      Fuji has been Killing it with their cameras, I got my eye on a used Like new GFX 50R for the time when film goes to 50 bucks for a single 24 exp Arista roll.

      @@maxwellwellmax878 you won’t be disappointed! Although the 50S (original) is a better handling camera by far compared to 50R

    Sir Serr, what a beautiful creation. You captured your beautiful heart and the camera was happy to be in your hands. If Fuji really sees what you did here, they would consider gifting you with even a used medium camera, just to get those gems keep coming. Well done!

    This video is fucking incredible. The amount of effort, consideration and vision it takes to make something like this for TH-cam is genuinely humbling to watch. Anyone that has ever tried to film anything or who has worked in production will tell you, this is nuts for one person to achieve. Honestly just glad this channel and this work exists, so thank you

    Ever since I sold my Sony and Canon gear and jumped onto Hasselblad X system train 2 years ago, I have started to get more and more clients... (Not to mention that when people hear you have a Hasselblad camera, they immediately see you as some kind of a god LOL!) My monthly earnings have almost doubled since two years ago and I didn't change anything about my style, compositions or shooting approach, I only changed systems. (I shoot portraiture, by the way, mainly private editorials in my studio but I also accept outdoor requests.)
    Also, AMAZING video you made here...

  • @ECGardner
    @ECGardner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Great video, especially enjoyed seeing the portrait sessions! Lots of people talk about gear and specs, but it's way more interesting to see how a photographer sets up a shoot, works with subjects, etc.

    As someone who has used the GFX system extensively, I really enjoyed this video even though you didn't cover it in detail for using it for street photography (where I think the GFX100S + 50mm f3.5 shine) but the amount of work that went into this video is clear. Amazing work man. I can't even be disappointed - you are putting out great work here. Excited to see you blow up soon.

    Been using it for over a year professionally. I love the 100S with the reliable autofocus, insane quality and ultimately not having to rent super expensive hasselblad cameras for big assignments.
    Only thing I really feel like is necessary unlike Hasselblad/Mamiya is the fact that I always specifically have to use a color checker. Color science isn't as natural/good as the other brands. It's in my eyes a bit like Sony. Nudging towards yellow alot. But color profiling is a necessary step needed to be taken anyways when working professionally.
    Currently playing with a contax zeiss 50mm 1.4 lens on it adapted manually. Incredible. Closest you'll get to 'the look'. I absolutely love using vintage lenses on it with the many features that assist manual focusing.
    Great review about one of my favorite cameras of all time.

      What do you think between 63mm 2.8 and 45mm 2.8 ? I think he's using the 63mm 2.8 on some portraits in this video that look awesome and lean toward 3D rendition and "MF look"

    • @Marc-WOA
      @Marc-WOA ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martindesceaux1281 Both lenses are absolutely beautiful but with that 63mm 2.8 you will get a bit more of that 'pop' because you're isolating a bit better with the focal length. I'd recommend it for portraiture. The 45mm is great for environmental portraits. :)

    You have such an ability to make videos and photos feel 'human', I don't know what exactly it is but it's really inspiring. What do you use for your music? I feel like the defining characteristic of your videos is the way you integrate the filmic look and subtle background music that invokes emotions, as well as the calmness and down to earth approach you take. Haven't done any proper modeling or fashion photos but seeing this video makes me want to try it just with my friends some time. Most content I find online about portrait photography feels so out of touch and impossible to achieve, I like that you got such nice looks out of just natural lighting with no fancy flash setups or anything. The black foamboard had such a nice effect, wouldn't watch a video on it on its own but seeing it in use makes me curious to look more into that kind of thing.

    A 100 MP file size will make my eyes water and my laptop freeze if I even try to edit! I wish Fuji would update the 50SII with the same dynamic range as the 100S. So far, you get lower DR with the 50S bodies. If I'm taking the plunge (which I have been considering for a while) I want to feel that there is more to it than larger sensor pixel area when compared to an FF sensor with the same resolution. In terms of depth of filed, I have quite a bit of great quality bright glass on my FF bodies so I don't think it'll make much difference than those, but more dynamic range for those extra contrasting shots would be great for underexposing and shadow recovery. Please Fuji, make it happen!

    Thanks for posting, 2 things or really 3, I love photographing out and around Joshua Tree, and I lived around the corner from you in DTLA, or at least the studio space you were using, I was on South Main between 6th and 7th, I am a Fuji X user, X-Pro 3, XE4 and really love the portability, I have a complete Canon DSLR set-up 5DM4, it's all paid for and costs zip to own, a great camera but lately I am wanting a medium format digital camera mostly for landscape and some portrait, do you thing the GFX 50 camera's would satisfy my need? I don't really print all that big to often, recently I had a 50 inch wide canvas made from an earlier Canon DSLR, and it looked beautiful, any thoughts, even used works for me, or the Canon R system?, Greetings from Germany my new home, I do miss DTLA, especially Komosa in Little Tokyo, be well...nice work and the color feel was gorgeous, daylight portraits are amazing, all the masters did that in the day, Avedon, Penn etc.

    There are so many youtuber I watch and there are a few that I would consider "special". Tim Kellner, Philip Bloom and you. The way you are making videos is so unique, your timing, colors, music, angles etc. So good and gentle even. In times like this where everything has to be fast, loud and agressive it is such a pleasure to watch your content. I know you see yourself probably more on the photo side but for me your video skills are even better. Sorry, my next project will be a little copy of your style but I see your videos as an inspiration. How do you get that grainy look?
