I can’t believe you restored this piece so beautifully and bought it back to life. I’m envious of your scraper. I’m getting one for myself. I’ve seen so many furniture pieces that I don’t know what kind of paint the owners had used, but you gave me hope that it can be done! Thank you for the inspiration
What an incredible restoration! Made doubly so by the fact that you used almost no power tools, that’s so impressive. You must have the patience of a saint coz I’d have lost my mind. ❤
That looks gorgeous. 😍 I love the stain color 'Candlelight'. One suggestion though. Remove the metal caps on the bottoms of the legs and replace with acrylic ones. Those metal caps are murder on flooring. Every piece of vintage or antique furniture in my home has acrylic caps or felt pads. My hardwoods are grateful. 😊
I don't think there was ANY paint left on that piece. I love a sharp exacto knife too and your attention to the detail, like the underside that many flippers don't bother with. It is indeed beautiful and unique, thanks for sharing.
Wow some lovely wood underneath all those layers of paint. Thank you for having the huge amount of patience (and strength 🤣) to bring it back. It looks gorgeous 😍 and you even did the back 👍 Just subscribed 😃
Thanks for your comment 😅😅 I really liked this one!! And thanks for subscribing 🥳 I’m working on another piece right now and will hopefully have the video up in a week or so 😊
Great job! I just did this with some old book shelves that were my husbands. I try to think when I am planning on painting a piece "Am I gonna want to strip this some day?"
Beautiful restoration, but my goodness what a job you had of stripping that paint. Scraping was definitely the way to go with no gooey mess or having to wear industrial strength gloves. Have you tried QCS Stripper yet? It's a fantastic non-toxic product, and you don't have to wear gloves. Just spray on, wait 15 minutes or longer if you like, and it comes right off. I just subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see what other beautiful restorations you do!
I don’t think the previous owner painted that piece of furniture with a brush. It looks as though it was dunked into a giant vat of paint. Your meticulous removal of the paint was impressive.
Great question. The owner said she had painted it a year previous to me picking it up so I didn’t test for it! I may next time though just as an extra precaution
That’s a first! Some halfwit painted the drawer shut!😂 What possesses a person to paint a beautiful piece of wood? I just don’t understand?! I guess Flip Wilson would say “the devil made me do it!”
I know it exactly what you’re talking about, almost like a shrieking noise. Have you tried changing the angle you scrape at? I try to keep the scraper fairly level, pulling backwards instead of back and upwards. It seems to make a high pitched sound only if I scrape at a certain angle
Furniture scraping is my new FAVORITE!!!
Yesss!!!!!!
I've got to say, seeing those layers of paint scrape away was super satisfying.
It was a nice surprise to see the veneer underneath was in good condition too 😅
Lovely work! Thank you for not including music or narration it is much more relaxing!
Thank you so much!!
Lovely grain! I’m a fan now! Red Devil scrapers are so useful!
Yes they are! Thank youuu ☺️☺️
Man you weren’t kidding. That paint was bananas!
Agreed 😅😅
Beautiful restoration. The oven cleaner was a great tip for removing paint flecks. Thank you 💘
Glad it was helpful!
My arms ache just watching all the scraping and sanding you had to do! Nicely done 👍🏼

Thank you so much Ruth! There were many layers of paint to it but I was relieved that my scraper could help get the job done 😅

Thank you! That’s a great idea 😊
It's amazing what was hidden behind all the layers of paint. Great work!
Thank you very much!
You did an amazing job there and showed how beautiful natural wood is.

Thank you!! I agree it was a lot 😅 I haven’t heard of QCS but it sounds incredible. I will check it out thanks, maybe save my wrists too 🙃
Looks beautiful! What do you.use to neutralize the oven cleaner so it doesn't continue eating away at the wood?
I used mineral spirits ☺️
That was an epic task
Thank you 😅
You did fantastic! I know your hands are killing you!
Thanks 😅😅
I watch a lot of furniture shows. Just found you. Subscribed. Love that you are in Ontario. Where about are you? I live in Belmont near London.
That’s amazing!! Thanks for subscribing ☺️☺️ I’m in ottawa!! Love London area though, just a short drive away
@@Mossgroverestorations I’m happy to find another furniture restorer you tuber. I have already watched everything of the others.
@@renabee8246 that’s great to hear. If you have any special requests for content feel free to let me know! I’m open to anything!

Beautiful 😊
Thank you so much!
Just out of curiosity, did you test that paint for lead?
Great question. The owner said she had painted it a year previous to me picking it up so I didn’t test for it! I may next time though just as an extra precaution
Gorgeous
Thank you so much!!
That’s a first! Some halfwit painted the drawer shut!😂 What possesses a person to paint a beautiful piece of wood? I just don’t understand?! I guess Flip Wilson would say “the devil made me do it!”
Wow. It’s a beautiful piece. Too bad they had painted everything. That was a lot of work. But well done.
Thank you very much! So satisfying to see the grain after 😊
Your knuckles? Who did you knock out?
I have a scraper and tried using it but I just can't take the scratching a chalkboard sound it makes. Am I doing something wrong?

I'll give that a try. Thank you. ❤️
😍
Awesome Job Done ! without all that talking > more concentration on the work > but do go back and buff all that wax off...
Thanks so much 😊 oh yes!!
So much paint 😢
Looks like you scraper 40 pounds of paint 🤣
That’s what it felt like 😂 I swear I could lift it easier after whew 😅
@@Mossgroverestorations It turned out to be a great job😀
Looks kinda 90s. Might have been more attractive w half painted. Just saying.
Thank you for the feedback 😊
