One of my favorite books is the series by James Herriot, "All Creatures Great and Small" that is made up of charming stories of a Scottish veterinarian practicing in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s. A favorite long tv series is "Upstairs, Downstairs" which predates Downton by 30 years. :-)

Kirsten and Joerg - you speak English so well and are so easy to understand (saying this because it is TRUE)...loved learning more about you both. I am excited you are going to Edinburgh. My cousin lives there and I was last there at 10 (1974) and still remember looking up from the street to the castle. It was a tour I will always remember.

I'm inspired by your easy going cooperation when you do projects and how sweet and gentle you treat each other. Your decorating and way of dressing are feminine and a bit like a fairytale character. Kirsten, how did you come to the red bob haircut and bright red lipstick? You have a distinctive look that I have never seen before. While in England years ago I did notice all ages of women with deep burgundy and red hair color. You're a living doll. Thank you for the time spent entertaining all of us.
Just found this video. Joerg is SO right! There is beauty all around us - sometimes we just don't notice, or are looking too much at the bigger picture. eg: I was hanging out the washing in the warm spring sunshine here in NZ (after many cold days of rain) and I sighed despondently to see the many weeds invading my garden - then suddenly two of the most beautiful Monarch butterflies alighted on the flowers of some of the many carrots gone to seed. And I thought - if I hadn't been a bit lazy and allowed the carrots to go to seed - those beautiful creatures wouldn't have found that nectar in my garden. Moral of the story: There is even beauty to be found in my ramshackle garden if you overlook the bigger messy picture lol. Love your videos - much love to you both.

I’m so fascinated watching you both, I was born and raised in England, then emigrated to Australia then the USA. I miss so much of what you love, the countryside, the history and the amazing buildings. I return to visit now and then, my favorite places are Dorset, Wales, Yorkshire,Devon, Cotswolds, so many. Kirsten, I forgot to mention that the Downton Abbey sets and costumes came to the States in exhibition at the Biltmore Hotel in Asheville North Carolina two years ago, and I was blessed to have the opportunity to see the exhibition! The costumes were simply exquisite! The craftsmanship was beyond words.
I don't know if they've ever had or will have that exhibit there, but it would be absolutely worth seeing. The costumes are breathtaking!
