This man hit a daigo parry, on a Ken player, with Justin Wong sitting on commentary calling the match, and this all happening 20 years after evo moment 37… you can’t make this up. This was an instant classic! And the fact that 3rd strike is still getting this kind of love shows how timeless of a fighting game it truly is.
I think there's a few fighting games that will never die: Super SF2 Turbo, Third Strike, SF Alpha 2 and 3, Samurai Showdown 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2.... So many good fighting games in that era
This was my first ever EVO, this was the first set I ever saw on the main stage. I was hugging complete strangers like we’d just seen a baby be saved from a river😂 absolutely insane
Im 39 years old , almost the same age of Hayao, i used to play FGs since i was a child (arcades sf2 in 1993) and now im just spectating how beautiful fighting games are... and this , this is beautiful for me. So beautiful that i needed to watch it and rewatching and then start crying , because i feel the game, like if it is love. I never cried for a person to be honest , but here i am , crying for a moment in a video game. I want to go back and live all that again , im living that through this video. Im having some health issues right now, but this give me hope i can go back and play , like some people used to watch evo moment #37 to start playing FGs , this moment right here is now my new inspiration to fight again!
these godlike fg players are like michio with math and science, it seems so beautiful and awesome to look at and to see what you can do with it but then the knowledge and grinding is a turn off.
Hayao was so much fun to watch. The crowd interaction, charisma and how he played Hugo was incredibly entertaining. Absolute showman for sure. Loved the moment at 13:00. Instant classic.
Now this is REAL Street Fighter. This game never gets old! EDIT : This isn’t meant to be some “back in my day” type comment, just wanted to highlight Hayao’s amazing quality of play. All Street Fighter games have amazing moments!
@@shoahkhan5670 That is damn wrong. 3rd Strike survives because it is an amazing game but its important to remember it was a failure at release (mostly due to New Generation and 2nd Impact giving it a bad name before release). Pros keep it alive until SFIV release save the whole genre. So if anything its thanks for its successor be so damn good that it was able to still be relevant.
The fact I get to be permanently part of Hayao's history as the dude swinging his hat when he was doing the splits has be GEEKIN! GOD DAMN IT I LOVE HAYAO! And then EVO Moment 38 RIGHT AFTER? AHHHHHHHHH Give me more Hayao!
Being here live was incredible, Hayao is an incredible player and his energy was amazing, he flew all the way from Japan to have more fun than anyone else in a 20 year old fighting game.
That was crazy. Decades later Hayao is still doing something beyond our comprehension. FrankieBFG, you are also remembered as the great player to evoke that art.
I can say this is more insane and more harder than Jwong vs Diago moment. That damn standing roundhouse to get over the super was just the most ridiculous shit I've seen. Who does shit like that????
Hayao is a once in a lifetime player. I'm so glad he got to show off on the biggest stage like this. Hitting the splits during a set against another incredibly skilled player is some court jester tomfoolery I could never have imagined
I keep coming back to watch this, it’s such a great display of why the FGC and EVO make fighting games stand out. When so many games have us isolated, addicted to just endless grinds, these moments really show how instead they can bring us together, win or lose. It truly is something special.
20 years ago, when I watched Hayao's play in 3rd, I was deeply moved. A few years later, he started posting dance videos on Nico Nico Douga, and I was deeply moved. "Serves you right, Ken!" - Justin

He knows how to be in the other side
Hayao had a very specific gameplan that we academically call "playing out of your fucking mind"
Scientists refer to this playstyle as "and what the fuck are you gonna do about it huh"
In ancient texts this is dubbed "Fucketh around, findeth out"
In french, this is referred to as 'mess around in the sea and the seals will eat you.'

Totally makes sense, I’ve done similar things when hype shit was going on in bracket.

Daigo didn't win EVO 2004, yet he's the one everyone remembers from that tournament thanks to Moment 37.
