(147) Route 109 Diversions via Nicholson St & Bourke St, City, 3rd February 2022.

From Wednesday 2nd February to Sunday 6th February a new Tram Superstop was built along Route 58, near the intersection of Collins St and William St. To facilitate this construction Route 109 trams were diverted and ran between St Vincent's Plaza and Batman Park via Nicholson Street and Bourke Street, instead of their usual route along Collins St. The rarely used points which give access to Nicholson St from Victoria St were suddenly very busy and even rarer was the sight of A and, in particular, C1 class trams traversing the length of Bourke St. This video shows A, C1, C2 and E1 & E2 class trams running Routes 86, 96 and 109 services at various locations between St Vincent's Plaza and Southern Cross Station on Thursday 3rd February 2022. This video concludes with footage of trams using the short length of track in Victoria St which connects Swanston St to Elizabeth St. This track sees only departmental use, having no public services running over it.
