    Hi. I Think you may have known by now what's happened in Italy with these U-masks.
    An investigation tv program discovered that these masks are not what they claim about filtering.
    In fact they made accurate tests and there was a police intervention.
    Now consumers are starting a class-action.

    Thanks for the review. Are there any gaps where air can get in or out and do you feel protected wearing it? Ive bought one for my parter and I, we live in London and will start taking public transport from next week.

      There is a small gap on either side of the mask, but this is normal the same if you were wearing a 3-PLY displosable. I feel very safe wearing it out in public knowing that its rating and technology is as good as N95 where as you see others just wearing a fabric cover. I think its money well spent considering it can be re-used and the filters work up to 200 hours. I bought a different brand for my gf called Cambridge Mask before this one and it works similarly but was much thicker and started giving her spots cos it was too stuffy.

    I bought one, but oddly I find that the one I received is smaller. Indeed, there is not a lot of material that goes under the chin. Looks like I got the child version ... however it doesn't exist. So I think they are not all made correctly.

      The first version they made was a one size fits all. Now they are on Version 2.0, with 2 sizes.

    I’m concerned that you say that your glasses steam up as this means air is escaping through the gaps in mask to face which means you are exposed to air contaminates a well fitted mask should not cause steamed glasses which means you are not fully protected

      Thanks for your input. Do you have a well fitted mask you could recommend to everyone instead of the U-mask. I'd surely like to know about it :) .... Your concern is valid but unavoidable. No face covering mask on the market that i have seen would be able to be air tight unless you have a custom molded mask which follows your face line, or if you buy something like those high tech ones for £100-£200 such as LG air purifer mask.

    I've seen some of the other comments and there's a concern about the fit being airtight.
    I have the same concern. I've fitted adhesive metal nose strips to the filters. I find when you talk a lot the mask easily slips without these strips. With the nose strip the fit is really good, almost airtight. Because it's so lightweight what seal is there around the chin and side of the face is broken a little when you exhale but when inhaling the seal seems to improve the fit.
    Interestingly the FAQ on U-mask for their model one claims that an airtight fit is not necessary because of the way the biotech works. Their model one was FFP2 certified. Model two uses the same technology, so logically a completely airtight fit should not be necessary. The thing is being FFP2 does no mean it protects from coronavirus and the way it is transmitted. Right now it's unknown if the bio-tech is effective against viruses, but it seems to protect against bacteria even without an airtight fit.
    Having worn a surgical mask previously the U-mask provides a better fit. It is also much more comfortable. The anti-bacterial layer in the mask smells like honey to me, and seems to prevent bad odour even after 4+ hours of continuous wear. I actually like wearing it. A bit of anecdotal evidence of it's pollution filtration: I was standing by a busy road waiting for a bus and took the mask off for a bit of fresh air and was immediately hit by strong exhaust fumes from passing traffic. I'd never noticed it before wearing the mask.

      Appreciate the detailed comment. Two questions though, how has the filter and the overall shape of the mask held up over time? and also, do the self adhesive metal strips stay stuck to the mask after washes?

    Hi! Looks like it does not have a metal strip for fitting in the nasal area. Does it leave any gaps in the area between nose and eyes?

    • @devilaa
      @devilaa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The mask does not have a metal strip no. They cleverly designed it to contour around the face which i think is great as you dont need to keep figitting with the metal strip to adjust. The mask stays in place pretty well.
      There is a small gap between nose and eyes but this is normal, you would be crazy to have no gaps at all, otherwise air would not flow in or out well.
