Hello Ms Pagan. Always a treat to see you on here, you are SO positive and uplifting! May I suggest that as far as your friend who makes home brew Mead...please ask that person to try to get a hold of meads and cider/mead blends from BNektar from Ferndale, Michigan. Not only do they have amazing meads, but their branding/label art for each type is unmatched. From high ABV still meads, to bottled meads, to hard cider/mead blends in cans, they are award winning for a reason. Look them up online! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed

Founders brewery was created in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Their story is really interesting about all they went thru during their early years. They now brew a decent amount of all sorts of beers, including IPAs, Lagers, Stouts, and even a Hard Seltzer. Michigan is home to many amazing craft beer companies, and craft mead, craft wine, craft vodka, craft whiskey, craft tequila...

I was a mild almost sweet tasting stout with hints of chocolate and liquorice . Quite thick. Basically a Guinness shake…

While I can appreciate why people love it, it’s a bit too much for me. And I don’t usually care for Founders myself (Michigan has breweries I prefer much more) but if you can get your hands on Founders Rubaeus I’d recommend it. "I'm tasting burnt toast" - That's a well roasted malt flavor there. And a often used flavor description.

Clisare Sings “It is a stout”
Me: “I’m sorry; what?? OK PIPES!! You BETTER F****in SANG!”
That was beautiful. Amazing tone. Lovely vibrato. Well done, Clisare!

I'm huge Sierra Nevada beer fan even though it's on the opposite side of the USA from me. We rarely get Dankful in my tiny corner of New England so be grateful for the glass and all things.

I brew my own... Wish I could send you a few of those to try, and get your opinions! KBS is from Founder's in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I used to live near there, and it was a frequent stop. KBS stands for Kentucky Breakfast Stout.

First off, good on ya!! I LOVE that you guys featured KBS. I don't think you know the cult following that that beer has. It's an incredible beer, and worth every 100 or 99-rating it has. The Kona is boring trash owned by AB-Inbev. The Dankful Sierra Nevada was a necessary IPA. Hipster approved. The Barley wine made me laugh. Those are big, big beers. Serving temp and glassware also matter. Try a Belgian Quad, but at about 12-13°C, and tell me what you think. It'll change your mind about what beer is or can be. Cheers!!!

Although I agree that Kona is boring, (Maui brewing is better) it's owned by P V Brewing Partners. Not AB-Inbev. Either way, it doesn't make their beer any better.

Here at Holland Michigan, close to Founders KBS but grew up in Kalamazoo with Bells beer as my preference. We also have Wyoming Michigan very close to Founders. Does Dermot think Wyoming is in Germany?

Speaking as an American who has tried a few of these, I probably most agree with Clisare. We don't hold a very tiny candle to the stuff they brew in Ireland. When I find one I like I keep going back to it. LIke "Golden Chaos" from Bootleggers Brewery in Fullerton, CA., a few miles from the house. But as good as Golden Chaos is, I prefer O'Hara's from a little vale just south of Dublin.

I had to look up barelywine. Never heard of it before. It's one of the strongest styles of beers. Apparently it's "lively and fruity, sometimes sweet, and sometimes bittersweet."

I won't drink too much of it and usually laws prohibit being overserved at a pub/taphouse but I enjoy them more than imperial stout.

Yeah if you want one of the best imperial stouts ever you have to try and get yourself a bottle of called The Abyss. I'm not joking when I say it's the best imperial stout I've ever had.

Okay, straight up guys-the Bigfoot Barleywine ages like a wine. What you got was probably relatively fresh. I still have three 12 oz bottles of the same from 2008 and every one I've had from the six pack gets better with age. Special occasion type drink. I got goosebumps when I saw you were trying it!!

their website lists a regular but try channel had a barrel-aged bigfoot, so technically aged awhile. Don't think I've had some Bigfoot before but for sure some barleywine from some other spots.

On Oahu (admittedly about 50 years ago) we would say, “okole maluna” which, translated literally, means “bottoms up”.
