    That was a great video. pre ignition- ponging, lean mixture, valve timing, ring gap to tight. I bought a basket case motorcycle. The top of the piston broke off at the rings. After former owner installed a new carburetor, and timed it. Looks like lean mixture, and pre ignition. Thanks for the info. keep up the good work

    That piston with two holes in it, sure could have had a couple of dropped valves, but it could have also been a victim of pre-ignition. That will destroy a piston instantly, and blow a hole through it very easily.

    Very informative especially for wookies. Customers often lie hoping to get free replacements. But tell us why you do not use a 7000 series aluminum,stong as steel, for pistons or steel for pistons as is done with Diesels?

    I am reusing our 2004 corolla pistons from one engine to another being rebuilt.pistons have little gauges and irregularities but my machinist saying they are good for re-use, no cracks, no wear on the skirts. I want to buy new ones but the car is so old that it may not be worth it, already expending a fortune on the bearings and piston rings from Maleh, only thing i am doing is drilling an extra oil hole per side per piston

    Could a low rpm, around 3500, 200hp nitrous setup explosion, cause multiple pistons to slap?

    This guy seems to be knowledgeable in his field. However, I don't think I could ever do business with him after what I have recently learned. I would think that the company- Carrillo, would be advised of this man's history and find another representative. THE WORD IS OUT ON HIM.

    Will work for pistons/rods!

    What about Ceramic Coating? I am thinking of coating the tops of my positions with CBD ceramic. The question is how much does the position expand when coated by a ceramic. Does the coating of the tops of the position impact the Thermal expansion of the rings?

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coatings won't save you from a bad tune. The Alky pistons are a clear sign of a bad tune. Enthusiast loathe to blame themselves for installation or tuning errors and rather blame the manufacturer because without the part inspected they seldom spend time on social media to defend themselves.

    Interesting. Soft pistons . Who would have known . We ALL have a Rockwell tester in our tool boxes. don't we. I do not know why pistons are not made of steel. They could be lighter and stronger than Aluminum. 7000 aluminum could be used also. All the abuse amateurs heap on engines it is a wonder they run as long as they do. Starting fluid is the worst thing you can do yet you do not mention it.

      braderrick What do you mean? What about him?

    • @braderrick
      @braderrick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SpenserRoger he has ripped off countless customers and lied over and over in his own business ventures building engines and such. He has used his own name, as well as “J’s performance” and others. Scams people out of money and never sends their parts and moves on to something else. I’m sure CP Carrillo is a great company and I hope he doesn’t cause them any issues with his dishonesty but they should really choose carefully who will represent them and their products.

I've encountered a few people that fit in his category, and it certainly leaves a burning memory that can't be shook. Making it hard to trust anyone. Thanks for your reply, and believe that Karma will catch up with shitballs like this. I have come to learn that Karma can take years to happen, but it carries some very heavy interest when it hits. Paul Atkinson thanks for the response, I’m really not trying to offend anyone just stating the facts and hopefully keeping someone else from going through this. 4K isn’t a lot of money to some big racing teams but it is a lot to my family and I. My dad has to save up for that and then it was just stolen basically. He is currently trying to restore an old 67 Camaro (at the age of 61) like the 68 he had way back in the day and he wants to do it right but still on a budget somewhat. The good news is that not all people are crooks like Bryce. Thanks to the great Steve Schmidt, dad still has the mean small block he wanted for his pro street Camaro lol. That 4K sure would go a long way on a paint job and the interior though. Thanks again.

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dome pistons work just fine, if you do it right. Lots of people don't do it right. Just making CP and others LOTS of money until they either learn or get out of the game. You can only deck the block/head so far.
