Hi @quicksand flooring. I started watching your videos a month ago, opened a business and i have my first client now and I did my first project so good that even the person who hired my company was amazed🙏🏾❤️💯 all thanks to your videos😂❤. I mostly sand as you advised in one of the other videos, to sand diagonally across the floor. Zola all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦 Maybe I'll open a channel myself.
I could maybe see painting 1 solid color if floors needed to be refinished, but money wouldn't allow it. But, that 'pattern' looked terrible. Busy, and dirty. Thank goodness it could be saved.
@@christinec8818But... I could also see how somebody first decided on bright and modern off-white. Only to then discover, after the painting having been done, that on a very light even color _you get to see every scuff and mark from dark rubber shoe soles._
Thank God you found great wood! There are times that I look at something for a while trying to understand, but end of shaking my head and muttering “some people’s kids!” under my breath….. this is one of those times.
I can understand what the owners were trying to do. Just look at the room where those floors are. The wall has a crazy pattern to it as well. They wanted to make a statement n they did. It fit them
I still see the paint in the cracks between the boards. Is it even possible to get the paint out from between the boards? It looks tons better but that small detail irks me.
I have dumb question - if the floor is done like that, it means that wood is completely sealed? I ask as servant of 5 cats...I love wood but I have everywhere tiles or linoleum (PVC I think) because of cleaning bodily fluids in every kind, consistence and placing...
Beautiful job! As a painting contractor, D.I.Y. homeowner and restorer, your sanders are slightly better than the ones I rent.. By about 1000%. Isn't it satisfying to actually see the work you do vs. pushing paper or clicking a computer screen?
When you plan to use all of the 5 litre loquid from big bottle do a small hole at the handle so the air can escape. It will be easier to pour and quicker too😊
My husband & I did a space that was 4x that size and hallways. We bought a floor nail set tool that we used a hammer with that put the nails in at an angle from the tongue side. The only place we had surface nails was the edge boards.
Holy hell. That is such a beautiful floor. I have no idea why they would want to paint it. I saw people painting floors white because a) they liked the colour b) the original floors were damaged, so the white kind fit. This, however? Wow.
That looked awful, the worst thing I've seen anyone do to beautiful timber, you did an amazing job restoring that, well done. Best wishes Christine (UK) x
Watching that horrible paint come up with the sander was so satisfying. Didn't really like the texture that the paint roller gave the finish. I like the smooth look that one of those lambs wool pad gives.
The before look reminds me of what someone did to their floors and walls to hide the fact that they never cleaned. They didn't even own a broom. I first thought that the black paint was tire tracks from a mountain bike.
Hopefully there's some kind of law in your part of the world to jail a person for committing such a heinous crime against a floor like this. Some people just aren't safe to allow out in society. Lol... Why, god? WHY??!
Lol, if the owners wanted the initial look but in natural form they should've gone with guayubira wood instead of whatever the hell they tried to do there.
Or just get a graining tool and do it decently if there's a tight budget, an area rug would cost less than all that product. Looks like a pinterest faux finish gone horribly pear shaped.
It gets fastened to a belt that you wear around your waist - gives you more control over the machine and you can use more of your body weight and pulling the machine backward 👍🏻
Now that's what a hardwood floor is supposed to look like.! Why people paint hardwood floors is beyond me.? It makes the house look like a Crack house.!!! Thay have no idea the damage thay are doing.! Plus the resale value to the home.!!
The original look was horrible, but what lies underneath is nothing special. "Tasmanian Oak" is not oak at all but rather a mishmash of three different Eucalypt species, and not high grade timber.
Gives meaning to the phrase “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” lol. Whew! Glad you were there to return the floor to the natural wood.
Painting that stunning wood is criminal. Great job uncovering the beauty
That 'before' situation was horrifying. End result looks amazing - wish you were in Brisbane!
That paint-job on the floor was GHASTLY. Nice work bringing back its beauty!

That’s awesome Zola, we’re so glad our videos have been able to help you out 🙌🏻
This drawing on the floor reminded me of the video where a robot vacuum cleaner smeared a pile of shit that a dog had dumped on the floor.
It would drive me crazy to see the paint in between the boards! Is there no tool to make that possible to remove???
Wow, just Wow. And yes, what where they thinking LOL.
I thought it was some exotic hardwood with really wild high-contrast grain.
😂
Why on earth did they paint them to begin with?
Modern art project?
Hipsterness. Someone loved the "shabby chic" aesthetic.

It could be scraped out with dental tools but I’m sure it’s time consuming.
That would bug me, too. Yes, it would be time consuming, but it's not done right without removing that as much as possible imo.
That's amazing! What a beautiful transformation!
Such beautiful floors in the end.
Excellent job.
WOW what a difference 👍
I have dumb question - if the floor is done like that, it means that wood is completely sealed? I ask as servant of 5 cats...I love wood but I have everywhere tiles or linoleum (PVC I think) because of cleaning bodily fluids in every kind, consistence and placing...

I hope some one went to jail for that floor disaster! Great job fixing it!
A job well done. Will be calling you guys for my floors in the future 👍👏👏
Painting hard wood, stone or brick should be a capital crime.
Amazing!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
When you plan to use all of the 5 litre loquid from big bottle do a small hole at the handle so the air can escape. It will be easier to pour and quicker too😊
Also works well to turn that kind of jug so the opening is at the top position while pouring, that way air always has a way in.
It is a shame you did not remove the white paint between the planks.....🙋🏼♀️
Why wasn’t the paint in between the planks stripped? Was this is customer choice?
I wondered that too. I would hate seeing all that paint in the cracks after it was redone.
I can't believe someone looked at that and said "looks great, seal it in!"
So much better!
My husband & I did a space that was 4x that size and hallways. We bought a floor nail set tool that we used a hammer with that put the nails in at an angle from the tongue side. The only place we had surface nails was the edge boards.
You can remove the paint but the crazy still lives there.
My heart dropped...why would you do this.
It looks mint now.
the zebra floor was a CRIME
Do you do a test strip first? How do you know what's underneath?
Stunning
I'm not keen on the white paint in the joints, but it's not my house... 😉 Looks great otherwise !
Great job restoring that floor! Don’t do drugs people lol
35 years of sanding and finishing installing floors I’ve never seen anybody in America use a roller to apply finishes.
Most of us use rollers here in Australia, and the French varnish manufacturer actually make the matching roller to use with the product 👌🏻
Amazing 🎉🎉🎉

The crime committed against that floor with that nightmare paint deserve a harsh jail time to the guy who did that.
I agree!
Crack is whack!
That looked awful, the worst thing I've seen anyone do to beautiful timber, you did an amazing job restoring that, well done. Best wishes Christine (UK) x
Wow! It is like you performed an exorcism from demonic artsy not possession. Thank you for this restoration. Are these products water or oil based?
Cheers! These are water based polyurethanes 👍🏻
One question, how much do you charge per square metre/ sqft?
Some white paint still in the cracks. Should've picked it up
Watching that horrible paint come up with the sander was so satisfying. Didn't really like the texture that the paint roller gave the finish. I like the smooth look that one of those lambs wool pad gives.
How many days did this take?
The before look reminds me of what someone did to their floors and walls to hide the fact that they never cleaned. They didn't even own a broom.
I first thought that the black paint was tire tracks from a mountain bike.
What possesses someone to paint a wooden floor like that in the first place.....weird....fantastic restoration job.
Remember this floor how it used to be. Don't take drugs, kiddos.
Wow😳👏👏👏👏❤️
lol, at first I thought all that was belt sander burns, lol.
What kind of wood is it?
Tasmanian Oak
Whoever painted that needs to be punished.
Hopefully there's some kind of law in your part of the world to jail a person for committing such a heinous crime against a floor like this. Some people just aren't safe to allow out in society. Lol... Why, god? WHY??!
I liked the painted floor better. Very unique❤

Maybe this was already answered but why do you need to fasten this machine to your shorts
It gets fastened to a belt that you wear around your waist - gives you more control over the machine and you can use more of your body weight and pulling the machine backward 👍🏻
"Before" likes like really bad flipper's vinyl.
Now that's what a hardwood floor is supposed to look like.!
Why people paint hardwood floors is beyond me.? It makes the house look like a Crack house.!!! Thay have no idea the damage thay are doing.! Plus the resale value to the home.!!
wow it tanked a youth.
I was wondering, was it overmedicated or undermedicated mental illness that made them do this to the floor?😂
Not even a kid would paint that beautiful wood that ugly. Why tf they painted it like that
Floor looks much better. Why would you paint hard wood floors
The original look was horrible, but what lies underneath is nothing special. "Tasmanian Oak" is not oak at all but rather a mishmash of three different Eucalypt species, and not high grade timber.
