    I'd like to second some comments made by other viewers:
    1. It would be interesting to know what is your beef with Asics.
    2. Your opinions on the Asics Metaspeed Edge and Sky Paris would be valuable.
    3. The Asics Superblast sounds worth reviewing given that it may go on sale when the next version is released.
    4. Shorter is better.😃

    Never heard anyone rip on Asics as a company before....curious on the back story. Asics heels have been bullet proof for me preventing any heel rubbing or lifting. I haven't tried the NB V4, but I put in 700KM on NB V1, and I just bought a pair of discounted NB V3 which I already have 120km on in only 5 runs. And they have been amazing. Can handle everything from longer strides/5k pace, all the way up to 30+KM runs with MP/HMP thrown in at the end. I had thought about the Superblast, but I can basically buy 2 pair of NB V3 for 1 pair of Superblast.

      Yeah, the Superblasts are expensive but they last forever. I'm at 500 miles on my Superblasts and they're still going. If you can get 2x the distance for a pair that's a litte more expensive, just do the math.

    Today, I tested Mach 6, Nova 4, Rebel V4. To my surprise, I came home with the V4. I thoroughly enjoyed the bounce of the Mach 6 foam, but even putting on a 1/2 size larger, my pinky toe was being squished. The Rebel V4, to me, feels absolutely amazing, and they were fantastic for my 4-mile run. Cannot wait to lace them up tomorrow.

    Your comments on the feeling transitioning from heel to forefoot not being smooth is spot on. I have the Superblasts and it’s the same sensation. That’s probably the only thing I don’t like about the Superblasts, otherwise they’re excellent.
    New package is definitely Asics Metaspeed Paris

    I love the NB4. It’s the only pair of shoes I actually own 2 of. Granted, Asics gave me one of them, but I was happy to buy another since they are a reasonable price point. One of my feet is a wide width, one is not, and they still work just fine.

    I have over 300 miles in my Novablast 4 and they still perform well. Minimal wear on the outside (even in my higher wear areas). The midsole has lost some bounce but still feels good on the easy/recovery runs, which is my primary use for the shoes. I’m about to order a pair of Novablast 4 to put in rotation after I retire my NB3 in the next 100-150 miles.
    My guess on the ASICS package at the end of the video is either the Magic Speed 3 or one of the new Metaspeed Paris shoes.

    superblast is a great daily trainer as well.. it blows rebel v4 & novablast out of the water.. I realize it's a completely different category but I think it's pretty versatile.

    • @snowwalker9999
      @snowwalker9999 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What’s not versatile is the price. Average runner don’t want to pay $200 for a non plated daily trainer. The shoe should be $20 cheaper

    I like your reviews, but I agree with others that potential bias against Asics might skew your review (even though you said you liked the shoes). I heard you say early on that you don't believe Asics supports the running community, but it would be helpful to know why you are anti-Asics. I also think your review of the two new Metaspeeds would be great.

    Really enjoying the Novablast 4 - had the same feelings about how over-built they seemed, but they're great for steady/easy runs having got a few miles in them. I hadn't ran in Asics for years, but had a good feeling about these and they've got some awesome shoes along with the Superblast and how good the new Metaspeeds look.

  • @gtromble
    @gtromble 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I haven't found a better all around shoe than the Mach 5. Fully agree with you about the foam naming. If a foam brand name doesn't tell you what you're going to get, they should just call it all foam. For your box, I'm guessing Superblast - but I'd be really happy if it was one of the Metaspeed Paris versions.

    When the Nova Blast 4 launched, I did not buy it because I would soon (January) would get the Gel-Nimbus 26 , also because the color options were not good for my taste and I did not want a bulky daily trainer to run faster .
    Yesterday I received by Gel-Cumulus 26 and it is what I wanted to combo with my Gel-Nimbus 26 :
    - same color way on both shoes ;
    - less bulky, with a slim fit, no huge heel landing (NB4);
    - a bit less heavy and less heavy (lol) ;
    - also lower stack height them the Gel-Nimbus/Nova Blast .
    I'm a heel striker ,but bulky heels ,for my taste, are ok if the shoes are max cushioning . Otherwise, I prefer more compact...even if that could cost losing a bit of stability, but it was not the case with the Gel-Cumulus 26 !
    Ascis is rocking with so many shoes options for every taste !

  • @kuriosites
    @kuriosites 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I had the Novablast v2 & v3 but I'm not planning on getting v4 because I've gotten away from such maxed out shoes. With v3, I found myself gravitating towards the Deviate Nitro 2 more and more just because it feels like less shoe on foot even though it is a bit heavier. I'm curious about your anti-Asics feelings because I've thought about the Evoride Speed 2, and the leaked photos of Magic Speed 4 look fantastic.
    Also, no deadlifts is a deal breaker for me. Fortunately, in my garage, we encourage them.

    If you only got 250 miles out of your Nimbus 25s, either you have a very sensitive/fragile foot or you like retiring shoes early. I got 400 miles on both of my Nimbus 25s, and never heard of anyone only getting 250 miles out of any modern Asics shoe that isn't a carbon-plated racer. I got 300 miles on my Novablast 3s, I'm over 500 miles on my Superblasts and they're still going strong, I already mentioned my Nimbus 25s. Also would like to hear how Asics "doesn't support the running community." I see them as one of the leaders in the community.

    What a timely review. I just returned a pair NB4’s. Ran in them twice and bottom of both feet hurt. Left arch was painful at end of runs I believe due to no overlays offering support. After 2nd 6 mile run left calf was slightly strained and had to stop run for 4 days. Not to mention the midsole was firm. Thought the midsole was supposed to be softer a true disappointment. Since I returned the NB4’s I’ve had 5 runs in my Speed 3’s and Maxroad 6’s and none of the above issues. Oh well. Just my experience and definitely not a she for me.

      I swear this is word for word what I would write about the Boston 12, even the strained left calf.
      The novablast 4 reviews on youtube are strange, half of them call it firm, half of them call it soft. In my opinion, it's neither, it's on the softer side of medium. I can feel it that way when I press my fingers into the foam, and I can feel it that way when it's on my feet. The softness measurements on RunRepeat's website confirms this to me. But yeah when it's on your feet, softness measurements don't really matter anymore, everyone will feel it differently

It does it for me. As far as laces go, that’s interesting. I usually just do a typical double knot but if they laces are a bit 😂long, I’ll shove the extra under the other laces down the front of the shoe. No problems with that method yet

    I wore them for walks as well to break them in. The foam will loosen up and feel softer. I thin the foam is fine, the step in feel is great and comfy, but they have a weird geometry. Might work for some people though..

And I would rather watch paint dry than watch you weigh a pair of shoes one at a time.
