Do you have to have superior drummer 3 to use these samples? Or can you use it in any daw?
How come you make sample packs only out of a few of your drum creations?
I'm a Rush fan, my whole life, and I enjoyed this video very much. At 68 years old, I am so pleased to see the legacy of Neil live on!
Thank you.
Neil is considered one of the absolute GOATs for a reason, man, his playing always fit the songs perfectly and plus he was a hell of a songwriter as well. Definitely one reason why I’m also happy to be Canadian (specifically Toronto) and Rush is still one of my favourite bands, RIP Neil and thanks for everything as well as continuing to influence countless other drummers across generations
Not so much of a songwriter!! More of a lyricist!!!
Rush is the only reason to be proud of Canada.
@@sticktrik True, but composing is equally as important when it comes to songwriting as well so I’m mainly saying that he was good at a bit of everything
He’s the man, the myth, the legend, the story of all air drummers
May his soul R.I.P
@@AP02112 there are plenty of reasons to be proud of Canada
Neil would be proud!
Actually no he wouldn't . Stop saying that
@BadRonald1 why?
@@BadRonald1Oh? Care to explain?
@alexanderzadoroznyj Not a big Rush fan? Ok, I'll explain then. Neil wasn't ever a huge fan of the limelight and stardom one bit. He wasn't a nasty person at all. Not one bit, but he never enjoyed meeting fans or doing meet and greets. He never pretented " a stranger was a long awaited friend ".
@@ThomasMetal75 I’m not such a huge fan that I’ve dug into their backgrounds or personalities so thanks for that info.
The snare tone in the first few moments of the counterparts album, phenomenal!!!
I always thought counterparts sounded better than moving pictures, but moving pictures had better tracks. Both great albums
You guys went all out to pay tribute to a Drumming Icon. Neil Peart’s influence will always be present. I’m proud of you all for putting this together. Great job by everyone. AOD ROCKS!!!
Dude, Pascal nailed it.
Absolutely outstanding. That may be one of the best Rush drum covers I have ever heard. Mr Peart would be smiling.
that stack to replace what was probably just a 6" splash in neils kit is so funny and extra I love it
Neil used Evans heavy duty heads on the batter and hydraulics on the resos on the “closed toms” and CS dots on the concert toms. He didn’t use cs dots on every tom in the 70s and 80s. Also, he did use Zildjian A cymbals, with a Zilco 22” ride (lighter than a ping)
Neil was my favorite. Rest in paradise Neil! 😊❤
Neil Peart is and always will be one of the most legendary drummers ever
nailed it. You really did the professor justice
my only nitpick is that Neil went through many drum companies, not just DW. but that's it, great video!
Neil described what it was like to play like that as "running a marathon while doing math equations". (paraphrasing)
Great job on the sound reproduction and phenomenal playing by Pascal as always.
Rush to me is the pinnacle of a power trio. Three outstanding musicians on their instrument(s) creating magic together.
Nailed it. Well done.
I’m very proud of my last name.l bought 2112 at age 12 and never looked back. These days I’m retired driving around in my Red Barchetta. 😊 Neil was the man. Insane drum kit
Great stuff. I'm a guitar player and I've been a fan of Rush since the '70s. Seen them too many times to remember. There were times in some of those shows in the 70s and early 80s when I thought I was watching a robot play drums. He was that crisp and perfect. The audiences were in AWE watching Neil play drums. I remember at one point my mouth was hanging open because I couldn't believe how incredibly perfect he was playing. It was mind-blowing. He was the world's first drum machine.
Watching this as i practice spider exercises on my guitar!!! Love peart n rush!!!
Back then and even now, most drummers experiment with their kits.ALL PARTS OF THEIR KITS!!❤.❤
Fantastic. So much effort for such little time playing but hugely appreciated. Haven't heard Fly by Night for a long time - such a great track, very musical.
Thank you for honoring Neil with such dedication to his craft and sound.
Neil Peart set the bar
The Professor
G.O.A.T. ❤️🥁🇨🇦❤️
As a music teacher that I am for so many years already, I just have something to say about Neil Peart , he was , is and will always be The best of the best and also the greatest drummer of all times, period cabrones , órale ,RUSH 4 ever and ever 🎼🥁🎵🥁🎼🥁🎵🥁🙌🤘🏻🙌🤘🏻‼️
Good Grief. That brought a tear to my eyes. THANK YOU!
Thanks! His drums sounded best in the 70's....like everybody's!
This video had as many movements, and section, and as much information as a Rush song!
Bravo, my guys!! This is my favorite video you've done yet!
10 out of 10 rating on the gaffer tape dot on the 8" Ambassador, y'all are geniuses.
Remo black dots are the coolest looking heads ever! And sound amazing too! Plus, love the classic Zildjian cymbals, same one’s that Neil used on those classic albums. 13” New Beat hi hats.
Awesome! My fav drummer of all time and it sounds just like him! Surprised you went all concert Tom’s and it still sounded like the record
Absolutely fantastic job ! If I close my eyes I think it is Neil himself!
Amazing video! Accurate recreation and performing 😁
Love this series! I'd love to see Gavin Harrison!
That snare sound is perfect
Most impressive Neil cover I have ever heard...outstanding Pascal! Thanks for the dedication to excellence...
Rush! Teachers of life. All though Dream Theater carried the torch into progressive metal, it was Rush that made me the drummer I wanted to be. 1st listen was Caress of Steel. The Necromancer. Some older dude that always had the latest cool music put it on at a party when I was just 14 and I can't imagine not growing up through all the rest of the albums. Through all the tech sounds and recording industry that got better with their influence. Just amazing, I'm so proud of them I saw them 7 or 8 times. Not enough. I could go on and on but I'll stop... Tman!....
Great job! After 41 years, I finally sold my monster 24 piece cage studio drumset. Retired from the music industry and down sizing to small home, forced me to sell it. Now I lean on electronic drums and pro sample drum libraries which actually do an awesome job. Cheers.
Don't forget, with his Tama and Ludwig kits, he "Vibrafied" his drum shells. Essentially, the inner shells were coated with glass fiber reinforced resin. You can say it was a birch-fiberglass hybrid shell.
Very impressive Pascal. Sounded perfect.
Finally!!
Youse nailed it! Thank you for honoring Neil with this and we look forward to seeing what you do next.😎❤️
Love this series from you guys!!
1-7-2020 RIP the professor of the drum kit. 🥁🥁🥁
Would love to see you guys recreate Vinnie Paul’s next!
Just get some good triggers & sounds and you're on your way. With Vinnie's sound it won't matter what size drums you use, what heads or tunings...It's all triggers.
@@shutitup68 Not all triggers, they blended live sounds with triggers.
I've been waiting for this...Thanks so much, guys... and especially Pascal!...Neil is my fave drummer.
Pascal has an amazing beat. I like so much the sound that you catch. Congrats!
That was very good. Thanks for the precision and attention to detail.
Good job!
That sounds scarily close to the original! Excellent work guys 🤘
Wow...Four years today. R.I.P. Neil, and thanks for everything. Especially the inspiration.
Amazing! Wonderful! And Pascal plays perfectly the parts!
Interesting to see those kinds of "Live" recreations of such classical pieces! Great Job!!!
great episode, drums are on point, I wish it had a yyz cover 😅, it would be cool if you guys did Abe cunningham drum sound next
Perfect recreation of Neil Pearts' work.
Absolutely nailed it! Well done!
Folks back then really took these great bands for granted, there will probably never be another band like rush again
Imagine trying to replicate Neil's big kit and couldn't do it properly because AOD ran out of mics. Neil is truly a goat. RIP Professor. 7:12
Thanks for your video!!! I am a Rush fan, from Brazil !!
Great Video! Now please do a Terry Bozzio video and set up his whole drum set! 😅😂 That is if you haven't covered him yet. Great job though, great video!
Been a rush fan since high school many years ago and always loved the percussions on all their songs Neil has always been and always will be one of the greatest drummers of all time. Really like the video, and the drumming was very good and looking forward to seeing more reenactments of other drummers.
Straight into the fill.. Awesome take and very well costructed setup! 🔥🔥
This is absolutely amazing. Tremendous work!
Well done gentlemen. And nice playing!
I personally prefer Neil's Ludwig kit(particularly from A Show of Hands). Those toms were far more open and were really allowed to sing!
Happy New Year and Happy Drumming!!!
🙏 ❤ 🌹 Neil 🌹 ❤ 🙏
SOUNDS GREAT. WE NEED DRUM COVER SERIES VIDEOS FROM YOU NEXT 😁🤙🤙. R.I.P. NEIL PEART 😇 R.I.P. RUSH 😇😇😇 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Fantastic video. I tell ya, the drums, cymbals, and accessories this channel has access to makes a drummer dream. It would be like drum heaven to have all these things available to you.
Nailed the sound! Absolutely fantastic drumming!
Awesome job. I know this is not an easy one and you guys nailed it.
Thanks for showing the complexity that went into the setup for the albums and concerts I've enjoyed.
It would be interesting to see you take a single drum and show many (all?) of the options there are for making it sound differently.
Finally! I knew you guys could do it! 🎉
Great Job Pascal and all of You guys
That snare sounded absolutely bang on for the Moving Pictures tone.
Moving Pictures Neil sttil was endorsed by Tama and used a 5 1/2 × 14 Slingerland "Artist" series snare with 3 ply shell & 8 lugs.
Neil was very meticulous and highly disciplined. You guys honored him well in taking the time to painstakingly tune the drums. "An eternity later" would have made Neil smile. I'm an overly obsessed Rush fan for beyond 40 years. Great job and great playing!
It's so entertaining and fun to watching this kind of video. ❤
I am mind blowing 🤯 to see someone able to drumming Rush songs. It's an amazing skill.
Amazing! Good job guys! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
I see Rush and obviously you've got my like..Thanks for sharing !
Nel✨
The grin on Pascal’s face says it all.
Amazing playing!
Did you consider ordering some Neil Peart signature sticks? I find that playing with oak changes the sound a little bit. Perhaps not enough to really notice on a mixed recording, but it definitely makes a noticeable difference in person.
the snare tone is spot on! the only complaint i have is the toms. usually, only his highest 3 toms were concert toms, but this changed a lot through the years. generally though, i don’t think any *more* than the first 3 were open, and later on he eventually switched to closed heads on all the toms. that and the lack of splashes, but neither of these songs use one so that can pass.
I can’t wait!
You guys should do Carl Palmers drum set, that giant stainless steel hand engraved kit!
He was an exciting drummer to watch live very hard hitter soo many iconic licks influenced millions
his physicality hitting the drum is why most covers aren't right- he was a large human who didn't have to work as hard to get a serious thump out of a strike- some of us have to really go hard to make that much noise
Awesome!!!!!! Best video you’ve done so far!
Neil Peart rules! \m/
Very well done, bravo Pascal! Great playing and great info on the drum tuning, which a was a pet thing of Neil's. He was meticulous on that. This channel is great! I played in a Rush cover band for many years.
The sound is pretty close, especially for using all concert toms.
Fly by Night was all double-headed toms. two 9x13s, a 10x14, and a 16x16. Moving pictures was 6, 8, 10, and 12 inch concert toms and 8x12, 9x13, 12x15, and 16x18 double-headed toms. All with fibreglass coating on the inside for a little extra bite. He was also using Zildjian cymbals during this era.
Awesome. Can’t believe that anyone could recreate Neil’s drumming. Awesome
Excellent work!
Very interesting and a professional dissection of one of my favorite drummers and bands. Thank you.
Larry- Lake Placid, NY
That was cool as hell!
very well done - whenever i see a drummer doing a rush cover its always the drum sound that disturbs me - Neils tight tuning allowed him to play busier but with clarity
Are you kidding me.for the last 35 year's he's been a major influence ony drumming.i myself play in a three piece fusion band.and they chose me to drum for them.
Wonderful work, congratulations!!
Amazing video, thank you for the video
Good video. Explains the technical aspects well of setting up the drums.
“Intelligent groove design.” Great way to put it!
Fantastic work!
I found this video in my feed just as the last song on Fly By Night was playing on my turntable. No lie.
I watched this along time ago and I’m still impressed and how you got the exact fucking sound! You are the master drum sound person as far as I’m concerned, the master of all drum sounds! I wish you were a good friend of mine and we grew up together. You would be a valuable friend in the world of music friends! 😂
Rest in peace neil we love you
Excellent job!
Played it all correctly 👏 💯
I still don't understand why all those other youtube drummers can't play. Rush correctly like pascal did smh.
Good job man 👍
Fantastic video lads! Delivering top quality content as always! I would to see a video about Nicko McBrain one day.
Love it!
