  • This video takes you through putting all your flight plan information from your SimBrief OFP into the MCDU in the A320. It shows you how to set up the INIT A, INIT B and input your full flight plan from scratch, just as real pilots do.
    For more information on how to input and calculate the Flex Temp and Trim Settings, please see:- • MSFS2020 A320 - Next L...

    Nice explanation Gav.
    When you enter the flight plan make sure you DO include adding the arrival STAR and arrival runway from the OFP. Remember, the OFP is your plan on what you expect to do and all the data in the FMGC needs to display similar figures. You want to make a gross error check when the flight plan is in the box so it gives a similar mileage to what’s on the OFP. This way you can be sure the route is more or less correct. This is critical for us as we download the flight plan from datalink 99% of the time so we want to make sure the flight plan that has been downloaded, is the same as the flight plan we’ve been given by ops. Sometimes, flight plans change at the last minute!
    Having the complete flight plan in also helps when completing the INIT B page. If the complete route is in, when you enter the ZFW/ZFW C/G, the block fuel and trip winds, the TRIP/TIME figures on the left should be very accurate and again correspond with your trip/time figures off the OFP. Again this is a gross error check that the flight plan in the FMGC is correct.
    Incidentally, the mileage and trip/fuel figures in this example weren’t exactly the same as the OFP. I think that’s just a sim thing that gives a bit of a discrepancy.
    But inputting the whole route before you do the INIT B page is a good habit to get into. Once you’re airborne, THEN You can amend the arrival if it changes. 👍
    Block fuel off the OFP. This is a minimum. If you need to add more fuel because of expected delays, bad weather en-route and at destination or tankering, don’t feel bad by adding to it. And ALWAYS round up! It’s on the conservative side. If block fuel is 8,440 kgs; round it up to a nice 8.5 tonnes.
    With respects to your take off trim. You really don’t need to calculate anything. Once you’ve loaded the required fuel, look at your CofG on the weight page. It will give you a loaded Mean Area Chord as a percentage (%). This is your take off stabiliser setting that you set after engine start. In this instance it was 26.26% rounded to 26.3%. So, when you’ve started the engines, move the trim wheel so that it’s at 26.3%. It’s not something I ever see you do to be fair. 🙈 😉 Again we don’t use units (up/down) of trim. We could get it wrong or mixed up! You won’t get the percentage wrong as it’ll only be one value. This is another reason why we don’t enter it on the Perf page. 👍

    You can skip all the scrolling for direct waypoints. In the flight plan just enter the next waypoint in the scratchpad. If you then press a button next to an existing waypoint in the flight plan it will add the one from your scratchpad above that. So enter your waypoint, press the destination button and done. Saves a ton of time and no scrolling required. (Works an the A320NX mod, not sure about the vanilla)

    • @Easyjetsimpilot
      @Easyjetsimpilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I just need get the streaming software to recognise them. In the real A320, if your flight plan is mostly made up of airways, then you can just enter airway after airway & the waypoints will auto populate. This isn't yet working in MSFS however.

    Why on my Simbried report I have very very few waypoints? Sometimes cannot find the proper arrivarl or departure into the MCDU because of that. I only have very few waypoints and usually it shows me "dct" on the closet ones to the airport, difficult then to chose the proper departure way. If I do the same for this flight seems complete enough the OP Route but on other cases I'm missing the most important parts, depature and arrival routes. I'm able to complete the route, end the flight, etc.. but I lose lot of time by findind proper routes at the beginning..
    What to do also the some waypoints, stars and router are missing in the game? No need to insert speed or FL on any waypoint? (expecially the departures and the arrival routes)

      The fuel burn in the aircraft isn't yet accurate so in fact, you burn a lot less fuel than you plan to. This will change in new upcoming FBW releases.

    Hi EasyJetSimPilot, Informative Video, Thanks for the Details, Have one question , where do i get the Trip Wind information. i dont see it on sim brief.. Cheers

      All of the different flight plans display their information differently. The plan I use is the Easyjet layout (this can be selected from the drop-down menu on the top right hand side of SimBrief)

      From memory, I think it's in the settings menu, under 'Misc'

    IDK if youll see this or if anyone can respond but, Back in the early 2000's there was a route planner that not only planned a route but also included the arrivels and departure waypoints as well as the ability to set altitudes per waypoint then upload it to your FMC. This was a huge help for flying airliners and using autopilot. Does anyone know if this still exists. I used sim brief but from what i can tell it does give your the route but not the arrival or depature waypoints.

      Simbrief will give you the SID and STAR for your route. Of course, air traffic control can change these.
      The altitude constraints are brought in automatically according to the published SID and STARs. You can amend these, however, in reality, you never would as they are part of the fixed flight routing.

    How did you scroll on the MCDU screen for checking the flightplan? I have a suggestion - there are some softwares available which make your cursor highlighted in the video, so if you could uses it then the viewers will be able to follow your cursor.

    Could you do a tutorial on all the different procedures for emergencies just curious about that and perhaps for the radio settings just getting into Airbuses I am a bit of a noob.

    • @Easyjetsimpilot
      @Easyjetsimpilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's on the to do list. However it is actually really difficult to correctly simulate everything that must be done by a 2-man crew in the flightdeck following an emergency procedure.

    i often have the problem that the STAR from Simbrief isnt in the list of the mcdu.
    for example when i have eddm as arrival and i click on the ils rwy 27R (because sim brief has given me this rwy) i can select different STARs, but the STAR from sim brief isnt showen.
    The same problem appears at the departure Airport with SID

    In my Sim, the CG is not shown on the payload and fuel page when the simulation has already started. It's only shown when opened via the "globe page". Did you use a mod to bring that information up? Thanks for the tutorials!
