the new UYI box set was really disappointing. it would have been nice to have some unreleased material. plus, a person had to buy UYI individually to get some bonus live songs that weren't included in the box set.

Hey dudes- Over the years I often contemplated this same exact conversation. And I agree, Appetite is a standalone, standout album in rock history. And the Illusions follow-up is littered with “bloated fat.” But there’s good shitte in there too… Using your song selections, here is the album I would have put together. Trust me!! And enjoy!! USE YOUR ILLUSION 1. You Could Be Mine 2. Perfect crime 3. Garden of Eden 4. The Garden 5. Civil War - 6. Locomotive 7. November Rain 8. Double Talkin’ Jive 9. Breakdown 10. Coma LMK…
it is very similar musically to Rod Stewarts "i don't want to talk about it" (which was originally by Danny Whitten from Crazy Horse) which is a great song
I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.........................if nothing else, it's WAY TOO LONG! (Always liked the video at least, even if I don't get some of the symbolism in it).
i agree the best songs are You could be mine and The garden. but still not quite Appetite level. the Lies Ep didnt do anything for me and that was probably just buying time to produce another full length album.they should have taken the best songs and released 1 album for illusions.the songs picked i can agree on.then a few years later use some left over tracks with new ones written in as well.plus improvements to the leftovers.but they tried something different.in hindsight a jumbled mess.
It would sukk even more hardcore. I mean I can listen to the first one & if it sukkz real bad then I'm not gonna go any further. Well you buy a double album & first it's more expensive than a single & back in the day; like 99% of albums never had more than 1 or 2 good songs. I've listened to Use Your Illusion & it sukkz ballz hardcore 🤢🤮
Izzy was the Malcolm Young of G&R. He was also a pre G&R, Hollywood Rose. After Izzy left, no one could put Axl in his place after Izzy left.
And nobody knows how to shape hard rock song .
The song writing was non existent after Izzy left too.
Steven getting the boot was the beginning of the end for me. Once Izzy left, it was all over. But what a glorious five year run.
November Rain is the Kokomo of hard rock.

Coma. Best song hands down.
I hate November Rain. It's actually non-descript ...phony epic
me too, and i seem to be in the vast minority; always hated it.
