    I just want to ask, in city traffic, when you are stopped at red lights you put the e-cvt in N (neutral) or do you use the auto-hold button?
    Thanks!

    It should be nice different tests resetting before at: 80 - 90 - 100 - 110 - 120 - 130 - 140 km/h, only normal mode (no sport /power , no eco) to compare better with Jazz and Clio at high speeds ;)

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds better and has more character than the Jazz or Clio, thats where this stands out. A few MPG difference is no difference in reality. Its how you enjoy the feel of driving a particular car thats important when spending money on one. My car does about 28mpg round town but its superb to drive so the MPG, I dont care

    you're flooring it like a golf 7r driver 😂, it's a hybrid, you could get 2.5 l/100km, accelerate smooth and anticipate the braking so you ease off throttle so you won't have to brake.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct. Its a very efficient car, CVTs (in this case eCVT) are not designed to be floored all the time, they are best used by gradually picking up speed and letting the revs drop to match engine speed, then you can press on a bit further. Subaru CVT work fantastic this way.

      I also think, diesel hybrids make a lot more sense for reduced consumption instead of petrol hybrids! Diesel-hybrids represent progress, while also offering reduced consumption and efficiency. Why would i buy a petrol hybrid to pay more for fuel, instead of using a diesel car?

      200kg less and only 6 hp less total power, yes in town this can even beat a Prius but on motorways all Toyota hybrids tend to loose a bit mpg and it will depend how you drive, careful drive this little car will beat them all.

      Could you tell me how to drive a hybrid properly?
      My Toyota Yaris hybrid will be delivered in like a week and i'm really curious how to drive most fuel efficient...
      Also what mode should i use normal mode or ECO mode?
      ECO mode seemed the most obvious to me, but i heared/found out that you have some delay on when putting down the throttle wich will result in you having to put it down a lot more, making ECO mode actually less efficient. I'm pretty sure just normal mode will be the best, right? The way you drive it makes the biggest difference i suppose.
      And when (if at all) do you use EV (full electric) mode? I think you are only supposed to use it at very low speeds (below like 20km/h), in parking garage, food driveways and traffic jams, is this correct? I would love to get an answer.

    • @vitorvieira7617
      @vitorvieira7617 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jordyvanschaik6144 I have the previous gen Yaris Hybrid, but it should still apply. Here is what I usually do to save fuel:
      - Keep the gauge on the left part of ECO as much as you can (without disrupting traffic) - if your battery has enough energy, this will mean you'll be driving mostly off electric power in the city or spending very little fuel in the motorway
      - Carrying some speed before entering uphill sections helps a bit - the engine in these cars has low torque so it's less efficient in steep inclines
      - Brake gradually when coming to a stop - this means keeping a decent distance to the car ahead so you can do this safely.
      - Use the B gear as well on steep downhill slopes... but don't use it for "one pedal mode" It basically uses the engine as a brake and you'll be wearing it unnecessarily if you keep it always in B
      - Accelerate slowly out of lights, intersections, etc... whenever possible and in a way that doesn't disrupt the traffic flow
      - ECO mode doesn't change much but it makes your throttle input less sensitive and thus, less prone to engage the gasoline engine. It also should adjust your AC to spend less energy so I keep it on at all times.
      - Try not to get stuck in traffic in the first 1-2 minutes after you start your trip. The engine will be forcibly on for a while to reach the operating temp. If your car is moving during this time, you're not wasting fuel standing still!
      - EV mode is more like a party trick. It is useful if you don't wake anyone up when leaving your garage. At lower speeds, you can always "manually" enter EV mode by lifting the throttle. It will only go off EV mode if you get to higher speeds or if the gauge goes past the middle ECO mark (the engine turns on).
      I can get to 3.8L/100km (50kmh average speed) on national roads (90kmh max, 50kmh crossing some villages). On motorways I usually average about 4.6L/100km going 100/110 kmh. It's a relaxing car that saves a lot of fuel on relaxing trips :).
      Congrats on your Yaris and have fun!

    the lowest i got was 3.37l/100 km on my Auris Hybrid 2015 hatchback (summertime, w/o AC). around 18.000 km below the 3.8 stated by Toyota (and that at the pump, not BC). still for the 7 degrees C here, that consumption is really good.
    the main point is to keep the gas consumption as low as possible, and charge the battery there (@ 3-4 l/100km instant consumption). then discharge the battery at max 1/3 of the first eco section.

      Ive tested one of these twice, I really want to like this car but for the money I just cant seem to gel with it. On the motorway even at 60mph it seems a bit noisy. I dont mean the engine, I like three cylinders but for what it costs I would expect better aerodynamics, seemed a lot of wind noise plus road noise. Second hand Lexus CT200h is far quieter for the same money.
