My theory is that the sandworms are a post sentient alien that underwent its own golden path, and through its own prescient vision saw that the route to its survival lay in turning themselves into the worm and seeking symbiosis with humanity.
Every known life in the Dune universe descends from Earth. Plants and animals were imported by early human explorers. Except the Arrakis sandworm and its whole cycle, from sand plankton to sand trout to giant sandworm. It's the only alien life humanity ever encountered.
this is the fiction part in the science fiction. it's physically impossible for these creatures to survive in that size or to move around in the sand like that to begin with
Sandworms eat sand plankton, their species' "spore" stage. Sand plankton does photosynthesis on the surface sands. Sand plankton then turns into sand trouts, then trouts turn into sandworms. Their species is a complete biome by itself. PS: worms CAN'T get nourishment from eating carbon-based lifeforms, like humans and all other animals and plants. They're not based on carbon, nor water. They just kill because they're territorial, they provoke mass extinctions on planets they contaminate. All they need is for their own spores to multiply into sand plankton and produce energy from sunlight.

Well symbiosis with humanity makes sense, God Emperor of Dune when he dies sand trout end up with his memory's due genetic memory.
Interesting video. 👍🏻
Ecaz sounds very interesting, would like to know more about the planet
I wonder why i like F.H.❤❤❤
I mean, there’s many animals on Arrakis. So more than just the worms

@ interesting, I thought the other animals were there already. Got it
Spice is sandworm poop.
*sandtrout poop loll
The dune universe would never develop.
I can't get into it.
As far as I'm concerned, anything written in the Dune series after Frank died, is non-canon.
😊
What are they eating that allows them to grow that damn big?!?!
let's just say not everyone can walk without the rythm

@@solarydays why?
Dune is simply not very good scifi. Dune appeals to the OCD crowd only.
