This will do the job pretty well for most everyone. However, if you have a high-end parka, and you are going back into extreme conditions, I would add a few preliminary steps to what is presented in the video: 1) stitch it up, 2) apply a small bead of super glue over the stitches, and then 3) apply the patch exactly as shown in this video. These three steps will have you ready for anything. Again, great video for almost all applications.
Thank you so much. I fell while riding my bicycle the other day and the only injury sustained was found on my Patagonia feathered jacket. I will use this tip to "stop the bleeding" as you say :P
Didn’t have the tape but used clear scotch tape on a minor hole. Snuck it through and taped from the inside. I was able to get a pretty seamless repair. Thanks!
Two Great Tips: 1) use tweezers to place the tape inside the cut and 2) tap down one side of the tear to secure the patch before closing up the entire hole. Thanks!
My Mountain Hardware ghost whisperer was in my truck when I rolled it several times it has about 50 holes an rips from glass. It's no longer good for any type of fashion statement unless looking like an unjured bird becomes a thing. Im going to try and use it backpacking since it's still a very lightweight puffy.
Dang it. 2 days too late. I found a child’s Patagonia down jacket the other day but it had a rip. Glad I know for the future though! Thanks for the video!
You are very welcome! Patagonia will do repairs for free also if you live by one of their stores or want to mail it to them. Thanks for watching, next time 👍👍
thecollegepicker oh that’s awesome! I didn’t realize that. I live in a pretty small town so the jacket is likely still at the thrift store. Have you ever come across a jacket with duct tape on it for a patch? I have one that I’m not sure how to get it off in order to try and repair. I didn’t make the duct tape repair lol.
For that I would just remove the duct tape and then use alcohol to remove the adhesive that remains. Then use the tenacious tape. 👍 Lemme know how it goes
Sweet! That looks so much easier than what I was thinking I had to do with a needle and thread, which I know nothing about. My down coat snagged on something sharp in a bathroom stall at college, and I ride my e-bike there and back in the winter in 42 F degree temperatures.
Zipper pull missing on several coats I have in death pile. Looks like you’d have to unstitch to pull off and replace, then sew back up unless there’s something I’m missing.
Thank you so much! This doggy down the beach ( massive) always say hello to me! Such a lovely dog but the problem is he’s pretty big! So he ripped one of my expensive jackets! Oh well.... he’s Cute though lol! your info is just what I needed to fix the problem. Thank you!!
For the North Face, after you patch from inside, you could order a patch of the first letter of your name to cover it, because it is at just perfect place of your arm.
Love tenacious tape! I have rolls everywhere 😂... in the camping box, on the sailboat, in my sewing box, the junk drawer, 🤔 I think there might be one in my center console too 🤣😂🤣 P.S. is that you listening to show jazz in the background or is a neighbor playing the sax?
How to remove this?? 😂 I put it from the inside like you put on the second jacket and it didn't went that well haha.. I don't know how to get it off now and I'm afraid to damage the jacket more than it already is
Or you could just use Sellotape. I have done this on a couple of small holes in my down jackets and gilets with no problems, repair is still holding good and it's far cheaper than Tenacious tape.
NOOOO! This tape cracks and looks terrible after washing. And looks worse than duct tape. It also gets stiff and VERY scratchy, so if it's anywhere where it will rub on your skin it will irritate. Awful.
Crazy that we can put a man into space, go into the abyss in our oceans, perform life saying brain and heart surgery, but put a tear in your jacket the only thing you can do is patch it or stitch it up leaving some form of evidence it has happened 🤣🤣 bizarre
thank you, very helpful, my puppies torn a couple of my prized down jackets. I will repair them and use as hiking /dog walking jackets.
Awesome use of them! you are very welcome, have fun with the repair

Love the everest addition 😍🙏 appreciate you.
Who else's cat decided their extremely expensive jacket was now a cat-tree?
No cat but these jackets are not durable at all warm yes but not tough, now i have feathers everywhere
My cat just did that today hence I'm here looking up. It's small like an inch scratched cut
@@juliapiccollo6921 i went with the goretex pactches from amazon about $10 for 4 but definitely worth it
omg i literally am so mad because my cat decided to ruin my only good puffer jacket

Inside patch, thanks for that! Used to be able to think better like that lol. 😂

Thankyou - son has made a mess of his jacket in an argument with a bramble at school - tenacious tape on order!
Just ordered!!!! Thanks so much I received a damaged jacket today for my kid and need it for a trip to Chicago
Two Great Tips: 1) use tweezers to place the tape inside the cut and 2) tap down one side of the tear to secure the patch before closing up the entire hole. Thanks!
You are welcome 🤝 patch on!
This should have been an affiliated link. I just purchased because of this video.
Thanks college picker!
You are very welcome, there is a link in the description that is affiliated :-)
Sew them then super glue a patch of your choice over the area. Problem gone for good.
Thanks! I got the same tnf puffer with 4cm hole on sleeve, ordered this tape right now, so wish me good luck
Crazy timing. I was just watching vids on this subject b4 I went to sleep and woke up to this upload
Dude get out! That's insanneeee. You have 15 damaged NWT Arc'teryx eh? 🤣🤣
@@thecollegepicker 😆😆 No joke. I got a Patagonia Micro Puff Vest with a tiny tear.. 401K
The second method is awesome… I am gonna try it… thanks a lot
You are welcome.
Will the tape come off in the wash ??
Can you wash and dry the jacket as normal?
Yeah
will this product with stand -40 C weather ?

Is there a way to fix it without seeing any of the patch up work?
Thank you for your video it saves my favourite jacket
You are welcome

Brilliant 👍 very helpful bro. Thanks!

I have a lot of damaged North Face new with tags that I have been avoiding repairing but I’m ready now
💪 heck yeah.
My crazy blue heeler puppy has the sharpest nails and it jumped and ripped my moncler jacket😭thank u for this❤️
This was so informative. I would do this with my own item, but never for resale.
Thanks, glad you are going to repair your gear 👍. These jackets sold for a collective $269ish
Very good CP. Thanks
You are very welcome, Thanks for watching. Bought both of these from the thrift 🤣forgot to mention that =)
thanks sm, very helpful🥰
You’re welcome 😊
Can I use a washer and a dryer on my jacket after I have patched it?
Yep. That tape will never come off!
Yeah no issue.
You helped me a lot!! Thanks
You are welcome 🤗
Very practical. 🙏
🙏🙏
just what I needed--thanks for the demo cp
You are very welcome Scott 👍 thanks for watching 😊
Great information as always. Thank you
Thanks Ronda! Appreciate it 👍
Can you put it in from the inside?
Might as well use any tape for an emergency 😉 for a more permanent fix I would sew patch on
That would work yeah
Issue with stitching is that most down jackets are water resistant to a degree, stitched areas create holes for water ingress.
From where I get this tape?
Good morning grandma's...🤣😀😄 Hey, hey I 'm a young grandma! L. M. A. O.
🤷♂️❤️😂
good job man
Appreciate it 🙏

Super useful ! Many thanks.
Thanks for the great info. I’m going to try it.
You are very welcome dude. And younger soooo much tape. I have like 40 more repairs worth 🤣🤣🦆
Is it repair for lifetime?
This has been very helpful! Thanks!

Thank you so much for this. I've googled this before and never found anything this user friendly. Any easy hacks for zipper pulls?
You are very welcome Robyn. What problem with the zipper pulls?
Zipper pull missing on several coats I have in death pile. Looks like you’d have to unstitch to pull off and replace, then sew back up unless there’s something I’m missing.
Great tip on cutting out a round patch instead of a square, thanks for the excellent content as always! #badgeofhonor
Thanks 😊 appreciate the support! Yeah don't want that thing snagging.
Thanks!!
I also make that is specifically for puffy / down jackets, You can get them in specific colors
Great video..
Thanks Miguel 👍 appreciate it
🎖Badge of honor🎖😂😂👍🏻
Wear it proudly.

I'm actually using this for the lining of a cape I made and accidentally cut
Thank you!

I think you should have done both from the inside out man, good job though.
Thanx! You rock!

thank you so much

I held a cat today and she poked a hole into my jacket :( luckily it's small enough that its not noticeable, but I don't want it to grow

It's great stuff! Hahahaha I wish my neighbors were able to play the sax 🤣 they are really good at playing the yippy dogs.
Will we hit 600k views on this jacket video?? #jacketviews #diy
401K quality 🤣👍 prob 10 years 600k

Just ripped my moncler 🤦🏻♂️
I have a 1996 north face I hope this not happens to me , very expensive jacket
How to remove this?? 😂 I put it from the inside like you put on the second jacket and it didn't went that well haha.. I don't know how to get it off now and I'm afraid to damage the jacket more than it already is
I’d leave it on the inside and just add a patch to the outside to prevent more feather loss?
I agree 👍
La gorra tambien está toyota 😅

More than one way to win 💪
Sellotape is more than tenacious tape currently on Amazon.
I got my puffer a few days ago and I ripped it 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Oh no!!!
I think I would rather just stitch it by hand thanks anyway!🌸
You could try that as well =)
Good morning Grandma's?
No no .... ya no es igual se ve feo con el parche👎👎👎👎
Lo siento 🙏
Have a vintage green Gerry down jacket I need to repair now.
My cats fr found a way in my closet and decided that my puffer was their new toy😐
No way Joseeeee

Thank you man you save my jacket an my asshole
Happy to save all of those things 👍
these people always have such even rips
It was quite a good rip
Might as well use duct tape if it’s for function
Could try that as well 👍
My dog ripped my jacket
Bad dog 🐶
Get down!
I'm down 🦆

yeah, if you run, no one can see that is fucked up
Crazy that we can put a man into space, go into the abyss in our oceans, perform life saying brain and heart surgery, but put a tear in your jacket the only thing you can do is patch it or stitch it up leaving some form of evidence it has happened 🤣🤣 bizarre
Dude you were supposed to stick that patch from the inside. Even a 2 year old can do what you did. 😡
Be careful giving a 2 year old scissors 😵💫
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
bad idea
Bro this looks so ugly, i would put the patch inside at least
Utility fashion.
They look sucks tho but thanks
