Hi Tony. My Sony a99 has a tilting, extending screen. It's a 35mm full frame digital camera. It's been out since October 2012. By the way, the tilt is much more versatile than this one (and the body has GPS). Just another friendly reminder, don't forget about Sony's offerings in your comparisons (as you did when you said that only Canon and Nikon had full frame 70-200 f/2.8 lenses in another video).

Thank you Tony for this very informative overview. I am one that has not yet invested heavily in lenses, so when I upgrade I can switch from my crop Canon to a full frame Nikon. I was already considering the Nikon D750. Your videos, which are always helpful, have really aided in my decision. You give facts and enough technical details (without completely overwhelming me) in a concise manner which I appreciate. I have so much to learn, but I'm a serious enthusiast endeavoring to grow as a photographer. I wish Canon would get more in the full frame game and create an additional strong contender beyond the 6D, particularly in this price range. Thank you both for all of your work and effort, it shows in your videos.

Finally a full-frame camera with a tilting screen. My prayers have been answered as a macro photographer. Many times when my camera is on a tripod angled down or up on a subject, it's awkward if not impossible to look into the viewfinder. With a tilting screen, I can now use Live View and zoom into my focus point on the screen and make sure focus is dead on before I press the shutter. Nikon nailed it here.

    • @justinsane3909
      @justinsane3909 9 ปีที่แล้ว

My mistake, they didn't exactly nail it, they left the AA filter on the sensor....Not the best for macro photographers looking to achieve maximum sharpness. Now I have to decide between the D5300 or the D750...

It seems that a lot depends on where you're at and where you want to be. I'm shooting the heck out my D7000 and my business is growing and operating in the black. For me, the D750 (specs at least) makes perfect sense. It's worth the extra dollars over the D610. One other feature I've heard you didn't mention is apparently the shutter is extremely quiet... apparently.
Great vid Tony- I look forward to you review once you have an actual camera to test.

Tony i always watch you and Chelsea when i want to get the latest updates on Camera equipment. i got your book, Stunning Digital Photography. It's great thanks. Question i bought the Nikon D5300 when it came out. it has a lot of new features that had not been out yet on other cameras. New Expeed 4 sensor, WiFi and GPS built in, i like the full articulating screen, No AA filter.these are just some of the great things on this camera. i use it daily. shooting bands, car shows, fire works. and so on. it has really been a great camera. i also bought a D300, very good camera. but now i am ready to move up to Full frame. i really like the D750 it has a lot of the same features that my 5300 has. and it is 1000.00 less than the 810. the only thing that bothers me about the D750 is that it has an AA filter. will that make that big of a difference on Picture quality. I don't get why Nikon did this. The D5300 didn't have it. the new D810 doesn't have it. why would they bring that back. any clues, and like i said will it make a big difference you think. thanks for your response.

I own a canon 50D and some basic lenses and am really poised to make the jump to full frame. Would you suggest i wait for the 5D mk4 so i can have a better choice or i go for the D750 nikon? What i like a lot is the tilt screen which for me is useful to take shots and video from high above or real low and i do not think it will feature in the 5dmk4. Also what i like a lot are the wifi feature and the popup flash which is useful when travelling and cannot carry a lot of gear and judging from canon's history it won't feature either in the mk4. Also what lenses would you suggest for a serious enthusiast like me? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

I just got my D750 two weeks ago. I choose it cause of the great AF system , great low light performance.Sure D810 has 36mp plus a neat dial to choose between matrix, spot and center weight .But 1000 extra for the D810 for thise and higher iso whuch i would hardly use too much.So I got the D750.

Is the Sigma lens that you recommend instead of the standard kit lens better than the Nikon 28-300 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens ? If I buy the D750 would only have money left for a walk around lens and a 50mm prime. I like shooting landscapes and portraits basically and sometimes night photography. So I'm at the moment inclined towards the FF D750 rather than 5D Mark II. I am waiting till post Christmas if the price comes down a little

I bought a used nikon D3300 and bought me also a 17-55mm f2.8 for nikon.

Or just buy a D7200 or D7500 and extra zoomlens?

I am going to upgrade to a full frame and considering three combos; D750+85mm1.8G_D610+Tamron70-200f2.8 DiVC(or Nikon70-200f4)_Canon6D+135mmf2L. For me, They are comparable since each of these would cost me the same and I cannot afford more at this moment. I know that 135mm is different from 85mm or a zoom lens is more versatile but since I am more into portrait, a fast medium-long focal length is a must for me. I am not into action photography but I need accurate peripheral fous points since the focus and recompose technique is out of question due to the paper thin DOF. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me which combo would meet my need better.

At the end of the video you talk about how even though D750 has a 24 megapixel sensor depending on the lens we put on it we can get out ONLY 13 or 16 megapixels. Where did you get this information? I have looked at quite a few different tutorials but no one seems to mention anything about it. Some chat groups have expressed that this issue about the LCD info is a mess. Does the D750 have LCD info options or do I now have to persevere with what I just bought?

Metering system jump from 2,016 to 91,000 point might make a massive difference in face recognition for autofocus.
As I understand, DSLR's essentially are limited to using the metering sensor for face recognition.
Mirrorless systems, by contrast, can make full use of the image information for face recognition because the image sensor is continually exposed to the entire scene.
This might explain why my Sony a6000 does face recognition so much better than my Nikon D750. (750 is vastly better in most respects including low light autofocus and overall image quality.)

    Nice preview Tony.
One error, this is 5th FF camera with tilty screen not first.
FF cameras with fully articulated screen, 2 year old Sony A99.
FF cameras with tilty screen; Sony A7, Sony A7R and Sony A7S.
This is first FF DSLR with tilty screen

Hi, When will you bring the real life version on and your view on the real handeling and quality? Would also be awesome to find out what all-in-one lens for this full frame you would recommend? (Looking at Nikkon 28 - 300 or Tamron 28 to 300) not sure what the difference is, any feedback?

I bought that kit lens with my d810 before watching this after hearing Artoftheimage's rave reviews. Used it all day in DC and it was soft as mush! it was alright at 24 but at 120 it was a joke! Been wondering hard what to use as a walkaround, and I trust this guy's review enough to get either the Sigma 24-105 or the Tamron 24-70. Which one?!?! HELP!!!

I am leaping out of Canon (5D MIII) and am almost entirely certain I am going to go mirrorless, with a Fuji XT2. BUT, I do have the D750 on my list of possibilities. What do you think?

I noticed that when shooting video in DX crop mode, the sharpness isn't as good as it is in FX mode. Do you think this has more to do with the lens (16-35mm f/4G) or pixel density of the sensor in DX crop mode vs a true APS-C camera (D5300)? It doesn't make sense since filming at 1080p is only 2MP and both sensors are 24.3MP natively or 16.2MP on the D750 in DX crop mode.

Hi Tony, nice review. One question is how long can the D750
stay in live view before the auto live screen off timer kicks in and shuts off live view. My d5200 turns off after 30 minutes. I would like to use the camera for live concert broadcasting but they all seem to shut off too soon. I heard your side camera shut off during the video and you glanced at it :) I don't need to record to the camera as it would be going liveview out the hdmi port to a blackmagic ATEM TV switcher. Perhaps you could do a test with the hdmi connected to a monitor and see how long it will stay in live view.
I also wish Nikon would have a feature so you can record video without time constraints. Go Pros can do it, one clip ends then It continues to record the next clip without losing any time in between clips.

I would love to know how you compared the sharpness of the Sigma 24-105 with the Nikon 24-120 lense when the N-mount Sigma has not been tested by DXOMark yet? Unless this is speculation based on comparing a C-mount Sigma 24-105 with the Canon 24-105, but that would be a bit useless...

i've seen lots of your videos Tony, but i didnt know that youre a Nikon biased!
can you elaborate a bit on the "more specific lenses" thingy? i mean you can get all the lenses you'd need from other manufacturers such as Sigma.. so is it still an issue to worry about?

  • @BluefanNL

Even with identical sensors the D750 may outperform the D610. The AD converters used to digitize the sensor output also influence the noise performance and these can be different. So see if you can test the camera, saying it performs the same without actual hands--on experience is a premature conclusion.

Tony, another great video. I had decided to get the Nikon D610 until I discovered that the D600 oil problem has apparently been happening with that model also. For this reason only, I decided to go with the D750 instead. The camera alone is way more than I planned to spend and I am having a hard time finding a zoom lens that fits my main need for low light & shooting wide. My old camera is a Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D and the 18-70mm lens (although only a kit) is a great range for me. Is there a decent 18mm or similar zoom that is not super expensive for the D750? I've really been hoping to get an f2.8 for the high iso, but it is beginning to seem impossible without costing a ton of money. Thanks a lot.

Hi Tony, while ignoring Wi-Fi, tilt screen & video, df seems have a better sensor (D4 sensor) but 50% less pixels than D750. what will be the differentiation for buying each one of them? (since price of df dropped) ( and i cant find your review on df, oops)

    Hello Tony,
I actually just bought the Nikon D750 with the kit lens before viewing your video unfortunately & I wanted to buy a second body & I'm debating between the Nikon D3s (used but good condition), or another D750 (brand-new or just used), or a used D810 (also used but good condition), I only shoot JPEG, I don't shoot sports, or wildlife, but pretty much everything else, from Weddings, portraits, live events, fashion shoots you name it… I was originally using the D700 & I was extremely happy with it… It's only drawback it did not have video, I also don't use postprocessing that often except when highly needed… I shoot small clips and/or small episodes… So what is your recommendations for me is the video on the Nikon D3s, horrible? Considering the fact that I shoot only JPEG would the large files of the D810 really make a difference?
Please provide your opinion based on picture quality/sharpness/colors and focusing system.
Thank you very much for your time, I highly appreciate it… :-)

  • @TJMills
    @TJMills 9 ปีที่แล้ว

A consideration for me is the weight of the camera. If you are in the field the D800 is heavier to carry around. The D700 is 750g vs the D810 is 880g.

  • @razrv3lc

The sensor in the D750 is different than the D610. Compare the low light performance and it's obvious that those cameras have different sensors. The D750 does much better than the D610 when using high ISOs.
