Nasty hops, reminds me of some of the guys I grew up with who could dunk at that height except they were older. Never seen the combination of the height and young age dunking. Extremely impressive!
As a 13 year old myself, I’m calling Madden my rival. I’ve picked up basketball since november and I found it as my passion, before I was a lazy gamer over 115 pounds as a 10 year old during the pandemic, I’ve slimmed down to 110 pounds as a 13 year old (somehow). Seeing Madden, I want to work harder than I’ve ever have before towards my dream, I’ve started to do full body workouts in the gym, practice Plyometric vertical excercises, and most importantly practiced basketball, observing professional’s reaction’s to certain situations. Wish me luck!
When I was 14 I was 5'7" and could also dunk. I created multiple high jump records and basketball records in middle school and high school, but then got burnt out on both sports during high school. I worked hard doing a jumping program called air alert that increased my vertical from 28" when I started to 39" by the end. What happens to most topic prospects that have a promising future when they are very young is they either get burned out and quit, get injured and have to quit, or never hit a growth spurt and then it doesn't matter how high they can jump. Speaking from personal experience from my time in high school varsity basketball, despite setting the all time 3-point record for my high school (which is a record that has stood for almost 20 years in southern California school), having a 39" vertical, and great endurance (being able to run 4 miles in 20 mins), I only had one division one school interested in me. Fortunately that one school was all I needed, but the fact is no matter how good you are (skills, strength, endurance, jumping ability, etc.) it won't matter unless he grows to be minimum 6'4"; and even then it will take more than a mere 40" vert to make it to the NBA at that height. If his dream is to go to college on a full ride scholarship, he will most likely achieve that goal. However, if this video is suggesting he is on his way to the NBA b/c he can dunk at 13, you are setting this kid up for disappointment
He is very good , my son can keep up with him when we played him against Blue Chips we lost by a point only because it was early and they play all year round, we were transitioning from football to basketball don't get me wrong if you are not athletic good luck guarding him.
EVERY time a big issue is made of the next amazing player while they still very young it causes the hype to go to their head and they stop trying so hard.
