Oh my God...you are a native speaker of English, but your pronunciation of Standard Indonesian is very good. However, you should improve the pronuncation of certain consonants, such as "j" and "c", which you pronounce in a foreign way...like Cinta Laura - a German-Indonesian actress do. You should improve the intonation and pitch, which are heard un-Indonesian...but you are very well understood by all Indonesian speakers. You are the best!
"bandara" is an acronym for "bandar udara" which literally means "airport", so you can memorise this word as air = udara port = bandar airport = bandar udara -> "bandara" meanwhile "bendera" is flag 😄😉
The bandera/bandara thing isn't a problem if you speak Portuguese. Since Indonesia was at one point a Portuguese colony, they adopted the Portuguese word bandeira, which of course means flag. The same goes for the Philippines, only they were a Spanish colony.
Lynsie the way you pronounce Indonesian words with "r" is perfect!! It's really common to see a foreigners struggling to pronounce Indonesian words with "r" in it and you're 👍👍👍
Correction, although not completely wrong, "pergi terus" is only used by foreigners for "keep going", most Indonesian natives use "terus saja" or "jalan terus". For us "pergi terus" means "always leaving" or "never stays home" similar to "selalu pergi"
