- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ส.ค. 2024
- Updated video showing the complete DW NP replica collection along with “Old Faithful” replica.
I had a brain fart while filming. The Grey snare with the red RUSH logo from the original album was the Modern Drummer Tribute Snare drum (I think I said DW tribute in the video). Come join my Facebook group www.facebook.c...
Wow! That collection is absolutely amazing!!! I don't know what you do for a living but I'd be intrigued to know to see where I went wrong in my professional career? Saw this on the FB group and now here!!! Great content!
Beautiful collection. I like to see a video on "Old faithful' that drum looked amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Dang! Hope all those drums find their way onto a snare stand every so often.
That be nice, but the value will drop too
Absolutely- I play them all
@@Dan_the_Great_ completely agree. But I didn’t get them for the “value. Well, the financial value anyway. To me, their value will never decrease.
Retirement plan
So glad to see you're doing well, and that the collection is still in tact! Thanks for the update.
Nick
Absolutely high top gorgeous unique stuff collection of Neil Peart congrats 🍾🥁🏆
Amazing collection, bro!
That ancient wood one.... It's an amazing kit, too. Kind of rare for me to be this blown away. I'm actually jealous 😂.
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
That's an absolutely bonkers collection. I didn't know about well over half of these special editions!
Wooow!...congrats for your colleciton and all the effort behind this video and to make this possible. Enjoy and have fun!
I hope you play on some of these and enjoy from that as well.
I see that you do. awesome!
That's so unbelievably cool thank you for seeing that
Stunning collection. You are a very lucky person indeed. Live Long and Prosper.
Damn! I don’t even know how you find this stuff. I’m jealous!
Yikes!!!!! Amazing collection 🥁🥁🥁🥁🎼🎶🎵🤘👍🍺🍻 cheers from Texas
What an amazing collection! Thank you so very much for sharing it.
Beautiful collection enjoy😊
Such a great collection!!
Wow. Cool stuff
That is just an awesome collection, hats off to you sir. I might just have to get over to Dallas....
Absolutely- come play them!
You are so lucky, won all of those contests bro!
Amazing Danny!
Wow, amazing video and channel -- liked and subscribed!
If this was in my house I would sit and stare at this collection for an hour everyday after I meditated.
Absolutely incredible.
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful collection. I love the Time Machine Snare with the cogs. I would love to own one with the hand painted, but I think I would have done exactly what you did, just to keep the serial numbers matching. I really appreciate your videos, sharing your wonderful collection with Drum nerds like myself. Is the Test For Echoes Snare Drum an edge snare, or Brass with a glitter wrap or what I would assume is a painted finish going around the center? I still adore your riser finish. I always loved his R30 set especially for the Keith Moon inspired images on each panel with the galaxy/holographic sparkle in each image. So the fact you did that for your riser is absolutely incredible to me. I have so many questions about his gear that I feel like if anyone would know, it’s probably you or Mr. Wheaton. For example, at the risk of rambling on, which I guess I’ve already done so, I’ll ask, was his Ol’ Faithful the same Drum just painted differently throughout the years? Or did he keep getting a different Drum to match whatever set he was using? I always assumed it was the same but am obviously not sure. I also heard he had mounted an ashtray to one of his bass drums back in the day, so you know if that’s true? I literally look at every little nut and bolt on any drum even washers and wing nuts so I’m not sure how I’ve never seen it. Also, Pink Floyd is one of my absolute favourite Bands and idols so the fact that you have that Snare is incredible. I’m sure you get many questions, so don’t feel obligated to answer my long rant, really, I know I’m a bit obsessive. Still, thank you for your time and I hope you have a wonderful evening!
Amazing! Awesome! Terrific! Love it! Thanks!
I wonder if anybody has ever replicated the bottom bearing edge of the Slingerland Artist snare that Neil used for years. I remember reading in an interview with Neil many years ago when he said that somebody had filed down the bottom edge of that snare and that the drum would never choke.
Wow! Great collection.
Absolute killer collection. What is weird is all of these nice and very expensive snares, not a one of them has die cast hoops on it. Just an observation, yes i know they all sound great...
Even though die cast hoops are super expensive, many drummers prefer the brighter sound and feel of triple flange hoops.
Nice collection dude. For me though, I don't care what Neil Peart snare I am able to obtain........I'm playing that monster!!!!!
Totally agree! I PLAY THEM ALL!!
🙏❤🌹 Neil 🌹❤🙏
Nice collection!
Beautiful!
I would love to see the rest of the items in the background in detail.
I have a couple older videos (my collection has grown since then) but this will give you an idea th-cam.com/video/_LVINcPb1s4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=k72JDepzKX7_w7Hz here is one of the drum kit th-cam.com/video/KaymH2rbPwU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=av1mApcPq13tLWOb
Incredible.
HOW do you keep that huge kit dust free??
\m/
I don’t. It’s a pain - I wipe it down every couple of weeks. The dust was the main reason I built the cases for the snares
Wow, just wow…
I just went into more debt just watching this video
I think his best snare sound was permanent waves to test for echo.
I need these flight cases for my drum collection in my commercial recording studio. Can you provide a link to the case manufacturer?
I don’t want to get in trouble as they will not make any more of these for anyone other than DW I had to get special permission from the CEO of their company. I’ve had multiple people make the request so I can’t give you any specific details (the design was mine. I have the schematics, and everything that was drawn out ) but it is the same case manufacturer that made the evolution cases. Calzone is the company. That’s the most I can say as I don’t want to create a problem for them after they did me a favor.
Them tube lugs are fire
Whatever this man does for a living is what I now also want to do 😂
PROPS TO LOUIE GARCIA.. THE MASTER PAINTER AT DW DRUMS.. GREAT GUY.. IF YOU ARE EVER IN OXNARD CALIF. TAKE THE DW FACTORY TOUR.. I WAS LUCKY TO LIVE 2mi. FROM DW.. GREAT EXPERIENCE.. AWESOME COLLECTION BRO. WE ARE ALL JEALOUS WITH ENVY.. 😃🤘🤘🤘 R.I.P. NEIL “ THE PROFESSOR “ PEART 😇 R.I.P. RUSH 😇😇😇 🤘🤘🤘
Know both Louie and John Good. The only reason I have some of these drums (Louie and John have signed many of them). Have toured the factory as well it’s amazing!
@@DigitalMan_2112 OH YA IM PRETTY SURE YOU DO AND HAVE SEVERAL TIMES BROTHER 🤘🤘I WAS JUST TELLING YOUR VIEWERS .. MAN YOU HAVE MORE THAN NEIL SAVED PROBABLY 🤣. SO AWESOME 🤘🤘🤘
One would assume this man is quite wealthy
Yeah, that ride cymbal is unmatched. I know Jack, the keyboard tech, and he would say that the synths geddy used are either in museums, or were auctioned off. He even asked me what keyboards they used on moving pictures. Hahaha. Minimoog, taurus pedals, obx, 8 voice oberheim. I have read that the original ride cymbal was a zilco, whatever that is. Great bell on it, though.
A friend of mine Lee Keeley owns the synths and pedals. He is on Facebook and has a bunch of pics and videos of them
@@DigitalMan_2112even jack didn't know where the synths went. I have 4 minimoogs, and 4 taurus 1's.
What is the secret behind alex van halen's snare sound?......Alex van halen. @@DigitalMan_2112
@@DigitalMan_2112 I see an obxa with red wood sides. Jack said he painted those red, along with the minimoog. Lee thinks tom sawyer was recorded on an obxa? It was an obx. Maybe he couldn't get the obx.
@mattdelany6799 Zilco’s we’re made at the Canadian Zildjian factory which later became the Sabian factory after brothers Armand Zildjian and Robert Zildjian split apart from one another.
I cannot imagine the value that these drums hold. And I don’t mean money.
100% agree - lots of stupid comments asking about how much they cost etc. For me it’s about the drums and Neil.
Thx
SICK BRO!
Is that an original NP drum set or a replica, and how were you able to get one? Did DW make it? I see a lot TH-cam videos with exact replica kits like this one, but on DWs website there’s no place to look at one. Also do you know the type of wood of the replica kit? Know its a lot of questions but I am an enthusiast looking to get a real replica kit one day. Thanks!
You can see more about the kit here - th-cam.com/video/KaymH2rbPwU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ea9193WjII-f7I3w DW made 30 replica kits in 2008 for the R30 tour. This kit is #20. the replica was only the acoustic drum and they came on stands not a riser www.musicradar.com/reviews/drums/dw-neil-peart-r30-drum-kit-78587 All other replica kits made were put together by fans and not official replica's made. Only the R30 was an exact replica made by DW
@@DigitalMan_2112 Thanks for the reply!
Amazing Collection Brother!! \m/ \m/
Ohhhhh sweet!!!!!!!
Wow - great!! 🙏🤩
Nice collection. Out of curiosity, do you have a 70s Slingerland Artist series in copper wrap?
No I wanted the slingerland to be a replica of Old Faithful in its current state. So I had it painted to the Black Cherry from the counterparts tour. It was in the copper when I acquired it.
@DigitalMan_2112 Ah...in last used condition. I get that!
Please let me know what you've been investing in. You've clearly made very good financial decisions (or you won a large lottery prize;).😄 Love the room layout and the museum-level curation and casings.
love this:)
Impressive, I have a question. Where did all of Neil’s drum kits go? I’m sure everything was stored in a warehouse at the time he was alive but I’m just curious where all his equipment went.
We all miss him so very much and he was taken way too soon.
Rush fan forever!
It’s a great question. One I hope other people are interested in. I am working with the CEO of Modern Drummer on the idea of trying to do an issue on one of there magazines on that very topic. A “gone but not forgotten” issue on Neil looking at his influence on the average drummer and a sought on where his kits and gear have ended up. So with that let’s walk down where they are:
Chromey (used from FBN to ATWAS) was sold at an auction for $500k. It was purchased by a friend of mine who lives in Utah (we went to the same high school). I will be visiting him this July and will post pictures and videos on my Facebook group (facebook.com/groups/neilpeartdrums/?ref=share_group_link).
The Blakrome kit was given to a contest winner. He is not on social media and wishes to remain anonymous. This kit was used from farewell to kings through Hemispheres.
The rosewood Tama’s were also given to a contest winner who still has them and has posted some photos of them on TH-cam recently. He also wishes to remain anonymous. This kit was used from permanent waves through moving pictures.
The candy apple red Tama’s are in the NY area and the owner is a friend of mine. You can see all kinds of photos and videos on my Facebook group as well as TH-cam. I will be visiting him in May and will post some more photos and videos. This kit was used from signals through power windows.
The Ludwig’s used on Hold Your Fire were repainted and used again for presto. This kit was sold off in pieces and sadly is not longer in one piece. Different collectors have different parts of it.
The blue shadow Ludwig’s used for roll the bones are in the possession of a friend of mine in the Florida area. You can see photos and videos on my Facebook group page.
I am unaware of the current location of the counterparts kit
The test for echo and vapor trails kit is believe is in the Rush warehouse in Toronto along with the R30 kit
Snakes and arrows kit was rumored to be given to one of Neil’s friends.
The Time Machine, R40 and el Dark kits are in the possession of DW drums in Oxnard CA
@@DigitalMan_2112 good update
@@DigitalMan_2112 In this list you talk about Ludwigs used. But, in a later comment, you say Neal never played a Ludwig snare??? Were these Ludwigs used with DW snares????
@@hammers1518 Neil played Ludwig kits from Hold your Fire in 1987 through Counter Parts in 1994. While he played Ludwig kits he kept using his Slingerland Snare (Old Faithful) which he first started using during all the worlds a stage. He never actually played a Ludwig snare drum. Here is a good site you can read for some of the info andrewolson.com/Neil_Peart/drums/drumkits/drums_history.htm
@@DigitalMan_2112 thanks for clarification!
Old faithful is a 5x14 Slingerland Jazz Festival? 8 lug? Is that correct??
I know his drum tech picked it up at a pawn shop and Neil Said "that's the one".
Old Faithful is a Slingerland Artist Model 5.5 x 14 drum (3-ply, 8 lugs). You can get more detail here andrewolson.com/Neil_Peart/drums/drumkits/number_one_snare.htm
@DigitalMan_2112 thanks!
Damn. Such an amazing collection! You’re either single or divorced lol
Married with 3 kids. I had to remodel the entire house for her after all this. Those drums cost more than the price of buying them!
Do you have the Ludwig super made in 1959 brass it's on the 1960 catalog ?
Neil never played a Ludwig snare. And this video is about the DW collection.
He did play a supraphonic on the song T4E. You can see it on the Work In Progress video.
Also a couple of Yamaha snares on VT.
There, that should keep you busy for a while! 😂
Beautiful collection. I almost got one of those R30 replicas. The first one came in with the shell cracked. Returned to the factory and a second one sent, same thing but even worse! It looked like someone had stepped on it sideways. And then they didn't have any more of them. Kinda sucked.
@@brmperc 1st I’m not collecting every snare he ever played. I’m collecting the DW’s so no need for me to hunt the Roger’s he had before old faithful down etc.
Which R30 are you referring to? The starman? The R30 replica’s were only sold with the 30 kits or with the evolution cases. The starman is the most common of all the drums and you can pick them up for about $3,500 on eBay
Sure. This was more about the idea that he had never played a Ludwig snare. Yes, it was the Starman drum. I'm ok not spending $3500 for a drum I'd never want to take out on a gig. I did recently get myself a slingerland to fix up and play, and that was always my favorite snare sound. Well, that and the cocobolo piccolo on Presto
@@brmperc got it. I’m talking he never played a Ludwig snare as part of his rig. I’m sure Neil has played virtually every brand out there before choosing his set up.
Ok, maybe an off base question but: what do you do for a living man?! That has to be WILDLY pricey!
Holy shit and my wife gets pissed at me. I only have like five DW snare drums.❤😂
The only one you need is the slingerland. I wonder where his original ride is? After test for echo, I think Neil kinda lost it. When your wife and kid die, It’s kind of unrecoverable. Neil’s original snare, and ride are the most important instruments in his drum kit.
Go back and watch the video starting at 6:00. I put the Slingerland (Old Faithful) in this video because even though the focus of this is DW snares people keep asking about it. As you know he stopped using the Slingerland with the Counterparts album in 1993. From 1993 - 2015 (22 of the 40 years he was with RUSH he used DW snares).
I’ll have to ask Lorne if he knows where the ride ended up. He may have it or it may be in storage. The old ride and snare WERE the most important in early Rush but for more than half of the career they weren’t part of the arsenal.
Bello/magnifico.😮😮😮😮😮😮🥵
I wonder if this guy is a NP fan
Are you the inventor of sliced bread or something?
So.... who's your favorite drummer? XD
Lars Ulrich 😂
But I thought Neil Peart hated meeting fans. I don’t think he would’ve signed anything for people unless he had to, and I didn’t think he’d sign happy drumming.
Clearly you don’t know much about him. “Happy Drumming” was his signature phrase when signing autographs. He responded to fan mail for years and didn’t mind signing things at all. He was uncomfortable meeting people who would shower him with adoration. But he did not hate fans and he signed plenty of things.
Dear lord
WOW HOW MUCH MONEY IN THAT ROOM
How much is your collection worth and how much did it cost?
“I have paid the price but I will not count the cost” - Bravado, Roll the Bones - Neil Peart
Clever but not an answer. no shame in it I hope, No pride ether for you did not create them or make them.
It's the only answer that is relevant and anyone deserves. I did not buy them for an investment or the monetary value. I bought them to enjoy them and share them with other fans. My playing them devalues them but it never was about the "cost". Anyone who feels they need to know can search for any of these drums on eBay or Reverb and come to their own conclusion. So no, no shame and no pride - just enjoyment.@@afronprime51
I was pondering the same thing. Very interesting answer. I've been a rush fan since I was 13. I'm in my mid 40s. I also play drums. While I don't collect, I've come to this conclusion. If I can't take my drums to a nice gig, or recording session, or play them at home. Then why have them. Just my thought.
@@frankspikes7858 I’m not in a band and only play for fun now. Look at the rest of my channel and you will see I play them regularly. If you’re in the Dallas area stop by and I’ll let you play them as well. They get used. Cost is relative to the person paying. What is expensive for some is not for others. What is worth it to some is not to others. What I spent is no one’s business and not the point of the video or collection. As I stated it’s for enjoyment and use.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Not gone you can still access it here - th-cam.com/video/PPPFmu_ze2o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mBoxlWy16XVAQ-jW Just not prominent on the page so people don’t get confused
Craviotto
Why?
Unless I'm mistaken, you've no actual drums Neil played on. If he had, that might be worth value in terms of personal value or collectors value.
As for the rest?
I think you need serious help my friend, like serious help.
You are indeed mistaken. I have both drums Neil played (I show one in this video - did you even watch to the end?), cymbals he played, sticks he used and shirts he wore on stage. That said it’s not the point of this video. This is for collectors and Rush fans and is the full collection of DW replica snares. As for their vale? Go to reverb or eBay and look some up and tell me if they have no market value.
You don’t appear to be a fan or collector but stuck on the “value” aspect of it. As for which of us needs help? We’ll have to agree to disagree.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I'll buy all these drums for the price of what you told your wife you spent on them.
lol - that was funny!
You had some money to spend...
Facts
Why are you out of breathe?
From running across the house and up the stairs 30 seconds before shooting this - someone came to the front door.
How much money do you have geez. I love Rush but man, a little too fanatical..like..only Niel Peart gear..weird.. and costly. Do you even play those snare drums. Gosh.
Why do you assume I only have NP gear? Why do you get to decide what’s too fanatical? Because I chose to complete a collection rather than buy one or two items?I have a whole separate kit in another room that has nothing to do with Neil or RUSH. This page is specifically for RUSH. And yes I play all my drums, and if you have seen my Facebook group you’ve seen that I have had many people stop by and play them. None of them are for decoration.
Your comment says more about you and your judgmental attitude than the author and his fanaticism. I enjoyed the overview. Thank you for posting. Awesome collection. To each his own…
