    Would love to see how you normally finish your hems in a short tutorial. Love the tip about the shrinking band when you interface.

    Love the Taika Dress on you - when you first showed the pattern I loved it, but for myself thought the front was very low, but it doesn't seem that way on you :)

    Your Taika dress looks great Deb, the colours look so nice on you. What an interesting construction process! I agree the fabric was great to work with, not shifty and troublesome at all 🙂

      @@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 I've made another Nick's Blouse. I'm determined to get the fit right!!! I might do a video just on all my Nick's Blouses and the tweeks I've made. Sadly it still doesn't look/fit like it does on the model 🤦‍♀️

      @@sewmuchsewing Hi Catherine, did you size down, maybe by 2 sizes, even if you size down 2 sizes in the shoulders and top section, then grade out to one size down for the lower section, because you can always take in the lower section easily. I would concentrate on getting the shoulders to fit, I do believe there is a great deal of ease in the Nicks dress. Hope you get a better fit soon, Deb 🧵🪡💕

      @@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 I feel like the ease in the bodice might be fine in the dress with the elasticised waist, but in the blouse it is a bit much. The armholes fit perfectly so there is no going down a size there, but I did take a .5cm off the shoulder and 2cm off the front seam so 4cm in total across the front. That is a heck of a lot! But that made a big difference. I'm okwith the final result, but I think an extra .5cm off the shoulder would be the final tweak..... if I can be bothered. I'm a bit over it 😁

    I think it’s lovely, and I also think that print would look great with a white jacket for layering. Thanks for the Armidale tip - I have that pattern and I must hurry up and print it for my sewing circulation.

      Thanks Rebecca, I do wear a white tencel denim style jacket over the Armidale dress when the weather is cooler, both dresses are a flattering look. 🧵🪡💕

    Hi Debra
    I have just found your sewing channel. I'm loving your dress.
    It's so good to watch a sewer from Melbourne. I live in Melbourne too.
    You sound like you have been sewing for years.

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Libby and welcome to my channel. I have been sewing for 50 years, that makes me sound really old, started when I was 11 years old. I live in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, how about you? Where do you buy your fabrics from? Glad you came onboard 🧵🪡💕

      @db designs and sewing Australia
      Wow thats along time.
      Although l say that but I've been sewing from probably around the same age. I use to sew soft animals and clowns back then and sell them.
      When l had kids l started making them basic clothes then stopped sewing for years.
      Then l got into patchwork probably 6 years ago maybe which l love.
      I started up clothe sewing again in covid.
      Which l like but the fitting side for me is hard. I'm a perfectionist, which makes me very picky when l make things.
      I am trying to be less critical of what l make. Lol.
      I work part-time so l really only have weekends.
      I get very frustrated when l feel l can do the sewing part of things, but not so much of the fitting side. Don't quite get that.
      Did you have those sort of issues?
      Lovely to chat to you. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
      Libby

      @@libbybennett3067 it is always easier to fit on other people not yourself, but I do have mannequins in several sizes so that makes it easier, I do make toiles before I cut fabric I really love. If something doesn’t work out I usually turn it into something else, not often I just leave it have made, I have four sisters so sometimes if something doesn’t fit I give it to one of them. It is quilting that turns you into a perfectionist, as quilting doesn’t look great unless it’s perfect. I usually look at patterns using the finished measurements as some have way too much ease, I do have pattern making skills so often mash many pattern together. Glad you joined me 🧵🪡💕
