    Today I am going to be showing you all how to backup your GBA Bios and games! There are a few methods available using available homebrew on either a GameCube, Wii or DS.
    The first method I am going to cover is using Gameboy Interface by Extrems! Available here: gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php... This method is great for owners of modded or homebrewed GameCube's. It is an easy method and fairly quick at making backups!
    Second Method involves using a GameCube to GBA link cable and either a homebrewed GameCube or Wii. Grab Fix94's GBA Link Cable Dumper available here: github.com/FIX94/gba-link-cab... This method has been very reliable for me but it is very slow compared to other methods out there.
    The last method covered in today's video utilizes a DS flashcart and a DS/Lite. Using Rudolph's GBA Backup Tool available here: www.gamebrew.org/wiki/GBA_Bac... This is the quickest method out of the three and very easy to get set up!
    There are also numerous hardware dumpers available for various Operating Systems and price ranges but I am not going to be covering those today.

    Might be a long shot commenting here, but I cannot access the Dump menu. I have a SD2Memory Card adapter on which there is an autoexec.dol for Swiss 0.5, then I start my GBI from the SD2SP2 slot and it boots the games and everything just fine, but if I start it without a game it just says "Please insert a game" and if I hold the Start/Pause button, I get thrown back to Swiss for some reason.

    Does dumping a game affect the cartridge at all? Like will everything on the cartridge stay normal?

  • @bear5016
    @bear5016 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If your using the first method, through GC, you can use the serial port 2 as well.
    In my experience it works fine, but it's very finicky.
    When dumping multiple games back to back. Remove the game and reset the GC. Let the prompt load again. Insert another game and give it a minute before dumping.

    Hey, does the Wii method work with a bootleg cartridge? I tried and the save came up blank as if there wasn't any save to begin with.
    EDIT:
    I figured it out, on bootleg cartridges, the save is saved on the rom itself so you have to take the rom and then run it through a save extracting program which you can easily find by searching "bootleg gba save file extractor"
    You can run the rom through the extractor and it will give you a .sav file which you can use on emulators.

  • @davidmorin2818

    I tried dumping the BIOS and multiple games using the gba link cable method. It was able to dump everything, but the roms would only load as a blank screen in VBA for both the Wii and my PC as well as mGBA for the Wii. Could it be possible that both dumps are just bad?

    • @ArchadesGames
      @ArchadesGames  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quite a bit of cool Homebrew came with the rise of DS flashcarts. Emulators for many systems even GBA are really cool. You need a cart that has a dual core chip to see decent emulation capabilities though. I got my DS Bios with a flascart which was good for older desmume!

    • @noobking111

    • @ArchadesGames

    Man this is too resource intensive and a lot of work. I think Nintendo, Sony and others should just crackdown on illegal distribution of bios and roms/isos and offer a platform to download bios and roms/isos legally for reasonable prices.
    It's just sad that people have to either do all this legal dumping or illegal bios/ROM downloading just to enjoy retro games and bring back nostalgia 😢
