So Rooney plays a large part in getting a Birmingham team, that should have been mid table at least, relegated and Plymouth who were very nearly relegated and are probably going to be battling relegation again decide that he's the man to take them up the table next season? I can't make sense of it.
He’s famous
Maybe they think he can improve as a manager given he's still in his 30s? People can learn from failure.
I bet you are fine with Kongony getting the Bayern job though.
Because they think the name might sell a few shirts.
why mid table at least ? they've struggled every season for years and years
Poor Plymouth , soon to be refered to as "Wayne Rooneys Plymouth" .
Rooney ain't a motivator. His players see right through him. He's living on his playing career.
Stick to sitting in a studio reminiscing with Gary and Roy about "when we used to play"
Why do you CHOOSE to WRITE every verb in capital letters? It LOOKS and SOUNDS stupid
People are saying this is a terrible appointment, but to be fair, Rooney did play a major role in keeping Plymouth in the Championship last season. . . .by dragging Birmingham City down.
So Rooney relegated Derby, relegated Birmingham and now Plymouth asking for the same 😂
Something wrong about this,he was on 29 grand a week at Birmingham, Shuey was on 4 grand,we have no playing budget, chairman openly seekin another 20% investment into the club, zero money spent in the January window, the ground is criminally small, there are currently,4500 people on a waiting list for season tickets, how are we gonna pay his wages?
Absolutely disgusting he is getting this job. He relegated Birmingham and has proven in every role he is utterly incompetent
I keep seeing him blamed for brum but let's be fair, it's over a 40 game season and he managed 15 games. How at fault was he and how much was the club. Eg you could throw pep guardiola at the chelsea and United jobs and he'd fail. Not necessarily his fault but the clubs are run like a burnt out bus
@@ashwilliams4959 come on stop being daft. 15 games he did so much damage took them from 6th into a relegation battle and was so bad they got rid. He was awful at Washington 27% win ratio and absolutely awful at Derby. Good players don’t make good managers or leaders and sick to death or people getting free passes for good jobs when no where near good enough.
@Jtggllkyhfff I don't really know much about his career, am actually asking lol
I did see more of his time at Derby, but they had massive problems off the pitch, things unrelated to any manager so he was doomed to fail there. Didn't pay attention to his time in USA not interested in soccer 🤦♂️ with brum all I know is he had 15 games and lost most of em. but wasnt he there at the start of the season? If so then yeah his prep for the season failed but if he took over while they were 6th sounds like a mid season take over.
I'm not giving him a free pass or anything, just a worried plymouth fan trying to understand more about Rooney as a manager
@@ashwilliams4959 you should be very worried as a Plymouth fan sadly.
He did a great job at birmingham he sent them down 😂😂😂😂
To be fair, he has already helped to keep Plymouth in the Championship though.
It's over a 40 game season. Rooney managed 15 games? Obviously a bad start but how much of it was Rooneys doing?
@@ashwilliams4959They were doing OK before Rooney arrived a few weeks into the season.
@portcullis5622 ah so it was Rooney then.. ah 💩
How does Wayne Rooney get this job ahead of someone like Liam Rosenior who did a good job at Hull.
Rosenior turned Plymouth down
@@kierantv9857 Yeah, Rosenior will get a better job than Plymouth in the Championship. Thought he did a very good job at Hull and can't understand why they sacked him. Would be surprised if his hat's not in the ring for the Norwich job.
Rooney needs to stick to punditry. He ain’t a manager.
Lmao have you heard him on podcasts and shows? He’s awful at that too, probably should just coast into the sunset
@@matthewm3869he is good as a pundit doesn’t hold back
@@matthewm3869 Rooney achieved more than you would in 1,000 life times
He’s awful at punditry. Dour, uncharismatic & has nothing relevant or interesting to say.
Go to Plymouth, will get him off Stick To Football podcast.
@@VoiceOfThe Rooney achieved more than you would in a thousand life time's.
If I was wayne Rooney, I would look for a Coaching Job and take things from there. If he fails at Plymouth, I cannot see him getting another Managerial job
It’s a real mystery why more of these top line ex pros don’t do this. Of course a few do, but far too many of the big names feel they don’t need this step in their coaching journey.
Take a step back, take on a coaching gig, see where it takes you.
@@theianprender-cast3863 I can only assume that their ego comes before making the sensible decision
Especially as you could learn from a great manager this way
They said that after being sacked by Birmingham
And if that is the case he'll be fine. He made a few quid from his playing days. Worst case scenario, he fails at Argyle and he'll go in to punditry work. All the best to Rooney.
Awful appointment by Argyle. This had got Neil Dewsnips hands all over it. The Owner Simon Hallet really needs a new DoF as Dewsnip has outstayed his welcome. Only reason Rooney was picked is because Dewsnip knew him from way back, in the same way he knew Ian Foster. Clearly Plymouth have an amateur recruitment policy, no research just scouse mates. A ridiculous way to run a football club.
Because of Wayne, Plymouth survived.
I doubt he's leant anything from his time at my club (Blues). He absolutely destroyed us. We never wanted him and it comes as no surprise to see that the Plymouth fans don't want him either. He did absolutely nothing to warm himself to the fans. He has no self awareness, no man management 6 way of connecting with the fans. I can't believe any club is giving him a chance.
I fear the worst for Plymouth. I feel for them and the fans. He brings nothing but toxicity and negativity.
KRO 💙
Erm em erm em shut it Simon 🤔
yeah credit to wayne for the determination and to plymouth for seeing that determination, good luck to the lad
Rooney was a great player but I can’t imagine him ever succeeding at management for various reasons. His best role would be in a coaching capacity. Baffles me apart from commercial reasons & football contacts why any club would take an interest in him
Someone tell Wayne about Skim milk.
He needs to start league 1 clubs first 😅
Wanting to succeed is very different to actually succeeding. Nothing in Rooney' past indicates things will go well. The odds are higher that he will fail and we will all know by late September.
Dear oh dear! As a blues fan .. Plymouth steer well clear.
I think Rooney should be a number 2 for a few years. Ease his way back into management see how others handle players man management etc.
Well, he managed like a number 2 💩 at Birmingham.
Wazza gonna hit the struggle bus again.
Rooney did a great job at keeping Plymouth up last season tbf.
If Wayne Rooney manage the way he looks, it’s not looking bright for any club in the future.
`and if you`re fool enough to employ him thats on you`.....! Says it all really, are we (Argyle) so desperate that we have to go for a man that has failed consistantly as a manager? If he wasn`t called Wayne Rooney, and didn`t have a connection with Niel Dewsnip, would he even get an interview? Poor ambition and common sense from the club if this goes ahead, and will probably lose the faith with many PAFC supporters. Maybe we have been knocked back by prefered candidates and ARE getting desperate to get anyone in charge of game day so that Dewsnip and Nancekivell can stick with their day jobs!
plymouth fans are so laid back most people down there don't even like football, seems like a good place for him to go , the expectations will be super low. Home games are like a library
Home games are like a library??😅😅😅😅😅😅 really!!
Its actually a genius move. This has put us on the map. I've never known the football world to be talking about argyle this much. Admittedly Rooney could turn out to be awful but the attention will undoubtedly pay off over the next few years
@@danneal6510clearly never been to a home game. I've been to the kop at anfield and there wasn't much difference except stadium size
@@ashwilliams4959 genius move what are you on about,in what way will the attention pay off when we are back in league 1 or 2,he is not a manager, record is terrible to put it mildly, alianates the fans and players at every club hes been at,ask Whittaker what hes like,he very rarely takes training because of other commitments, wont move from Cheshire and his ego is almost as big as his waste line,Parsnip needs sacking over this one
Anyone that can't manage themselves through diet, lifestyle would be a red flag for any management position
His reps were in touch with Argyle, I can’t imagine he was on their radar until that point.
he dosen't need to prove anything to you simon. Good on him for giving it a crack and i hope he learns from his previous expierence
For Rooney, this is a lifeline for his coaching career. As a Plymouth Argyle fan, I think it’s a very bad fit. Argyle has a very limited budget compared to other Championship teams. Rooney will not get the expensive players he wants. He will have to get the most out of the players he has. He will have to use motivation, tactics, teaching, and player evaluation to get his players to overachieve. I don’t see any evidence that he is good at any of that.
No thank you
He was manager of Birmingham for 13 weeks 13 WEEKS! Rooney's last roll of the dice now. Let's hope he proves himself in the dugout.
Madness
Plymouth Argyle are not a yo-yo club like Rotherham United.. silly to make out they are so they can't ever really get established in the Championship which is nonsense. Biggest city in UK to have never had a top flight club. Rooney should be aiming for more than just simply surviving in that league next season.
Ball is back in Rooney's court but all evidence shows that he will fail at Plymouth. I am sure that he wants to succeed but he is simply an outstanding player but bad Manager
Well that should be plymouth relegated next season if he gets the job 😂
As a long time Man United fan, I've got to say that Wayne Rooney isn't a manager. Great players don't make great, or even good managers, with a few exceptions.
Good players don’t always make good managers !!! And his head is like a 3 piece sweet
Reason browse this link to see the response of fans on Rooney.
The mgmt must have seen something good or there might be some undertake agreement as unable to understand why club hiring Rooney. Similar situation on P.Neville. R.Keane knows how to measure himself as decided not to become mgr after less successful career. Even that, I think his record is much better than both.
As an Argyle fan...Take the least successful manager and give him to a club that escaped relegation by a point and is probably the most difficult Club in Europe to manage, at one of the most football isolated cities in Europe, with the lowest budget in the Championship....it can only work! Premier here we come or, administration again!
I would say the last person Wayne Rooney has to prove anything too is Simon Jordon.
Rooney’s agent has to be the greatest of all time
No money in Plymouth Argyle always playing on shoestring budget
Will be massive test for Rooney
As a Birmingham fan I want to laugh at Plymouth, but also being a Birmingham fan, I believe that our club is cursed and can be a laughing stock - wouldn’t surprise me if he went to Plymouth and did well ffs 😅 be typical.
If I was Rooney I would manage my team in the way he played no fear and no Charlies in the squad.
Plymouth let’s be honest are gonna struggle next season whoever is the manager I think this is a bad move for Wayne cos they are likely to be at the bottom or near the bottom all season and then that will be Wayne judged when I think whoever is in charge the same outcome for Plymouth would happen anyway
Plymouth fan. Not happy. All i can say
Birmingham supporter here, you are right to be unhappy and you have my deepest sympathies on the sad loss of your football club.
I'm still waiting for Simon Jordan to prove himself as a football club owner.
Good one
Wayne Rooney got the job at Birmingham purely because he was a name, not because he was a good manager. Blues supporters were dreading his appointment and were right to do so. He came in and tried to change both the make up of the team, who were 6th at the time and the way they played, even though they had won the previous 2 games. He thought he knew better, he didn't. Birmingham dropped down the League like a stone and when he was sacked we were in a relegation battle. If it wasn't for the name 'Wayne Rooney', he would never even be considered for a managers job.
He kept Plymouth up last season. Maybe he can do it again?
R i p plymouth😢
East left the board last season.
Plymouth are too sensible to appoint him, I have a feeling that Martin would make a good manger should he get the inclination for such a role, Unlike Rooney and Gerrard who have the inclination but lack lack the skill set for such a role.
You like that Wayne Rooney is a hypocrite? He literally complained about 12.30 kick offs in his playing career and that was to do with eating pasta not being fit enough or enough break between games
Keown using Wikipedia for his Plymouth info!
I wouldn't put him in charge of running a bath
Wayne never should've took that job, who's advising him ? One of the lowest budgets in the Championship, barely survived relegation, what's he hoping to achieve there ? Would've been better going to a bigger League One club and getting them promoted
Give him three months top from the start of the season. Plymouth have clearly lost the plot.
Plymouth has a target next season.... to get relegated to league 1 with rooney as head coach.
He did a ok job a Derby they had alot of issues and he kept it to the last day against Birmi gham of all teams so birmi gham were never going to push for play offs or anythi g like it and had time after Roo ey left to stay up but obviously werent good enough
They were good enough before he took over. 6th in the league and won the previous 2 games.
@@Bluejohn agreed but i dont think hes the sole cause of them getting relegated, its Plymouth i could be offered the job no one care lol
Bro wants to become a successful coach at all cost. Should focus on becoming a pundit instead.
Can you all just critique and stop getting click bait
Without rooney as a manager plymouth would have been relegated .
so what exactly is your point m8 because plymouth are expected to get relegated in your opinion then it doesnt matter who the manager is then🤔 what is ironic about your comment is without rooney birmingham city would certainly not of been relegated from the championship last season they were in a play off position when he took over there ffs🤣
@simonoliver8576 that what I'm saying without rooney been manager of Birmingham Plymouth would have been relegated
@@marc.the.red1987 ok then m8 now I understand where you are coming from no worries 😁 I thought you meant he was a good choice for plymouth manager now I mean as I said birmingham city were in a decent position when he took over play off spot I think its one thing not to get them promoted but to practically get them relegated from where they were when he walked in is nothing short of ridiculous really 🤣
@simonoliver8576 no probs pal complete opposite plymouth can do better than that . I'm just happy we haven't ended up with him at barnsley lol
Sir Simon = Top LAD Proper Clobber ✊
Wayne Rooney is a football legend and a hero of mine, but:-
He is a managerial failure. Nothing about him indicates he is a leader, strategic thinker, man manager, motivator or coach.
I wouldn't put him in charge of my pub team and that's not an insult, he just hasn't opened his eyes to the situation.
If I was a Plymouth fan, I wouldnt want him!
Rooney is so ingrained in his new job that he is holding his contract as a pundit for the Euro's with the BBC! Not the best image Wayne with your single brain cell.
Bit of a personal obsession this. Is it because Rooney’s richer and more successful?
It is a sports news story, and they talk... sport? Can you wipe your own backside by any chance?
Simon knows very little about Argyles recent years clearly
I’m guessing he could manage a pie 🥧
He can re-start from the bottom leagues
In my opinion Wayne has some great ideas and understands the tactics of the game.I think given the chance ,he can become a successful manager.
Really. You need a personality to be a manager.
A lot of people have that same capacity, even the ones that play FM on pc.....and they don't manage any club!
If he has great ideas and understands the tactics of the game why has he been a failure everywhere he has managed.?
These people just keep getting opportunitie just because they want it. Steve Bruce says he wants another job, so he'll get one. Must be great to be them.
Rooney is trading on his playing career. And that good will is running dry..
Rooney keeps taking dreadful jobs and it’s making him look even worse.
Derby at the time were bankrupt and had barely any players in the squad.
Then he goes to DC United who are not one of the top sides in the MLS, again it makes him look bang average.
Birmingham was probably the best job he had, at least they could potentially challenge for a Top 6 finish but he failed.
Now Plymouth.. Why Plymouth? They’ll be heavy relegation candidates for next season and it’s only going to make him look bad again.
He’s far better off managing a top side from a league below. Or even going to a top side in a weak European league, say.. Sweden/Finland/Belgium etc..
Let's be honest. Great player, but a difficult listen/watch.
How any club could employ Rooney is beyond me . He's failed everywhere he's managed
Wayne rooney doesnt give a damn about Simon Jordan who thinks hes sime kind of high priest
Give him the chelsea job
Nah . The man ure job
Tbf we are yet to see a great English manager since Bobby Robson at Newcastle 🤷♂️ And even he didn’t win anything major
Aye ok Simon
As a player this guy was top of his game .. tbh anything he does from now on in doesn’t matter as he has nothing to prove to anybody especially 3 pundits who were never ever top of their games which is why they are on a 2 bob radio station..crack on Wayne 👍
Wayne Rooney is not a manager
Martin adds nothing to these conversations
That’s Plymouth relegated . What do clubs see In this potato 🥔? He was a good player . He’s not a manager at all ever
Tbh nobody is arsed about Simons opinion, except his own ego.
Says the fella watching a video that literally has it in the title that it's his opinion on Rooney going to Plymouth
@@chucky7826 Let me rephrase, nobody respects his opinion
How many people want to hear yours?
Like u
Too intelligent for some people mate.
Liam Rosenior carried him at Derby and he failed miserably at Birmingham so what on earth are Plymouth seeing in him?
ha ha joke he's not a manager
Rain Rooney
He couldn't even manage to take a step off burgers how much more managing a team
Bit like you trying to manage to grasp the English language 😂😂
@@BFG100 English language?? Kid wake up! Britain isn't the main character in the world anymore
It's America..Africa is even getting pumped up 😂
Im a Plymouth argyle fan 💚💚💚 and i for one will give him a chance !!!!!!
And lads Plymouths resources are not bad at all so stop 🛑 just assuming! Just because we are not a massive name we are a city that loves our football club and he will prove you wrong !
Rooney can't even manage to run let alone coach a team
Damn there are alot of delusional people about.
Its a genius move by Plymouth.
Rooney in football terms is a massive name.
The attention Plymouth will generate will be huge.
