Got 5 doors to fit on Monday so glad I found this today. You just got a new subscriber!
Roast Dinner tomorrow :)👌
Cheers buddy! Best of luck with your door fitting today!! 🍻👍
What a great video. Thank you for this!
Cheers buddy! 🍻👍
That carpet in the hallway brought back memories when me and wifey bought our house it was everywhere 😂 great video mate it's Sunday so roast dinner time 👌
Hi matey. Recently changed my method. Rather than measuring 1m up from the bottom of the door for the latch. Come a metre down from the top of the door. So many people including myself measure from the bottom. But floor levels change, the cut at the bottom of the door is likely different to the other door across the room. So as long as you got same head margins and linings are same height you can’t go wrong measuring from top of the door.
And I agree with you 2 hinges providing they are quality hinges I think suffice well enough never had issues
That’s a really good shout actually buddy ! I sometime use a laser level to line them all up but I like your method ! I’ll be using that going forward !
This is just the video I’ve been looking for. Excellent 👌 Thanks
Cheers Harvey! Appreciate the comment buddy 🍻👍
Roast Dinner (w/ Yorkshire pudds! mmmMM!) - Lovely video mate. Quick, clear tips. 👍
Cheers buddy! I appreciate your comment 🍻👍
Amazing demonstration 👌 specially the point of drilling the hing holes not in the center 👌👍🙏
Thank you very much ! 🍻
Roast Dinner - I wish I’d found this video before I hung 6 doors recently. Whilst i did them ok by following other videos, those videos were not as detailed as this so I had to figure out the scribing myself (with slight errors).
Great video - thank you.
Cheers buddy! I appreciate your comment and it’s always the way isn’t it! 🍻👍
Roast dinner. Got 13 doors to change at my recently purchased 1914 built house. Going to be loads of fun.😂
Thanks for the video.
New to the channel so will be watching all the videos.
Hi peter ! Really glad to have you on board mate ! And really glad I’ve managed to help you ! If you need anything and you can’t find it on the channel let me know
@LTWCarpentry what's the router bit you use for the hinges. Will be making the jigs for the hinges and locks this weekend.
Roast dinner , brilliant video, no music just full of good tips , glad ive all ready subscribed 👍
Cheers Wayne! Really appreciate your comment buddy! 👍🍻
Roast dinner. Excellent tutorial mate. Got to be honest I always hated hanging fully finished doors, never saw the point in them myself as you still have to finish the cu5 edges but also match the finish, but maybe I’m just tight 😂!!
Roast dinner! Tidy work as usual mate 👌🏻
Roast dinner…… nice fit !! Great explanation. I personally like to fit a pair and a half hinges to oak, especially when the old frame still has the cut out, but each to their own.
Cheers Paul, yes I agree mate, everyone has different ways. Thanks for the comment and the support buddy
Love these videos and always helpful. Will make life fitting doors at my son's house easier.
(Roast Dinner).😊
Cheers buddy! I really appreciate that, you have got this down 🍻👍
Brillant video just what i needed
Thanks for your comment buddy! 🍻👍
Great video mate. At last, one showing how to do the carboard adjustment on the hinges. Any tips on replcing hinges? I guess use slightly bigger screws? Or pack the holes with a few toothpicks?
Yes go slightly bigger with your screws and try and find so with the same thickness of leaf and the same amount of throw on the hinge
@@LTWCarpentry thanks yes, I think I have. They are the cheapo 75mm loose pin hinges and I've got a pair from Screwfix. The centre hole may be slightly off but otherwise they appear identical.
Thats brilliant thanks you for a very clear detailed explanation. I just subscribed and look forward to seeing the rest of your videos. One quick question if you don't mind, what's the average price to charge for hanging an interior door and hardware and the price to hang a door and build new door frame for it? and roughly how much time would it take a pro like you?
Best regards Chris
Cheers Chris, you would be looking anywhere between £65 and £110 mate, and a carpenter should be able to hang a door in about an hour
Roast dinner, nice little video, good detail. Was wondering if you could do a video fitting a bathroom sash lock sometime
Such a great video. Very clear and well put together. Thank you., Roast Dinner
Thank you very much Kevin ! Glad you enjoyed it
Great thorough vid. You've made me feel more confident about hanging doors and making a roast dinner. Thank you. 2 Questions:
1. all the other vids I watched recommended using a self-centering drill bit for drilling hinge holes. I'm interested in your thoughts about these vs. your method of drilling off-center towards butted side of hinge.
2. I am working with a pre-made custom door with the hinges already attached from previous placements. They are different than the current hinge placements. So I need to router out places for the new hinges. Any tricks for getting the depth set on the router to make the door centered left to right? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
Hi Sam, thanks for your patience buddy,
Right number 1 - nothing wrong with using the self centering ones I just prefer off setting as it pulls the hinge in tighter.
2 - I’ve done a video about fitting hinges that will explain how to set your hinges I would recommend having a watch on this one
I hope this helps and thanks for your comment and questions 👍🍻
@@LTWCarpentry thanks!
Brilliant, Thanks!
Appreciate your comments buddy! 👍🍻
Great video mate, can I ask when you are using the router for the lock and hinges do you go right to the edges or keep back a couple of millimeters and get the rest with chizzel?
Cheers mate, I always leave a little bit to fit up with the chisel 🍻
Roast dinner - brilliant tutorial, some very useful tips. Thanks.
Thanks Martin! Much appreciated 👍🍻
Roast dinner. Great video Lewis you make everything look so easy
lol, cheers Jim. I have practiced atleast a thousand times mate 🍻
Roast Dinner… 🚪 top job! 👍🏾
Great vid, how did you do the concave cut on the latch side of the door??
I used the track saw to do it mate 🍻👍
How much of a gap do you leave at the bottom when fitted a new door lining when there is no flooring layed yet. Just the sub floor
If being carpeted I normally leave 18/20mm this may change depending on the quality of carpet going down. If it’s a laminate or tiled floor ect I will allow the thickness of flooring plus any underlay ect plus 5mm
U must do a double door exterior with with projection hinges please
EXELENTE canal lo recomendaré
Thank you buddy I really appreciate your comment! 👍🍻
Roast Dinner , absolute champ thanks
Cheers buddy! Appreciate your comment 👍🍻
Great tutorial, only one thing, I hate the latch, it should be a 3” so the handle is in the centre of stile 😊
Fair comment Aidan I appreciate 😊👍🍻
Roast dinner! Great video, very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you very much Cole 🍻
Roast dinner, really good explanation. Could have done with this a few months ago 😂😂
It was partly down to you saying you couldn’t find a door hanging video on my channel that made realise I needed to do one 😂😂
Nice job
How much u charge for door fixing
Thanks for your comment Amjad! Usually between £70-85 but depends on the job, location etc 👍🍻
Roast dinner another great no nonsense tutorial mate 👍
Roast dinner. Good video mate 👍
If the door you’re removing fits perfectly, could you just use it as a template on the new door to save time?
In theory yes you could but it’s very rare that the old doors fit perfectly unfortunately. You can use them as a rough guide though but I find that take just as long as scribing the door in
Roast dinner - good vid. Planning to do 8 doors in my house.
Cheers for your comment Malcolm! And good luck for the doors 🤘🍻
Roast dinner what size drill bit for drilling the latching into the size of the door please ?
Cheers Simon, I used a 25mm bit mate
Roast dinner. Neat work. 👏🏼
Help I’ve got a door to hang but not Shute how to cause the floor isn’t level wat out of line 😢
Roast dinner. Excellent demo. Thanks
Cheers Nicola! Thanks for your comment 👍🍻
Roast dinner Great video, it's probably my adhd,but... would it have been a better idea to have flipped the door hinge to the otherside so it opens on to the wall?
It seems like wasted space as it opens in to the room rather than flat to the wall.
Other than that thanks for the tips and advice.
The reason for having the door open this way is because they are “privacy doors” it’s so you can see straight into the room as you open the door incase some one is getting changed ect….
Love it. Almost as good as a roast dinner! Lamb or Pork, though?
Lamb all the way although I like pork aswel
As a fellow chippy love your channel could you also talk about prices? Roadspinner
Cheers Jim ! It’s always nice to know other Chippie’s watch the channel mate. Yes I plan to do so actually, I have had a few requests for it 🍻
Roast dinner. Cheeers mate got 3 oak laminate doors to hang. Was fairly confident but youve given me the that extra little bit i was lacking
That’s brilliant Chris ! So glad my videos help buddy ! Thanks for the support
another great video Roast Dinner
How much would a joiner charge to fit an internal door
Between £60 and £100 buddy
@@LTWCarpentry blimey. Thanks for the video. 👍
Roast dinner 😂 great video fella, which model festool extractor you using?
Cheers buddy ! Much appreciated ! It’s the festool ct15e mate, the cheapest one they do
Roast dinner great vid keep them coming
Roast dinner . Quality work 👍
roast dinner, sprinkled with magic mushrooms, but only when you have a hallway carpet like that.
thanks for the tutorial.
lol, the hallway carpet isn’t a permanent fixture let me assure you 😂
Roast dinner.great video, mate. Just got level 3 qualification last week on my 21st birthday, actually. Im still watching your videos because I believe a good carpenter never knows too much and ive still got plenty to learn.
Thanks Leo! Happy belated birthday buddy, I watch a lot of other carpentry videos too, there is always more to learn 👍🍻
Excellent tutorial Lewis, roast dinner👊
Cheers hoggy 🐗🍻
Can an oscillating multitool be used instead of a router to cut out the area for the hinge?
Hiya buddy, i wouldnt recommend it I'm afraid otherwise it wouldn't leave a decent finish 👍🍻
@@LTWCarpentry lol …. You’re thinking like a pro. I just want to get a door up. I know it won’t be as nice looking but I have the tool. We’ll see, thanks for the response.
Roast Dinner.....Sunday is a day of roast.....Great video. I'd rather be a router, than a chisel....yes I would....
Cheers John 🍻
Roast dinner bro! This was nice
Thanks buddy! Really appreciate that 🍻👍
I always thought the third hinge was to stop the door bowing. Not to take any weight. Of course 2 hinges will hold a door, but they won’t stop the middle from warping.
It can work as both but bowing on these engineered doors isn’t generally an issue
Another great video, Roast Dinner,
Cheers Chris, much appreciated 🍻
Mike skinner is a joiner?
😂
Nice job Roast Dinner 😊
Cheers Jim ! Much appreciated 🍻
Roast dinner. Great video!!
Cheers Kane 🍻
Roast dinner 👏🏾👏🏾
roast dinner, excellent job mate
Cheers mate
Roast dinner - nicely carried out
Thanks Colin much appreciated 🍻👍
Roast dinner, love em, video good as well
Cheers Vincent much appreciated 👍🍻
Where are you based because I need 2 doors to be fitted?
In Essex mate
Roast dinner. Love the video and tips, nice to see one that explains as they go along instead of a rushed video with not much information. I’m about to hang my first door and have 6 to do 😬 wish me luck 😅
Hi Sue, thanks for your comment its much appreciated, how have you got on? I wish you the best of luck 👍
Roast dinner - another great video
Cheers buddy 🍻👍
Roast Dinner! 😊
Appreciate both of your comments pal! 🍻👍
Roast dinner, very informative .
Cheers James! I appreciate the comment buddy 👍🍻
U to good
Cheers buddy thank you!! 👍🍻
Roast dinner 😂
Idea for what I could do with is how to rehang a door but to open the other way.
No problem
Irish roast dinner😂😂
Never had one mate 😂😂
Roast Dinner, Why wasn't the door placed on the opposite side, against the wall?
Hi buddy, thanks for your comment, it’s because the light switch would have been on the wrong side and also these are privacy doors so that when you open the door you can’t see directly into the room 🍻👍
Roast dinner really good video
Cheers Stuart ! Much appreciated mate ! 🍻
Roast dinner. Nice router work
Cheers buddy, can’t beat free hand routing can you 🍻
I'll have a roast dinner if your offering one !! lol
Anything for you Ian 🍻
Nice roast dinner. Thanks.
Cheers Maggie! Much appreciated 👍🍻
Roast Dinner !!!
Cheers buddy 🍻
Roast dinner 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice one Stuart 🍻
Roast dinner. Just need to get myself a circular saw, electric planer and router. Or take a risk with old school hand tools 🤓

Roast lamb is my favorite but you can’t beat a bit of cow can you Anthony 🍻
🥩
What’s your advice if the architrave is too close to the frame and your butt of your hinges catches it? Roast dinner
You can notch the arcs around the hinge buddy, just do a little relief, or replace the arcs altogether 🍻
Roast dinner 😅
Cheers Kevin 🍻
Roast dinner 😊
Cheers buddy 🍻
Roast dinner 👍
Cheers Callum! Appreciate it buddy 🍻👍
I’d love a roast dinner rn
