Thank you for sharing about your health. Your videos are helping me as I am on medical leave for cancer treatments. During the info gathering phase of my issues they found a benign tumor in the middle of my brain that I’m hoping is still benign. Thank you for sharing your amazing, glorious and wholesome videos on your world cruise. I’m also from Michigan and glad you are home safe. God Bless you! 💕

I have knee, and hip replacement and degenerative joint disease in my back. If my back hurts, I change my mattress. It always works. Good luck with it all but if you have to have your knees replaced, it’s so worth it. Take care.

As someone who fought a knee replacement for years, and finally did it, don’t fight it.
Injections are great, but they are only temporary.
Knee replacement surgery hurts like heck but the pain goes away.
It was the best decision I’ve made.

My 63 yr old brother was concerned about his health. He was over weight and had a hard time getting up and down off the floor. He changed his diet and also hired a personal trainer. Regaining muscle is slow but one day he was on the floor - and just stood up with ease. It surprised him. Keep at it! You’ll get there.

Glad to hear you're getting better. I know you're doing the homework to get ready for Egypt. Do you know about the Great Courses? I think both of you, Mike especially, would love Bob Brier's History of Egypt and the newer one on a great tour of Egypt. The history is long, 48 lectures, and absolutely worth every minute.

Started to have serious knee pain a month before a three week European vacation. I suffered through anyway, emphasis on suffer. Cortisone did not help me at all. I had the first knee replaced two months later and the second six weeks after that. If and when you do finally have them replaced you must do your physical therapy. But, as was mentioned earlier, six months later you will be so happy to walk without pain, stairs without pain.

Glad the tumour was benign. I have a benign tumour on one of my kidneys that needs to be kept an eye on.
Hope the injections work. My mother had a knee replacement about 10 or more years ago so I know that the recovery can be hard so you definitely want the other options to work. But in saying that, the mobility she had after the knee replacement was amazing.

Great news! When you are ready have your knees replaced. I know people who have done them one at the time and now in their 80’s and have no regrets and are doing just fine. The trick is to know that you need six months to totally recover from knee surgery. So do one then the following year a second one. You are very active and that is what counts for recovery. 😊😊😊

I’ve become so attached to you both. So sorry to hear about your health issues. Glad you are proactive and have a positive plan in place. I know it won’t be easy. You inspire me. Am much older than you and have a good collection of aches and pains and find it’s so easy to give into them and stop moving. I will follow your example and get exercising! Must get ready for Egypt! Thank you both so much for your generosity to finish your trip videos! Have loved them all! Happy you both (and I) had such a wonderful trip!

I was recently diagnosed with knee arthritis so have been dealing with much of this myself. I am not bone on bone yet but he said I will likely need both knees replaced eventually. Right now treating mostly with physical therapy and pain medication. You are right that getting old is not for the weak. But it definitely beats not getting old! Best wishes for your health journey.

My mom considered knee replacement. I went with her to the doctor who was not only her neighbor but also the knee surgeon for an NBA team. He agreed with me that at her age - late 80s - that it probably was not a good idea. She did not have the surgery

I'm glad you're on the mend, Nancy. Cortisone shots really helped me before I had to have surgery for a rotator cuff tear. About the knee surgery, I read a while back that they can do double knee replacements and that it helps a lot with both recovery time and the imbalance that naturally follows having only one done at a time. Just a thought...
It's always great to see you both, and I'm still enjoying your cruise videos. Thanks a bunch!

Nancy, I too am an RN. I.m 2 years younger than you had four surgeries on my knees as a teenager due to sports injuries, and a total knee at the age of 52 after having been bone on bone for more than a decade, then already. Prior to the total knee I had had a Synvisc injection and steroid shots as well into my knees. One thing that might help with your pain is a tens unit you could use that on whatever area of the body is bothering you. I have one and use it frequently.

Hí Nancy thanks for the update. I know how you feel I have arthritis which is particularly bád in my right knee. I also like you have a back problem due tó an old injury.. I saw my orthopedic surgeon recently they took xrays of my knee which they showed mé and it is bone ón bone thats why it is só painful. We discussed injections but they would not bé suitable. The surgeon suggested a partial knee replacement which would result in mé using crutches & not being able tó drive for four tó six weeks. Its something I will have tó think about. I got a script for strong pain killers but these are very hard on the stomach and may cause dizzyness só I take over the counter tablets when the pain is really bád. Its is all such a pain pardon the pun. Hope you continue tó improve.

Probably the food and diet you were eating had a lot to do with the inflammatory issues you had. Since you are home and focusing on your diet and eating better and more healthy that has also probably helped out along with the injection in the knee has helped improve your mobility. Good luck with continuing on your health improvement for your exciting traveling coming up.

Changing my diet saved me from debilitating back pain, nerve pain, joint pain, muscle pain, digestive issues, raised blood pressure, 20kg over weight. It took around 8 months for all these problems to resolve. I'm completely pain free and never felt and looked healthier.
Since 2020 I've only been eating fatty meats, seafood, eggs and dairy.
Prior to that I was eating the mainstream version of a healthy diet (lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains, low fat, eating the rainbow etc) for decades and watching my health slowly decline.
Dr Anthony Chaffee, Dr Paul Mason, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr Gary Fettke, Dr Benjamin Bikman, Dr. Malcolm Kendrick, all helped me get my health back.
    See "No Carb Life".
