This story was published between may and august of 2012. In one of the authors notes, DarkDoomFireMaster (our scholar and hero) mentions that it’s summer and he’s ready for 8th grade. Coming to this from My Immortal, you really have to appreciate the duality of girls and boys fan-fiction. I love how the writer added the subtlety of making Sonic a person who goes for looks and not what is inside a person for a love interest. It is typical for a high school aged kid to only go for looks and not care for what is inside. Adding a layer of immaturity to Sonic giving opportunity's to develop his character further in later stories.

Tails is my favorite character in this. Something about the way he speaks is vaguely unsettling; his tone of voice and what he says makes him sound like a computer pretending to be human.
I genuinely got so unnerved whenever I saw that taxidermy fox.
Between the nasally accent, the stilted inflection on every syllable, and the microphone quality being subpar, it makes him sound like one of those text-to-speech programs.
I thought he looked beautiful.
Tails looks and sounds like he’d be in one of those surreal animations where you have no idea what’s going on
His differences between the characters personality wise and how he's a actual animal (dead one but still) makes Tails sounds like a serial murderer that killed the original tails, replaced him and attempting to lure his friends.

As bad as this fic is, it looks like a masterpiece in comparison to My Immortal. It has an actual coherent plot, doesn’t spend ages talking about outfit changes, and the characters seem to have clear motivations (despite how dumb those motivations may be). My Immortal has none of those things, instead coming across as the chaotic mess that it is.
I think the author of Sonic High School must have been a 12 year old who was really trying their hardest to write a good story. And I think there is something endearing about that.
