It was a day like any other. Anthony Fantano, the Internet’s busiest music nerd, was hard at work listening to music that he was to review. It was sunny, and slightly humid, so he had left his shirt off for the day. His girlfriend was dealing with an emergency at work. But all of a sudden, Anthony heard a knock at his door. His muscles rippled as he got up from his desk chair. He slowly walked to the door… He saw a dark silhouette through the window. “I wonder who that could be…?” Anthony wondered. He slowly opened the door. And, to his great surprise, his biggest idol was standing before him… MC Ride. Or as his friends call him, Stefan. MC Ride peeked in the doorway, and said, “H-hey… um I don’t know if you know me… b-but I’m in a band and our van broke down about a half mile back… I w-was hoping you had some tools laying around…” Now, although Anthony had always loved Death Grips and their music, he tried to play it cool. After all, he kind of had a crush on Stefan ever since he heard his voice on Beware. Luckily, Anthony had a big shed in his back yard full of his dad’s old mechanic tools. Anthony smiled, and replied, “Sure… I recognize you. What band again? Deaf grapes or something?” “N-no… Death Grips…” answered MC Ride. Anthony laughed. “ha-ha, that’s right! just come on in! I could definitely give you a tool to use…” He led MC Ride to his back yard. On the way, He could feel Ride’s gaze on him. He wondered if he liked what he saw. He opened the door to the shed, and Ride quickly shuffled in to grab what he needed. “He’s even cuter in real life…” Thought Anthony. On the way back, Anthony hastily offered Ride a beer. “Hey man, want to have a beer? You seem like a cool dude.” “Well… Zach and Andy are waiting for me… but I guess a quick beer wouldn’t hurt I guess.” Mumbled Ride. At first, they sat awkwardly in Fantano’s living room. But then they started talking about Death Grips and other music. They were soon off on a riveting conversation. After a while, Anthony said; “hey… I haven’t really been honest with you Stefan… Can I call you that? To tell the truth, I know a lot about Death Grips. I’m pretty much your biggest fan.” “Ha-ha… Yes I know… and I have to confess something too. I watch almost all of your video reviews. Y-you could say that I’m your biggest fan.” Anthony then did something very risky. He laid his hand on Stefan’s leg, right above the knee. Their eyes met, and the next thing Anthony knew, their lips were locked and they were lying on the couch together. “Can Andy and Zach wait?” asked Anthony. Ride’s response was to continue kissing him. They made out like this for a few minutes, and then Ride started slowly moving down to Anthony’s private area, kissing his beautiful chest on the way down. “Please” whispered Anthony. MC Ride slowly unbuttoned Anthony’s black shorts. Anthony’s rock hard penis sprang up, and MC Ride started sucking it off. It was the best blowjob of Anthony’s life. Far better than any blowjob his girlfriend had ever given him. The way Stefan’s tongue moved… it was amazing. “Ohhhh Stefan… I think I want you to do the nasty in my taxi!” yelled Anthony. “I AM THE BEAST YOU WORSHIP” replied MC Ride as he took Anthony’s cock out of his mouth. Anthony bent over on the couch, and got on his knees. Ride undid his all-black jeans, and revealed his lengthy penis. He started to put his throbbing penis into Anthony’s butt, when all of a sudden, “IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES YUUHHHH!!!!!” “Oh my God!!” screamed Anthony. “You get-get-get-get got-got-got-got it in!” MC Ride wasn’t a tender lover. He pumped and pumped until finally, in euphoria, he came inside of Anthony’s butt. He withdrew, exhausted, and laid down next to Anthony, who had reached orgasm as well. “H-how was it?” Asked Stefan. “you’re good…” Whispered Anthony. Whispered Anthony. “I liked your lovemaking. I would give you a strong six, light seven.”

snessub I think it has something to do with sampling. Mixtapes are released for free; Death Grips can't profit off this for example because of all the unlicensed sampling. So with mixtapes, you can basically use any song you want, but you also can't make any money doing so.
this legitamely might have the best track sequencing i've ever seen in a musical project, even though mixtapes are usually thought up to just be a random compilation of banging tunes. Every track perfectly transitions into eachother and it just feels like a full unfiltered mental breakdown shown in sonic form.
Very interesting. I find that sometimes people need to take time to review things that are not mainstream and you've done just that. I find the music quite frightening with all the yelling while rapping, but the lyrics have meaning and that's what really counts compared to the current mainstream music that focuses mainly on catchy hooks instead of profound lyrics that have intellectual meaning.

Man, I started listening to this album when this review first came out. I just watched the review again and decided to check out all the songs that are sampled on the record. My god. Just made me appreciate Exmilitary even more.
I'm from the future. 2020. Trump is president, there's a pandemic keeping people in their houses, Kanye makes a gospel rap album, and they call Anthony a Melon. You've been warned.
I've been listening 2 death grips since the summer. They are so fuckin awesome. Shit is raw, crazy, intense, aggressive, hard, violent all rolled into a ball & set on fire. That is how awesome & sick this record is. They got even better on the money store.
I really love the aggression and noise on this album. The volume and sheer size of the music reminds me of Sleigh Bells though I understand that they are not a particular favorite of yours. I'm looking forward to you maybe reviewing the new Balkans LP.
I'm loving Exmilitary as well, thought it's freaking WILD. Like, savage and primal, not wild as in dance-party-yay. I enjoy the beats and samples, I think his voice destroys my brain in a good way, I like that this LP isn't afraid to express ideas. I know, I know: Ideas are things of the past. But this is good stuff. Lord of the Game might end up being one of my favorite tracks of '11. You should probably review I Am Very Far and/or Codes and Keys. Hope you're doing well, Anthony. Forever :)
This album is one of my top gym soundtracks. From cover to cover it is solid!!! I wish there were vocals on the track 5D [the beat is sooooooooo heavy... DOPE]. Two thumbs and two toes up!
The first time i listened to this mixtape it offended my hip hop sensibilities and i was reluctant to listen again but i was still curious to see what i would get out of future listens. Just recently i've begun to see this mixtape with new eyes, and i've actually found that i like it quite a good deal. imo it's a solid 7/10 right now but i like every song more and more with each listen. I think Exmilitary really expanded my horizons with hip hop and it has really allowed me to enjoy other exper
Listened to it way more times than I would like to admit(and more than my eardrums should be subjected to) and I still manage to thoroughly love it every time. The best things in life truly are free. Exmilitary is the best example there is.
As much as I love the catchiness of the money store, the aggression of no love deep web, the experimental abstract beatscapes of government plates, the amazing lyricism and songwriting on the powers that b, and just about everything death grips has ever done, I always come back to this album. I distinctly remember the first time I heard it because of how fundamentally it changed my understanding of music and art and life. This album is especially beautiful to me, probably my favorite album of all time.
I wish i was older when they dropped this album. I haven't seen a single Death Grips release being dropped because i turned 15 this year and i heard them for the first time in 2021
its crazy this was a small band 30 minutes from me (although I've only recently started listening) that got boosted to success by this vid. life is wild
Crazy! When I first heard Death Grips I said to my friend they inspired the same feeling as when I first heard Atari Teenage Riot as a 14 year old ... I'm 30 now and I took that friend to see DG live and it was the gig of the year for me.
@DeezyisPrimo when he said "Hobo Rap", that pretty much sums it up. The album is nothing short of..art. It really paints a picture in your head about this person, and PEOPLE, period. The thoughts you'd think a homeless man, possibly a Vietnam Vet (Hence.."Ex-Military"), and how'd he'd view his life, what beliefs he's taken up in the decades AFTER, the possible post traumatic stress he suffered FROM the war, etc....is all embodied and showcased in this album. The review, was spot on IMO.

I'm from the future. 2020. Trump is president, there's a pandemic keeping people in their houses, Kanye makes a gospel rap album, and they call Anthony a Melon. You've been warned.
i wish i could go back in time and experience 10 years of death grips again
I'm fucking fifty and I hate hip hop. But I have been listening to Death Grips all day. And I don't know why.
That's awesome
that's cool but this is hardly hiphop
That explains it then.
hip hop is cool
+Alpharius it's experimental hip hop
Originality at it's finest.
I've been listening 2 death grips since the summer. They are so fuckin awesome. Shit is raw, crazy, intense, aggressive, hard, violent all rolled into a ball & set on fire. That is how awesome & sick this record is. They got even better on the money store.
this is how i met your mother
I really love the aggression and noise on this album. The volume and sheer size of the music reminds me of Sleigh Bells though I understand that they are not a particular favorite of yours. I'm looking forward to you maybe reviewing the new Balkans LP.
thank you hank
EXmilitary in my opinion is a work of art and defs a unique experience for any listener to go thru.
Forever :)
Are u still a fan?
This album is one of my top gym soundtracks. From cover to cover it is solid!!! I wish there were vocals on the track 5D [the beat is sooooooooo heavy... DOPE]. Two thumbs and two toes up!
You still a fan?
The first time i listened to this mixtape it offended my hip hop sensibilities and i was reluctant to listen again but i was still curious to see what i would get out of future listens. Just recently i've begun to see this mixtape with new eyes, and i've actually found that i like it quite a good deal. imo it's a solid 7/10 right now but i like every song more and more with each listen. I think Exmilitary really expanded my horizons with hip hop and it has really allowed me to enjoy other exper
THIS IS A 9 WTF FANTANO WHEN ARE YOU DROPPING THE REDUX REVIEW. suscribed.

9/10
to this day, i credit this video for the discovery of DG for me...started shaky but that raw feel won me over
angry, violent...... HOBO rap....... hahahhahaa shit cracked me up
Listened to it way more times than I would like to admit(and more than my eardrums should be subjected to) and I still manage to thoroughly love it every time. The best things in life truly are free. Exmilitary is the best example there is.
Yes!! Agreed.
"Spread Eagle Cross the Block," "Lord of the Game," "Thru the Walls," and "I Want It I Need It" are my favs.
I realy love the Spotify version with everything copystriked
This sounds glorious. Excellent review, Ant.

You should listen to the money store!
yeah he'd prolly give it a 10
EXMILITARY > THE MONEY STORE
oh no you done did it
No
Well, that's debatable
Hell no
Definitely. The lyrics are actually understandable and the production is way more interesting
I remember watching this video 10 years ago after first listening to guillotine fresh out of my senior year, crazy how the time has flown by.
2:32 truly ahead of his time
I wish i was older when they dropped this album. I haven't seen a single Death Grips release being dropped because i turned 15 this year and i heard them for the first time in 2021
13 years later… album still slaps
Holy shit I had no idea Zach Hill did the drums on this. That makes me love it even more!
its crazy this was a small band 30 minutes from me (although I've only recently started listening) that got boosted to success by this vid. life is wild
I cannot fucking believe you reviewed this lmao. I listened to this a few days ago, it's amazing. How did you hear of it?
Are u still a fan?
First time I've ever heard of Death Grips, and now they are gone, good memories
lol
lol
lol
lol
lol
Bro. That intro was fuckin great.
Great seeing this rank as #2 on your favourite albums of 2011. Thanks for introducing me to music that I would have otherwise never heard of.
saw death grips live. aw man it was awesome
Yeah
lol, see what a difference 7 months makes?
6:19 describes this album perfectly. Absolutely loved this release though.
And then the greatest love story ever started
Better than the money store imo
yeah
Agreed
I agree
"Screamed at by an inmate for 45 minutes..."
holy shit!! this is a really intense piece of music....thanks for the excellent review, i love this!!!
