That’s funny, Paul & Eddie having a fight, and then becoming the best of friends. I can dig it, Eddie, Paul, and Blue was my favorite. I Love Eddie, because he was so loyal. Paul I felt sorry for, he went from not drinking, to becoming a alcoholic, that means something was very wrong, I can relate to Paul. Now Blue was just so smooth and down to earth, and he was chocolate and fine!!! I can’t wait for part 2!!!
Paul had Sickle Cell Anemia and probably performed even while in excruciating pain and would often require oxygen after performances. Drinking was an attempt to ease the pains of Sickle Cell.
Before calling PAUL an alcoholic, research what HEwas going through with SICKLE CELL anemia. We are just finding that out of late. ETERNAL GRATITUDE BELOVED PAUL........and ALL of the CLASSIC FIVE🙏💚😇‼
Arguably, I’d say The Supremes were Motown’s most popular and successful act but respectively I know The Temptations were equally as popular and important. They certainly deserve recognition for inspiring so many male artists over the years and their timeless music.
Oh absolutely. When they were known as The Primes, it was Paul Williams who helped Diana Ross get into their burgeoning Sister Group The Primettes. Sadly Eldrige "Al" Bryant found out the hard way that not everyone is going to make it. So many guys were in the same boat as him. The Beach Boys, Beatles, Black Eyed Peas, Dixie Chicks, Go Go's, Miracles, New Kids On The Block, N'Sync, Spice Girls, Supremes, Temptations, TLC, Wilson Phillips can all attest to that fact.
The Temptations were the best group that ever came out of Motown, Berry Gordy saw that he could control the careers of the Supremes. Their were other girl groups and girls that could out sing the Supremes any day of the week and I won't name them all but Gladys Knight happens to be one of them and she and the Pips left just in time or maybe her career would have fizzled and she still can sing.

Gordy's affinity for Diane Ross clearly blindsighted him as it relates to the unfair way he was treating other groups on the label, in particular, any "female" artist/s on the label she saw as a rival. Gordy has been KNOWN to "sit down" other acts Ross felt were outshining her & her group. The Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight told "Sway In The Morning Show" about an incident at a concert when Motown & these acts were very young, where she & the Pips were bringing down the house, receiving overwhelming applause & adoration & when Gladys happen to peer over to one of the wings(side leading to backstage, where often camps of current performer or the next act, stand in the sidelines, to watch the show) & caught a glimpse of Ross standing there peering angrily at her. Later on after the show, one of the Motown staff told her the Gordy needed to speak with her urgently. When she got to the phone, she says, "Hey Mr. Gordy, are you hearing how well we're doing out here"? Gordy replies, "Yeah, but I hear you're giving my Star act a run for their money. She knew at that moment, this call was all as a result of her seeing Ross peering at them angrily in the wing of the stage. Gordy goes on to say, I'm bringing you guys off the road. Ross has stolen the dresses of fellow group & wore them out on stage so that the other girls would be forced to now be looked at as "copy cats", who were biting off of the image & style of the "Cool Kids". This infuriated the overwhelming majority of the other acts, MOST couldn't stand the nasty, evil & calculating Diane Ross, bcuz she weaponized her relationship w/Gordy against any1 who was a perceived competition & Gordy ate it all up & ended up making some decisions that didn't benefit those acts, despite how amazing they were & what they could've been had they had the same equal & fair treatment as The Supremes & Temps.

I love the temptations. I like all members. It was frankie lymon and the teenagers that opened doors for the temptations. The teenagers had a bass singer Sherman the real tall one. Sherman opened doors for Melvin Franklin and other singers too.
Fun Fact: Bob Marley was inspired by Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Berry Gordy wanted the Jackson 5 sound based on Frankie lymon & Teenagers, THE Teenagers STARTED THE WHOLE BOY BAND TREE

I feel silly admitting this but, even though I knew My Girl and It Was Just My Imagination were legendary songs and The Temps were a legendary group I had no idea they sang those songs until about 10 years ago when I watched The Temptations movie mini series. I love that movie, even though it's not totally accurate, but it opened up a whole new genre of music for me. Thank God for Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson and all associated with Motown. It blows my mind how some of the world's most iconic songs came out of a little house, in a regular neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. I WILL get there one day to see it in person.

OTIS WILLIAMS IS THE WORK HORSE THE LAST ORIGINAL SURVIVING MEMBER.
4:29 The group in this picture wasn’t Otis Williams and the Siberians- he called these guys “The El Domingos.” Al was the only one of the Siberians to be in both this group and then go onto form “The Distants” 7:50- It was actually Eddie that called Otis. It was just a casual “How you doing” call and Otis brought up that he needed singers during the convo.
I'd say that the Temptations were more akin to the Beatles in the way they led the changes in genres like psychedelic soul, funk and their progressive derivatives. Thank you for a well thought-out and produced video. I look forward to your next.

Richard Street wasn't with the Temptations then . He replaced Paul Williams in 1972.
