A 17-year-old has been diagnosed with one of the most extreme cases of Tourette’s in the world - but with the help of ground-breaking treatment, his constant tics are beginning to ease. Trevor Smith, from Iowa, USA, received an initial diagnosis when he was just eight years old, with doctors identifying mild tics in his hands, neck and around his eyes. Now a freshman at college, Trevor has spent his teenage years experiencing uncontrollable jerks and twists to his body, with none of the available treatments working.

@@christophersmith4022 @Christopher Smith Christopher Smith hi Trevor's dad, any updates on how he's doing? I saw this video on Snapchat (profile name is "Born Different") about Trevor's story instantly latched onto my heart and I've been googling like crazy hoping to find any updates on how he's feeling and how the DBS treatment is going. I also use a Neurstimulator (housed in my back) but it's for pain control and for my bladder (Interstitial Cystitis), there's definitely good days and not so good days. It's been interesting to learn how to live with it, listen to how my body responds, and figuring out the happy place with the voltage and frequency. I use humor as a way to cope and have any had many surgeries including top and bottom jaw surgery (cadaver bone, plates, screws implanted) so I always joke that I'm a cyborg (like RoboCop) with the Neurstimulator and my metal face.
      Lastly, I signed a pledge at tourettepledge.org/
in honor of Trevor. I've never used TS as a punchline or slur but I recognize signing the pledge is a way to show support and raise awareness.
I have a feeling Trevor is going places in life and will continue to make an impact on people.

Good call on the gummies 👍
Smoking makes it really hard to control the doses. I use them for stomach & depression issues. If I have to smoke I only take like half a lungful & only retain it to the count of 3. The gummies I cut n2 quarters.
I have found that most people totally overdose on marijuana. Most of the negative side effects r due to overdose. Getting lazy & stupid means TOO MUCH. I've gotten alot of people to try only using a tiny amount compared to their usual & they r always shocked at the difference. In appropriate doses, it has mild stimulant properties. Makes u feel motivated & improves concentration which is practically the opposite of a overdose effect.
U may find that the CBD part without the THC part of pot would help with your Tourettes better. The THC is the part that gets u "high" but the CBDs r what have medicinal properties for things like seizures. Unfortunately, there's alot of CBD products out there now & MANY r garbage. If u try it, b sure to do some research & find a quality one. I bet the right stuff would make a drastic difference n ur ticks. CBD is being used to completely STOP seizures n people with very bad epilepsy.
      Good Luck! 👍😊

First off, I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to see a Tourette's documentary without cussing aka copralalia, because it's usually the only thing highlighted. Less than 10% of the TS population has that. Second, that title (worst case in America) is sensationalism. His case is as bad as mine and some of my friends in the TS community. People need to understand that TS is often physically injurious and for many of us that is the norm.

@@elihernandez800 I don't have TS so I can't say much, but I can say that it isn't fair to try to judge the harshness of someone else's experience. In a different video I saw about someone with TS, the woman said that she could suppress them to a degree, although it required a lot of concentration and was painful. This guy has slight relief from music. You are only seeing a fraction of Brynne's life, and there is no way for you to know the severity of her condition at it's worst, as you can't read her mind, and I'm guessing that when she is having a bad day with it, she probably doesn't want to film.
