I think the lo-fi only adds to the personality of the record. It makes it seem relatable almost. It isn't glossy and over-polished. It is raw like the emotions Mat is feeling, and I think it makes the album better in every way.
As much as I love Cal, the thought of him standing in the corner of my room in the dark disturbs me to no end. Loved this album :) Although I agree with MrSplatterPlatter below me...why, why, why do the Antlers not affect you but this guy does? The sadness in Hospice was so real it hurt.
"Sincerity, personality, something I can get to know"... wow Tony, the tiredness works for you. I think you just gave one of the most concise and best descriptions of, "good music!"
"suicide (1977)" self titled album review would clear the air. You know alan vega and mark rev those people. Very influential. Please give your sensory inputs to the Internet. I'd enjoy it, so would others.
Anthony, thanks for reminding me of this album's little, obscure, sometimes dark ditties that remind me of quieter intimate Syd Barrett and Velvet Underground.
Wax Lazarus - Red, Green, Blue via Bandcamp these guys went to school with me. the record never really went anywhere. It's spotty in places but really impressive and with mad songcraft considering the guys were like 16. Check it out. I am posting it here because it's another very homemade record.
You should really review the new American Pleasure Club record, A Whole Fucking Lifetime of This, out on Run for Cover. Formerly known as the popular lofi/punk band Teen Suicide
@TaffyRaphie No, the camera turned to the back of the room, so right and left switched. He definitely did it right, he was looking at the calzone in his own room after all
wow thank you for reviewing this, matt's a great songwriter, less so at singing but i feel like he's very close to writing a truly great, stand the test of time song/album. agree with most of your analysis tho
Hi Anthony; Probably you are going to review it soon, but I'm going to request it anyway: Thurston Moore's Demolished Thoughts... Also, I'd like to hear your opinion on two other recently released albums as well: Meredith Monk's Songs of Ascension and Kate Bush's Director's Cut... Thanks in advance and best regards...

I showed my friend this album. The first thing he said was that it sounds a lot like early Modest Mouse.
