Other than Paul Williams, Dennis Edwards was arguably the most underrated Temptation. Even though Dennis was not an original member of the group, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Classic 5 members of the Temps, and he outlived Melvin, Eddie, Paul, David, Damon, Richard, and Ali-Ollie. I so wish he had written a book to tell The Temptations' story from his lifelong perspective. Dennis definitely defined The Temptations' vocal sound for the late 1960s and much of the 1970s. May he Rest In Peace.

@@latteliz1944 Yeah. Once Dennis left The Temptations for good, he founded his own spinoff group called The Temptations Review Featuring Dennis Edwards. They performed many of The Temptations classics during and before Dennis's time with the group. They had a good sound. I guess Dennis didn't have the desire to write a book, or he was worried that Otis might sue him because he (like Richard Street when he wrote his book, Ball of Confusion, published posthumously in 2014) didn't have anything nice to say about Otis, understandably.

@@latteliz1944 It definitely would have been a great book since Dennis lived to be (almost) 75--outliving Eddie, Melvin, Paul, and David by quite a wide margin later in life. And he was a Hall of Famer too.
Dennis was so fine ,his voice was so soulful.
Dennis Edwards a man with a real powerful voice he fitted in with the temptations extremely well he had a voice that you could not touch he can sing a love song like he owned it rip much love to Dennis

Dennis Edwards was a great replacement for the Temptations ,when David Ruffin was fired. Not only could Dennis sing with a group but he was also a great SoloArtist. ( Don’t Look Any Further) ( Cooling it Out) he could also dance. He was Tall dark and handsome too. He was a perfect fit for the Temptations.He inspired Aretha Franklin to write ( Daydreaming and I thinking of you). Dennis was a Bad Man.

You do a fantastic job with these videos. As a touring professional drummer all through the 70s l had the honor of backing up the Temps, 4tops and Archie bell and the drells at the 72 jazz festival in Cincinnati Dennis was a God given sweet heart God rest his soul

I think it was about 1968 when he sang Psychedelic Shack with the Temptations as their lead singer. It caught my attention that this was a different voice than DR. It took a while to conclude that Dennis was a very good singer as the replacement for DR. 😊
I'm with you. I think Otis was the problem
...I not a huge fan of Otis Williams but I will give him props for keeping The Temptations going for as long as they've been going. In a group when you have ppl with addiction issues it effects everyone. Just like a family member addicted. You have to make those tough decisions to fire/hire because y'all all not gonna eat because 1 is not there to fulfill your obligations. Otis had to pull rank @ some point in time. Imo..

I respect Dennis Edwards even though he gave the temptations their first Grammy but it was Ruffin who made the temptations. I like cloud nine. I sometimes find it funny David would crash every concert and steal the spotlight from Dennis
