It was interesting to hear about Linda’s grandma. She was quite a woman!
I hadn’t thought about mimeograph machines in years. When we were given papers in school with blue print, the first thing everyone did was smell it. When I took office practice in high school, I had to learn how to use a mimeograph machine and actually used one on my first job.
I had a coworker who lived in a retirement community in Ocala and they were awarded custody of their grandchildren. The neighbors were nice to let them live there while they were selling the house and buying another one in a regular community. After the kids were grown and moved away, they sold that house and moved back to the retirement community.
I always enjoy your videos. I live in Ocala and could never afford to live there but enjoy the restaurants and shops.

I stopped watching for a bit (just crazy busy) but watched today. First comment is that I really noticed how Miss Linda has come a long way out of her shell since first episodes. Love the Empowered Linda!!! And Mr. Jerry has positively encouraged his lovely wife so it's good to see a mutually beneficial relationship/marriage in action. There is hope out there. Thank you.

My mom and I live in a courtyard villa in Fenney and love the lanai- we love our lanai and spend a majority of our days and nights out on the lanai. It’s screened in- not glasses in and we hear NOTHING other than the birds. We don’t hear cars, we don’t hear other people talking, we don’t hear TV’s or don’t smell any cigarettes/cigars!! We chose our home specifically to be far from a major road and freeway.
We love it here!!!!

Bless your heart, it hit our family this month and still struggling with fatigue. I had to have the infusion, but it really helped. Thankful you are both better. BEAUTIFUL cutting board. I was a secretary and often used mimeograph machines in the early years, such memories, can still smell it.

Glad you two are doing better. Seems like at some point. we'll all get Covid. Hopefully not. I also had it earlier this month, more fatigue than anything else. So glad I was vaccinated, so glad you were. Could've been much worse.

Chuck just said yesterday “I hope we don’t go 3 months without seeing Jerry and Linda” so we will keep looking for you out and about. We could not have gotten acclimated to TV so fast without your videos. We are loving it and will continue to be super viewers.

I got omicron a couple weeks ago No fun and not severe Have immunity again. Had Delta(much worse) now omicron Jerry and Linda happy to hear you are better

Sorry for your covid infection. We are having combined Flu and Omicron here. One of our vaccinated friends has this. Been 9 weeks of illness. Our daughter is vaccinated. Has tested positive 3 times in the last 12 months. She has been less sick each time. Glad you both healed. Would sure be lonely on Mondays without your videos.

I had missed this video when it first came out. Really enjoyed hearing about your teaching careers. I taught for 5 years. Also, I lived in Jeffersonville IN in the late 50s where I went to Junior High School. When did they change that to Middle School? Loved the people and teachers there.
So glad you’re both on the mend. We almost signed on the dotted line (closing date was scheduled for 2/8), but the monthly expenses with the rising inflation costs really took me by surprise, so we backed out for now. As pending snowbirds I could not justify the cost so we bought a RV Motorhome and will travel when we can until we are fully retired. I still love The Villages and have several friends who live there. For now we will visit.
I appreciate all the work you put into each video. Teaching kindergarten remotely last year made me feel like a TH-camr with all my monitors and cameras. Glad you’re feeling better!! 👍🏻
I always carried my golf clubs never covered them, never took them off except when I went grocery shopping. Even went to Walmart no problems I had a new set of R-11’s. One time I went to Walmart and the sun was shining when I came outside a big rainstorm came over and didn’t pull the cover from my golf cart over the clubs and I thought my clubs and bag would be drenched, somebody came by my cart and lowered my cover for me. I wish I could have thanked the person that did.it.

Hey Jerry! Hey Linda! Sorry to hear you guys got COVID. Karen and I got it just 2 weeks before our move to TV. Bad timing when you're packing and selling stuff. Funny, I did the Barry White thing too. ;) Glad you're feeling better.
We drove 18 hours straight through from Texas [took a 5 hour nap at a hotel somewhere] and arrived last Thursday. Been unpacking and shopping for stuff. Not had time to do any "fun stuff" yet. But we did get to meet our neighbors, Angela and Mark, that you did a shout out on last week. Wonderful folks! :)

Jerry and Linda - For homesteaded property in Florida the annual increase in assessed value is limited to the CPI or 3% whichever is less so increases in property tax are limited at least based on assessed value. However, the taxing bodies can still increase the tax rate. This was an amendment to the Florida constitution in 1995 called Save Our Homes. This applies only if you have your homestead in Florida and is not transferred to a buyer of your home but some or all of the difference between the taxed assessed value and true value would be portable if you purchase another home in Florida.
So important to apply for Homestead Exemption first year after purchase. Real estate agents representing buyers need to point this out but in my experience they don't. I only know because I've been here most of my life. Rental property does not qualify and it is the reason for skyrocketing rent. People that rent think they do not pay property tax. Landlords pass it on to the renter.
I would like to compare my wife and my teaching yrs (33) here in Florida (polk county) to yours in Indiana. This is would interesting. We were both Band Directors in jr and sr. hi. and then we moved to lower grades. We loved most of it.

We were here during the tornado and the developer had the roofs tapped the next day and within 6 months all roofs and damage were repaired. People offered their homes to those who were displaced. Don’t think that would occur elsewhere

Fellow Hoosiers here, Ft Wayne, heading down early March during spring brake with our ball state student in tow. Visiting the folks. We are too young to hang it up and move down there, but hopefully things calm down a little with house prices or we may never make it. I remember when a million dollars was still a lot of money for a house ;-)

We thought something was wrong there. Had a period of withdrawal on Thursday though. So we watched some earlier videos of you guys.
We found out when we knew company would be visiting and our dog was looking for a little more attention. Before the visit we would go for a longer walk and then throw her tennis ball for a while.
After that she was a little tired and chilled while we visited.

Yes there’s a lot of set up involved - redo’s retakes - filming is time consuming even for those of us who love the camera I have included bloopers sometimes 🤣 but we all make it look so easy but it’s time consuming no matter how long you have been at it!
My homeowners insurance has skyrocketed (doubled the value of my home to rebuild). My property taxes last year held steady but I'm holding my breath on this year.
That cutting board is amazing being a fellow woodworker myself I really appreciate it guess I'd have to invest in some CNC equipment in order to achieve that level of craftsmanship.

After 20 years in the Army my husband taught social studies and coached for 16 years, and loved it, but did not like all the new requirements for computer postings, etc. either. It’s too bad - I know a lot of good teachers took retirements earlier than maybe they would have because of those type things. You do a great job with your videos - you have come a long way! I don't find much noise here in the Village we live in. We hear the music in Spanish Springs, or Lake Sumter, depending on the direction of the wind. I love hearing the train in Wildwood.

Here ya go!
LINDA'S MEATLOAF CANDY
(That's what Jerry calls it😁)
1 1/4 lbs ground beef or chuck
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp. Soy sauce
1 Tbsp A-1 steak sauce
1 Tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tsp. mustard
1 egg
1/2 sleeve of Town House crackers or Ritz
TOPPING:
1/3 Cup Ketchup
3 Tbsp brown sugar
Mix all ingredients. ( except topping) in a large bowl.
Mold into a loaf.
Mix ketchup and brown sugar to coat over the top of the loaf. The sauce goes on before putting it in the oven.
Bake in a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish for 1 hour at 350°.
(sometimes I add 1/2 stalk of finely chopped celery and or a packet of dry Lipton onion soup mix).
Let it stand for 10 minutes or so.

I'm 3x vaccinated and got infected with covid in Jan 2022. Basically felt like a bad cold and lasted 2 weeks. Mostly sore throat and fatigue.

Love your videos and have been watching for a long time. My husband and I did a 4 day life style visit before Christmas and I really enjoyed The Villages (we didn't buy a home at this time though). During our 6 week stay in Florida based on your recommendation we tried Culver's and loved it, we must have eaten there 10 times in that 6 weeks up and down the West Coast!
