    Normally I wouldn't make a comment like this, on TH-cam of all places, but I might as well make use of my tiny stepping stool of a platform.
    The decision made by the SCOTUS was a disgusting display rooted in seizing more power and control for old, privileged, white men while eroding the rights of anyone with a uterus. If you are in support of their decision, kindly unsub from me because you are in favor of a power structure that I refuse to support or associate with.

    FF11's whm is still my favorite healing experience in any game and I prefer pure healing of whm in 11 over the green dps in 14

      From what I saw on FF wiki, XI's WHM also gets to have more fun with actual support spells too.

      @@Sarixis it's unrivaled in that aspect. Besides the obvious protectra, shellra, and regen spells, you have a lot of status removal spells that you'd use over esuna due to mp conservation like poisona to remove poison, viruna to remove disease, etc. Then there the resist spells like barfira to resist fire dmg, and ones that you can use to resist their respective debuff. There was an area in 11 where you fight hobgoblins that use bomb toss, fire based ability, and they'd deal massive AOE dmg to nearby players. They can deal over 500 damage (sometimes exceeded 1k) and around those levels, most peoples hp was around 800-1300. Barfira could take it down to around 100 or so. Also you could just read debuffs and buffs certain people had, you have to go by observations (reading combat effects in chat log) and memory which abilities inflict which status effect and what to use to minimize the effect.

      @@nicgara8781 That sounds a lot more engaging compared to how vapid XIV's combat has gotten. It's a shame I never got into XI. A big part of why I don't include it in these videos is because it would be a massive time sink to catch and then try to get footage.

    A very important thing for xiv, we don't have many statuses being thrown in need for esuna like the mentioned 10. E8s made a great use of it but besides that, I can't think of any fights where you esuna something (there is also TEA but doesn't compare to e8s having the mech where you let two guys frozen)
    Similarly, interrupts are just a "did you pay attention" check in the rare occasions they are used.
    (Not to mention the utterly useless role action kit of the phys ranged)
    I just wish they make a puzzle boss that uses those mechanics and there is a decision to be made there.

      I actually covered that problem in a previous video of mine. XIV's combat is painfully binary, which is why it's way more fun to talk about the older FF titles. Hopefully you at least enjoyed this video!

    Your videos are so well put together! I really enjoy getting to know more about the jobs on past FF games, since I've only played a few of them. And as a SCH main in XIV, I'm really excited to hear more about their past iterations.

    • @Sarixis
      @Sarixis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw thanks! I really try to make quality videos. Eventually I'll get to SCH after the OG 6 jobs, though it'll be tricky since the job has had only a handful of appearances.

    I'm surprised you made no mention FFXI's White Mage.
    Its kinda funny comparing WHM to WHM from XI to XIV. They share some spell names, but are VASTLY different beasts.

    • @Sarixis
      @Sarixis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I've seen how different they are on FF wiki. I just don't discuss XI partially due to having 0 experience and also because it would make these videos take so much longer to record because I'd have to devote a bunch of time to playing that game and leveling up jobs.

      @@Sarixis WHM in FFXI is a lot closer to that cleric fantasy. You can even slap on hammers to them, for that old school FFI vibe.

      @@pockystyx4087 That's what I noticed from the FF wiki. It looks like a fun version of the job so maybe I'll try XI someday with a friend group. At least I have the games I mentioned for fun versions of WHM.

    unless they wanna risk a backlash of normies or something, they won't make buffs/debuffs relevant for the time being, so the classic WHM tropes won't be implemented unfortunately. That being said, WHM is my favorite healer now that I've played them all and will definitely be my go-to choice when I wanna heal raids and higher end stuff in the future. Very easy to pick up and animations are super satisfying, can't complain!

    • @Sarixis
      @Sarixis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don't expect them to make such changes nor am I advocating for them, since they've been committed to a path of least resistance philosophy in terms of job and combat design. I just personally find XIV's iteration boring and disappointing in comparison to its predecessors. And like I said in the video, I simply turn to other FF titles if I want to find enjoyment with the job.

    A white mage that _only heals?_ What is this heresy?
    Given that X was my first FF, I kind of got it stuck in my head that summoning and white magic went together. xD

    • @Sarixis
      @Sarixis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      FFX was my first mainline FF so I also tend to intertwine the 2 jobs together too. I'm pretty sure Squaresoft did this after seeing how ridiculous Rydia could be with Summoning and Black Magic.
