Lithium batteries in cars was never the future for several very obvious reasons. Elon is running out of hard core Tesla sheeples to sell cars to, he now has to convince the majority of the population whom remain very skeptical and its not looking good.
Stop abusing mentally ill and vulnerable people caleb. Your behavior, toxicity, screaming and insulting them for your views to come attack them further? You are doing real damage to people. For every person you help you are screwing over another one. Your "strategy" doesnt work on everyone, and the way you treat people turns some people off and makes them worse. Why do you enjoy humiliating and dehumanizing people?

Toyota was so spot on about hybrids being a more dependable platform to cut emissions than full electric at this time. There are just too many downsides to full electric at such a premium cost.
Hey Tesla, model Y is cheaper ($37k after rebates) than the hybrid version of the RAV4 (45k for the plug in hybrid or $38k for the premium hybrid) in 2024 So purchase price is a lot cheaper on the EV so I don’t know why you’re saying this
@@MichaelOrtega you actually highlighted exactly what I mean! They hover around the same entry while a hybrid offers a lot more flexibility and longevity not to mention saving on maintenance cost. Plus the finish and quality on a new Toyota is undeniably better than an entry level Tesla. Plus if you want everything you can get out of a Tesla you’ll need to install a charger in your home and possibly pay subscription fees to unlock features. For as long as EVs have these downsides I wouldn’t consider them unless they were SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper to acquire than a hybrid or even just an ICE vehicle. And forget about them altogether if you don’t live in a somewhat metropolitan area.

As a canadian that works in the car business. The gov't forcing ev vehicles has been a major turn off on lots of customers.
Evs makes more sense for home owners that have a wall charger especially if they have solar. Most apartments don’t have a charging station so you would need to take it elsewhere to charge

Caleb, The Canadian capital gains are not taxed at 66%. Right now 50% of your gains are taxed at your income tax level of let's say 50% so you end up paying around 25%. The new rule makes it 66% above 250k$ which would be around 33%. More than the 15-20% in the US but way less than the 66% you mentioned.

As a Canadian, thanks for covering Canadian news. 90% of my investments is in USA s and p 500 only 10% in Canada as usa is such a better place to invest. Also housing is much less affordable here than in USA.

Yeah I think leasing a Tesla at this point is the only thing that makes sense. Depreciation is crazy and lots of issues. Looking at a model 3
The hard part about leasing a Tesla is that there’s no option to buy out in the end, you’re forced to give it back no matter what. The depreciation is insane, we just saw price cut in the model Y announced this morning.
Leasing is the only way to go, these cars aren’t designed to go 75k miles. Just wait till you’re out of warranty and see the dealer labor rate ($250 per hour)
@@jonathang2203I would disagree, one of my family members has over 150k miles on their early model 3, ~600 miles a week of freeway miles commuting. They have not had a single problem with the car

@@CalebHammer Technically the Model Y is higher priced than a few weeks back even though MSRP is lower now compared to last week. Tesla was doing HEAVY discounts for existing inventory so there were a lot of Model Y's being discounted $2k-$6k from their MSRP. For example, you could have gotten a Model Y Long Range for $44.9k ($37.5k after tax credit) last week but with the removal of inventory discounts and the recent price increase/decrease, you can now only get a Model Y Long Range for $47.9k ($40.5k after tax credit) which is net $3k higher priced. The past few months, Tesla was playing weird sales tactic games with their Model Y MSRP increases and inventory discounts.
However, with the same news Tesla actually did do minor price cuts for S and X ($2k off) and the price for FSD keeps changing so it's been 🤡. I'm more in favor for affordability though which Tesla seems to emphasize. Tesla sales for Model Y and 3 exploded at beginning of 2023 due to the big price cuts and the federal tax credit so we know affordability is what actually sells Tesla's products even though they do have great software.

I loved my ev. I sold it when prices for electric cars skyrocketed in 2021. I've been waiting for the market to crash ever since. I can't wait to pick up another once the Tesla bubble pops

EVs restrict where you can drive. A vehicle with an ICE and some gas/jerry cans can go pretty much anywhere.
Batteries also perform badly in the cold where ICE may not perform at their peak but perform much better and more reliably than their battery counterparts. If you also drive a stick shift, you also have the capability to push start your car if the battery is dead.
Caleb the canada capital gains rate is the inclusion rate not the tax rate
Yep. Capital gains works differently in Canada than the US: the 2/3rds is the portion of the gain which is exposed to taxation, not the tax rate.
Zoning is at the municipal level in Canada and the US. Very often municipalities have different priorities than federal government. And municipal government is very sensitive to NIMBY constituehts.
The thing is If your commute is short enough a hybrid can get you there with all the benefits of a battery but then you still have the convenience of the gas network on longer trips
Watch out for the smell too. Started coming out of our vents. Guess it's a known issue.
How can inventory be low for homes in the us? No bs, in my area there are literally thousands of house neighborhoods going up all around me. I was shook when I heard that

A friend of mine was recluted from Poland to work for Tesla USA and two weeks after being relocated he was fired, with no warning only an email. He lost the deposit on the apartment and Obviously his job in Poland.

I just sold my Tesla for a Corolla (regular gas one) because I’m moving somewhere that wont have a place to charge. Lost money obviously since the Tesla depreciated so quickly, but I’ll have peace of mind. Plenty of superchargers around, but I couldn’t realistically go and charge weekly- I be TIRED after work lol!
I would say the 2024 first quarter has brough a good rise in the sales for the Mach-e. As they've adjusted their price to be more competitive and to combat the cars not getting the tax credit. Along with their deals of 0% interest, 1.9% interest and lots of leasing deals as well. 2023 was not a good year for ford e.v
Got my mach-e for 1% interest and got 3 years of the self driving Blue Cruise for no additional cost
Edit: i love the competition that is being created for the E.V's, it makes for better innovation.

The number one reason why I do not like Teslas even though I love the technology and everything about them is the cost of that battery is so damn expensive. And through a software update, can break the shit out of your car. I’m like an engine or yes you have to do maintenance more often but you’re not going to eventually be slapped if they $10-$15,000 battery replacement after 2 to 3 years, it’s insane and not tenable for the normal driver
There’s an 8 year warranty on the battery

I'll buy an electric car when I can get one for $25,000, it has 600+ miles of range, there's a ton of aftermarket support, charging stations are everywhere (including my apartment), and my independent mechanic can repair my car. Until then i'll stick with hybrids at best. Unlike stocks or real estate, you don't gain anything by being an early adopter of technology. You just spend more money for new stuff that hasn't had all the bugs worked out yet.
Nobody is going to care if deliveries drop but quality goes up. Tech companies all went through their lay offs last year. It’s good move

Canada's housing is in a weird state that amounts to half of the US screaming "but I wanna live in Manhattan!" and then whining about how expensive everything is. Housing is absolutely affordable in huge swaths of the country. But the corridor from Windsor to Montreal (accounting for 70% of the country's population) is just densely packed (and made more densely packed for reasons mentioned in this video).

I don’t think Tesla sales are down because of bad or not good product but it’s just too reliable to keep reselling.
66% of the capital gains are to be imposed at 50% for capital gains over 250k. The taxation rate is NOT at 66%. The other 33% is tax exempt according to capital gains rules.
Means that now, following new guidelines, the imposition rate on capital gains, for a 250k capital gain would be more along the lines of 33% going to taxes instead of 25% and this is assuming a 50% marginal imposition rate.
This also does not include primary houses.
The affirmation at 19:20 ish is thus incorrect.

i think tesla FSD would be much more useful as a "get FSD for 24 hours for 5 or 10 bucks". I don't expect people to get their money's worth at 99/mo or 15k. Seems much more useful for the odd road trip. For the people with super long commutes, it would probably be more worth the 99/mo

My Tesla is 3 years old and I just had to pay $2700 to replace the entire computer. Not to mention I purchased it 1 year before the price drop. I won’t be purchasing another. Which is sad because I really do love the car otherwise.
There are real car companies make some fantastic EVs that offer more reasonable repair bills
Not a solution for new buyers but honestly look at the market. I scored after searching for a first time EV and went with the 2018 Model S 75D for $24k. And using the tax credit, I didn’t have to put anything down and walked out the door with a $22.5k loan. Granted a good score helped but still. No issues with the car at 87k miles and paying this thing off in 2 years with extra payments, I can still own it with the remaining 2 years of battery warranty. and if the battery holds up well, I’ll keep using it cuz it does save me a ton charging at home. Buy used, it’s heavily marked down! 73% depreciation coming from a $86k window sticker, this car was a steal. 2000 miles into now, still no noise and no issues, driving in Michigan. Not to mention I doordash in it. And only paying $65 in electricity for 2000 miles is a no brainer.
Isnt the 67% capital gains tax only for people that have more than 1 property?
