- Sounds of the English letters is what I will demonstrate today.
This video is made for parents. Parents can use this video as a reference. For kids, there will be a separate video including Yahya. It will be more fun and engaging for the kids. This video will be a bit boring for the kids. They won't enjoy this. This is just for the parents.
I will first demonstrate a-z sounds and then the sounds of vowels as they are a little tricky and parents can find it a little bit difficult to differentiate between the sounds.
I have made big flash cards of lower case letters from a-z. On white paper, red or black is the best combination to grab a child's attention. If you wish to download these. There is a link down below.

A: I was born in Pakistan but then moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when I was only 9 months old. Have been raised and lived there all my pre-married life.

A: I moved to Sweden after marriage. Lived there for 7 years, then moved back to Saudi Arabia in 2018.

A: I have done a four year honours program in Information Technology and Computing.

A: I have been married to Naveed for 7 years. We have two sons - Yahya is 3 and baby Ziyad is 1 year old.
Q: Why are you Homeschooling him?
A: In general, I am not satisfied with the quality of education in schools. But also, our local school's system (we have only one or two international schools in our city) is not satisfactory. We are aiming to homeschool till 6 years of age for now.

Thanx..kust today i got first online recorded vdo from my childs english teacher..seriously whatever the phonics she recalled in vdo they all were wrong n now im gonna share this vdo with her for her improvement ..it helped me too as i never dealed with mont student but now im dealing with my kids :-) its very hard to teach them phonics n all that .salute to all mont teachers.
Oh!!! I try my best to give you guys the right knowledge. There is a lot of variation in teaching phonics. You will see several videos on TH-cam that explain phonics differently than I do. With my extensive research I believe they are incorrect.

So glad it helped! Also check my latesg sound video. "All" the sounds that a single letter makes. You can teach it to 3 years above. But it worked best for us when Yahya was roughly 4 above. Here is the link to the video I'm talking about :)

@@SaraMeer honestly speaking I have seen lots videos for phonics learning native and non native as but from your videos finally I saw the difference between a sound and e sound usually I open my mouth horizontal for a sound and vertical for e sound but now I will open mouth slightly horizontal and vertical for e sound

Thanks for watching Afaf! Phonics are the same for blending words.
A simple trick to teach blending is get two objects. Like two lego blocks. On one write 'b', on the other write 'a'.
Show it to your child, say the sound of both and bring them together and say the blended sound.
This is a tried and tested technique. Definitely do this often.

Good job Sara ... I need to know should we start with lowercase r uppercase letter?
If you go by the "book" toh starting with small letters is recommended. In yahya's case I didn't know that, so I taught him capital letters' names through puzzles. Later I started teaching him small letters, but this time not the letter names, instead phonics. We used flash cards for this!
We didn't do any capital letter and small letter matching activity. I felt he linked them on his own.
You can always adjust according to the child. Hope this helps! :)

Hey Ayesha! Okay, so if your child has already mastered phonics and blending 2 letter words (like ba, be, bi, bo, bu, ca, ce, ci, co, cu and so on)
Then you can start with cvc words. So we used alot of different cvc matching cards with pictures. See m Week in the life video. I have shown us reading those cards in it. If you Google, you will find alot of variety of such cards to choose from :)
That's mainly it. Now and then, I also used to write a cvc word on our white board and let my son read it :)

Extra Practice will help you to distinguish between short i, e and a sound. Watch a video that also shows mouth movement. Watch until you feel confident. Try playing a video twice a day. Hope this helps!

Hey Anum! I have been following the curriculum Logic of English. And what they say is that you have to teach all the sounds of all the letters first to the child. Here's the link to the video that I made on all the sounds.

But in the beginning, when your child has learned to read CVC words. You teach them sentences with basic CVC words like. Cat can run.
These sentences use the first (basic) sounds of all the letters. And this is what you do in the beginning till the child is a little fluent in reading them.
Then, you start adding words that use other sounds of letters. And you tell the child that here we are using the other sound of
For example in;
Tom is fat.
In 'is' for 's' you use the second sound that is z

Sister aap ne phonics batadiya, next two and three word blending kis tarah se karayi hain wo b plz bataden, i am currently doing that with my child but he doesnt seem to get a hold of it. Jaise sight words learning k liye aapne itne achay ideas diye waise blending k liye b ideas den.
Maryam actually ma ny kuch special karwaya nahi blending k liye. Just a repetition of couple of activities. Es liye a bit confused of what to film. But okay. I will make a short video on what I did :)

Hi there! Start teaching 2 letter blends
What I used to to was, I would write 'ba' say the sounds of it and ask Yahya to blend them. Obviously, he wouldn't repeat because he didn't understand. But you have to keep repeating it. Until one day they get it!

Thankyou sara for responding me. I start doing blending of words which start from vowels. Like, i start two letters words with 'a' ( at,an,ap,ag, ar,ad) but Shayaan is not getting too much. Sometime he forgot about blending them. So should i repaet these words and sounds till one to two week or more?? And is it right to teach him these two letter words??

Mostly i m confused by the letter c . Why c 's sound is different with ca or ce or ci
Try saying the sound of "c" without making the "a" sound at the end. Then that's the right sound of c. If you pronounce that right then you will see the difference :)

And after teaching these sounds which are in the video, how to move further? Means for diagrahs, like ae, oo, air. I know single letter sounds myself and my kid also knows that but don't know how to move further. Kindly make a short video on next sounds pronunciation also, a short video may be 🥰
WalaikumAssalam! I haven't followed any phonics program yet. Relied on google. But have been looking into programs this week. "Logic of English Foundations A" looks convincing :)
