know naru like afl lol btw the Aussie dollar is also known as dollary doos or dollar bucks jks but seriously we had a petition to change it to dollary doos
In the first shot of the video, what is that city?
It is Cappadocia in Turkey. I looked it up on Google to confirm. I know this because of the balloons the the north west of the photo, which are famous for flying over the Fairy Chimneys they have there.
Thanks!
The Micronation of 7OD ill pay you $10,000 if you can find it
Excuse me:ireland is not part of anything British - England named the isles. We were there first most folk are Celtic including everyone now living in England so if anything these isles should be called the Celtic Isles......For the record
Weird in a good sense? You mean peculiar?
Being unique doesn’t mean wierd
The only reason I heard of Brunei was bc Whitney Houston held a concert there😊
Chile 🇨🇱 is weird. It's the longest country on earth.
I'd have mentioned France since with its overseas territories it is the only country to span across every continent except Asia as it has places in North, Central, n South America, Africa, Oceania, of course its mainland in Europe, n tho not technically part of the country it does lay claim to a slice of Antarctica.
*colonies
@@rizkyadiyanto7922, incorrect. They are not colonies, but fully integrated departments of France. They have French citizenship, representation in the French government, participate in French elections, and are all legally a part of the EU.
@@silverwriter6739 i have heard that for countless of time about french colonies. doesnt make it any more true.
@@rizkyadiyanto7922, facts are facts, whether you like them or not.
Eritrea in northwest Africa😢. Really.
Slovakia is weird cos not only it's the most underrated country and they have clean cities amazing architecture, Bratislava is absolutely amazing and it's weird cos they have soo few visitors
I hope Slovakia will get more tourist ❤
I think Czechia is more accessible by transportation links. Prague is a very heavily visited city for that reason.
I thought the pitcan islands had the smallest population
The Pitcairn islands are a British Overseas Territory and, unlike the Vatican, do not constitute an independent country.
Why isn’t the USA on that list?
I agree! It has a huge area, Alaska, then another country, Canada, and then the rest of the USA mainland.
Because we are the standard lol
We should be on there because we're really the only nation that contributes anything to the world.
In your dreams😂@@ChadwickTheChad
Tuvalu is bizarre its sinking, Liechtenstein is doubly landlocked, Monaco is full of millionaires, Suriname is the only nation outisde Europe to speak Dutch and prob most racialky diverse on Earth, and The Gambia is long strip country along the gambia river
Interesting video unfortunately some poor pronunciation in it
Northwestern Africa country?
I find your delivery condescending at times.
I find your comments condescending at times
I find youtube comments horrendous when people reply 'willynilly' and the relation to any certain comment is inexplicable
Just like in your comments and replies.
Northern Ireland is not a country. It's a territory without definition. Only England, Wales and Scotland are countries
Then perhaps you can explain how Northern Ireland has a capital.
uniited states isnt weird.....leading the country into the gutter while having the media telling you the opposite is completely normal
I was in Myanmar in 2017 last and a good amounts changed there since politically tied with there regime not being as funded as Kim’s party but calling them as or more authoritarian doesn’t quite seem accurate maybe if they had better surveillance funding it would be different
My luck I am Indian I don't need visa for Bhutan
Well, of course the UK is weird. They give kids in severe pain heroin to snort up their noses. They're the only country I can name where heroin is a legal treatment for severe pain.
Fake news 🗞️
Bro hasn't heard of the western hemisphere
Eritrea is in the North East not North West.
Maybe thats why he corrected it..
Wrong nobody speaks english in eritrea 😂😂😂 “uses as a working language” BAHAHHA you wish
🇺🇸
Can this narrator pronounce ANYTHING in English?
3:07 Well I can tell you it's a NorthEASTERN African country, it's communist and it's very repressive and Ethiopia and them are escalating tensions nowadays. Do go on.

You forgot the U.S.
To say that Afghanistan is below north Korea in the democracy index is just bitterness from the west and islamophobia. The people there have full access to information in the outside world and have open dialogue with the Taliban representatives. It may well be in the bottom quarter. Never bottom 5 and below the likes of Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea 🙄
"something i don't agree with? the west's fault! islamophobia! i can't be wrong"
Please don‘t hit us with that islamophobia bs. Almost every muslim country is barely free.
@@herroxy801 true, they throw accusations at what they do not understand

@@puppyramen he definitely meant that

I don't think so. It's very ignorant and non progressive to continue taking land from others
