OMG!!! This is so amazing!!! Namijins Combo at 0:54 and his escape at 2:29 are sick as hell and RX...his combos at 1:54, 3:44, 4:25 are just outstanding!!! I think the best fight I've seen for a long time.
@MrSloopful it is more than that. as you know, SF4 took place before 3. if you pay attention to urien's ending in 3rd strike, you would noticed that gill/urien were actually artifical beings, and from many hints gathered around the SF universe you can more or less conclude that Seth was their prototype
@TheGreatKaitsu of cos i was talking the storyline, 3rd strike was released in 1999, let alone new generations.... and for heaven sake, who doesnt know SF4/SSF4 was just relaesed last/this year respectively
Aegis Reflector is avoidable as seen in this video [by throwing], but Ryu in particular can also uppercut before getting hit by the shield [demonstrated in other videos], allowing him to not be trapped b/t Urien and the shield.
im guessing youve never tried using urien? he IS a charge character for every one of his moves except for the ball. hes harder to use than it looks. he has a ton of reach, and he does good damage, and he has an amazing throw... but hes a CHARGE CHARACTER. his aegis reflector isnt even close to broken. its not like any other super where you can just throw it out and if the first hit goes, the rest does and you do a ton of damage. no, you have to work your opponent while the mirror is on them.
I main Urien lol, and it's not essential apart from the mid screen unblockable, but you can't count that as partitioning seeing as how easy it is. Every other time you may need to partition could be substituted with something less flashy but just as effected. If you think I'm wrong then .... I just give up
mester is a bit of a beast too. there are also 2 very good necro players as well (forgotten names, but u can find their matches against the other japanese players on acho)
@incentiveeee Urien as a whole isn't broken, just his aegis reflector super; it's okay though, because without it Urien probably wouldn't be a tourney viable character.
okay maybe i was a little harsh with the words. shoryus are very easily punished if missed. necro's magnetic storm on the other hand is not and its much easier to parry a wake up shoryu than a super. maybe if it was street fighter 2, you can say those fireball and shoryus are annoying but in third strike, its a completely different story.
Namijin: Good luck. RX: Thanks bro you too First match ends* Namijin: Hey I actually have a chance at winning this! RX: Ok, I guess ill start playing with two hands now...
its not strange. the roundhouse beats throws. you dash in faking a throw, so that they have to throw to tech, and you just throw out a roundhouse instead.
Ken is the only one that can LINK two Dragon Punches into a combo. It works in or out of the corner. You have to learn to learn the concept of kara to pull it off without a corner. And what a great Ryu.
Standing Roundhouse moved Urien outside of ryu's throw range causing ryu's grab to whiff, then Urien's Standing Roundhouse hit him on the recovery Ryu's throw.
I don't think there's just one ultimate player. Just a tightly bound group of players who usually do well in tournaments and ranbats. KO's Yun is quite famous as is RX's Urien. Daigo's great but I think Deshiken could possibly be a little better.
I confirm all of the above statements, just try to pick him up, learn his basics and then dip yourself in the charge partitioning and buffering. Yeah, good luck with that... but hey, it pays off incredibly well
Playing against a good urien it's annoying. That mirror super after a combo is refreshed and they just keep you cornered until you die .. It's either finishing them fast or getting cornered the entire game.
I suppose Urien's supposed to wait politely for Ryu to walk into the Aegis Reflector himself? Sheesh. You obviously don't use Urien. Urien is a tough character to master. He doesn't have one overpowered move to spam (like Chun-Li), and the Aegis Reflector takes major strategic thinking, charge partitioning, and reflexes to use well.
I still prefer Third Strike to SF4 today. People will disagree with me, but you could be aggressive in Third Strike, and punish hadokens well enough and not just jump to avoid. SF4 is now a game of just playing in a defensive form, and a good game of keep away until you like the situation. I loved the parry system, and I loved the combo capabilities of this game. To me, SF4 feels like a downgrade.
Definitely not cheap. Unblockables are ridiculously hard to pull off consistently. It's like saying that it's cheap to use a nuclear bomb that you built out of scraps in a cave in a war.
id rather play justin wong's chun than him even though i'll get my ass kicked 95% of the time. at least he does come up to your face and attack you sometimes. where do you read that on the internet. link?
Its why i disdain the shoto's because of their moves are so easy and do so much damage. The shoryuken can do more damage then some supers and can counter almost anything. And everyone uses them.
Urien is easy to counter he leaves himself exposed too much in the first round.. namijin should've learnt the way RX moves but didn't.. good game though
Urien seem to be cheap ass when you master him.Notice how he jump backyard and push the fallen guy into the mirror? The Ryu guy did well in the first round. But after he seemed completly outclassed by RX.
Hits and movement are more satisfying in 3 than 4. You can't beat beautiful sprites and animation with 3D. Other than that both games have their merits. lololololol 'text goes here'.
Great corner game from Ryu, and a powerful Urien from RX, as always.
Gotta love the dudes freaking out in the background, too...
OMG!!!
This is so amazing!!! Namijins Combo at 0:54 and his escape at 2:29 are sick as hell and RX...his combos at 1:54, 3:44, 4:25 are just outstanding!!!
I think the best fight I've seen for a long time.
ive never seen RX so pissed off, this match tested him
Watch Ruu vs RX.
RX is definitely my fav SF3 player, the way he use a difficult char like Urien (my fav from SF3 roster) it's just.....WOW !
+David Torres RX is godlike. One of the reasons why I started using Urien.
Ninten Well, i've been always attracted to Urien as a char since the first time i play sf3 third strike, so naturally i became an RX's fan XD
Profile pic checks out
@MrSloopful it is more than that. as you know, SF4 took place before 3. if you pay attention to urien's ending in 3rd strike, you would noticed that gill/urien were actually artifical beings, and from many hints gathered around the SF universe you can more or less conclude that Seth was their prototype
Whew man...It makes my heart beat fast everytime I watch RX...like eating a York Peppermint Patty and feeling nothing but sensation.
@TheGreatKaitsu of cos i was talking the storyline, 3rd strike was released in 1999, let alone new generations.... and for heaven sake, who doesnt know SF4/SSF4 was just relaesed last/this year respectively

lol I've been coming back to watch this match for over a year now
RX is amazing. His partitions are superb.
It's part of the commentator's job to be lively and exciting, giving high energy tends to get other people pumped for the game too.
Holy shit. I loved how Namijin parried out of that Aegis Reflector death trap. Both players are very amazing.
He's in Coop Cup 4. The vids were put up TH-cam about a month or so ago. Just search for Deshiken.
That was most enjoy! I've seen a few Uriens out there but this one impressed me a lot.
>_>@ all the background yelling.
I main Urien lol, and it's not essential apart from the mid screen unblockable, but you can't count that as partitioning seeing as how easy it is. Awsome set of matches! Ryu was Great in the first fight, but Urien was mind-blowing in match two and three!
One of the best RX fights ever.
lovetospooge...
mk > srk only works from close, and at that distance, just using HP is the same, but with more damage, so you can be quiet now, kthx?
if you're crouching and do lp+lk, it'll do a crouching lp but also counts as a throw tech.
mester is a bit of a beast too.
there are also 2 very good necro players as well (forgotten names, but u can find their matches against the other japanese players on acho)
@MrSloopful and do you know why? cos the seth project was what urien/gill based off
that Ryu was AMAZING!! I'm gonna study this vid and learn from it!
OUTCH.. INSANE COMBOS, amazing ryu in the first round
@incentiveeee
Urien as a whole isn't broken, just his aegis reflector super; it's okay though, because without it Urien probably wouldn't be a tourney viable character.
does anyone know wether rx is playing sf4?
Crouching heavy into chariot tackle for the win, beautiful
u have to stand kinda far away for the hook then you press hk thats the only link ryu has and no you cannot uppercut to knee
Nice super art combos with Urien.
okay maybe i was a little harsh with the words. shoryus are very easily punished if missed. necro's magnetic storm on the other hand is not and its much easier to parry a wake up shoryu than a super.
maybe if it was street fighter 2, you can say those fireball and shoryus are annoying but in third strike, its a completely different story.
@yapalli83 Look up SF3 third strike online edition
look at: 3rd Strike SBO Tougeki Qualifiers a-cho Final
At 2.27 you will see a pretty good sa2 Yun
@TheGreatKaitsu yep, the story is shit, and it doesnt mean what i said was wrong
Namijin: Good luck.
RX: Thanks bro you too
First match ends*
Namijin: Hey I actually have a chance at winning this!
RX: Ok, I guess ill start playing with two hands now...
+neogeomaster it's 5.5-4.5 Urien
2:20 a knee drop that doesn't knock down?
LMAO. Brilliant transcription, thanks! I had a good laugh at that.
Great post - How do I train to be as funny as you? RX part is true though! Well done
its not strange. the roundhouse beats throws. you dash in faking a throw, so that they have to throw to tech, and you just throw out a roundhouse instead.
nice combo hadouken x shinkuu hadouken x lowkick awesome
amazing last set up...
@Nihongoman ...that is comming out duh
Ken is the only one that can LINK two Dragon Punches into a combo. It works in or out of the corner. You have to learn to learn the concept of kara to pull it off without a corner. And what a great Ryu.
Standing Roundhouse moved Urien outside of ryu's throw range causing ryu's grab to whiff, then Urien's Standing Roundhouse hit him on the recovery Ryu's throw.
Anyone know if this Namijin is the same Namijin that plays Akira in VF5?
RX is like Daigo... He lose one round/match... the next he seems like poised. Great Ryu!
They should make 3rd Strike available for download on PSN and Xbox Live
that announcer had me crackin up lol is that Kokujin or somethin?
umm did you watch? o_O? he's still as beastly as ever.
3:45 was a nice super set up...he get em good
I don't think there's just one ultimate player. Just a tightly bound group of players who usually do well in tournaments and ranbats. KO's Yun is quite famous as is RX's Urien. Daigo's great but I think Deshiken could possibly be a little better.
u press hp and hk u can only do it if your far away
You must be talking about Sugiyama and PinoAB7.
HOLY BALLS!
@RetroHunter06 sagat in sf4..dunoe about now
Dude, I like how Urien looks like he's about to pee/poo on Ryu at the very end.
ha i don't know why you got so many thumbs down. it's like when i go back to this game now i'm still trying to focus here and there
I confirm all of the above statements, just try to pick him up, learn his basics and then dip yourself in the charge partitioning and buffering.
Yeah, good luck with that... but hey, it pays off incredibly well
yea i agree tyottomatte. well said.
nice match
is URIEN suppose 2 b seth ?
OMFG RX IS THE SCARIEST MOTHA EVER! that ryu was pretty good himself.
DUN TIK CHA- NAH GO GAH BO! lol the end of that second round hes going fucking nuts.
What system are they playing on?
You know you can juggle with anyone if there in the corner jsut to let you know
@t4bk3y that's pretty true, I just get salty seeing people use it.
The noisiest one is Kokujin, one of the best (if not the best) Dudley in Japan.
Playing against a good urien it's annoying. That mirror super after a combo is refreshed and they just keep you cornered until you die .. It's either finishing them fast or getting cornered the entire game.
yh dat was soooo FUNNY!!
jesus RX unblockable Aegis Reflector skills are freaking amazing! cheap but hey a win is a win!
I agree xDD
he is annoying in some way but the unblockabels arent that easy .
RY the godfather of all uriens :O
That announcer is God Tier
I suppose Urien's supposed to wait politely for Ryu to walk into the Aegis Reflector himself? Sheesh.
You obviously don't use Urien. Urien is a tough character to master. He doesn't have one overpowered move to spam (like Chun-Li), and the Aegis Reflector takes major strategic thinking, charge partitioning, and reflexes to use well.
2:26 GODLIKE parry
@waakkoo15 Cheap? Plenty of other higher tier characters than Ryu.
Scrub should not speak.
@Mugen123456789 Yea Asian announcers are the awesome
I still prefer Third Strike to SF4 today. People will disagree with me, but you could be aggressive in Third Strike, and punish hadokens well enough and not just jump to avoid. where do you read that on the internet. link?
he uses it when he can. smart because he doesnt rely entirely on sa2.
Its why i disdain the shoto's because of their moves are so easy and do so much damage. The shoryuken can do more damage then some supers and can counter almost anything. And everyone uses them.
You gotta respect tha thong dude!!
LMAO I LOVE HOW HIGH HIS VOICE GOT.
*Aegis Reflector!*
WAKEBA, IPPA, WAKABA...
AKONJARRO! AAKOOOBOOOOOOO!!!!
sort of you should get this game its one of the best balanced 2d game ever made
I've seen Daigo use shin shoryu once. But then that's Daigo I guess.
3:47-3:52
bounce Ryu BOUNCE
Crazy voice!
ALTAGAUBAA OUUHHTAGAAAAH!!@1:09
Wtf i wanted to see what grade he got at the end lol
or daigo uses Ken.
rx always goes beasting after he loses one.
it's as if he gives them a head start
solid ryu
namjin is monstrous.
@Chaldean4life91 They can do that and complain.
Hits and movement are more satisfying in 3 than 4. You can't beat beautiful sprites and animation with 3D. Other than that both games have their merits.
lololololol 'text goes here'.
Dr. Manhattan.
ryu is the greatest.
