I just "took the plunge" and moved here at 81!
Thank you for addressing children living there. I have read many negative comments abt such restrictions such as “what if parents are deployed and kids must live with grandparents?” Maintain rules and standards….children don’t live in such developments.
You two are so sweet! I love how you laugh together and at each other, not taking yourselves seriously shows you have a great marriage!
God bless you and keep you ,thank you all the best
Glad to hear that Gizmo is feeling better.
Subscribed!! Loving it on the documentary on the life style in The Village.
Hi Jerry and Linda. We just love your show. We watch all the time. We moved to The Villages 4 months ago from Alabama. We just love it!! Y'all have been a wealth of information. We are signed up for the group cruise and can't wait to meet you in person! Glad Gizmo is doing better. Thanks for all you do.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jerry, the photo of Cheryl and I was taken at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park on October 1st. Thanks for mentioning us!
Ahhhh, little Gizmo, so pleased he’s feeling better👍🏽💛
Thanks!
Patricia!!! Thank you SO much! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mrs Wood. The Spanish moss is full of bugs to include chiggers and sometimes fleas. Take it from someone who collected some up many years ago!
Great show, glad Gizmo is feeling better, hope that continues.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great vidoe Linda and Jerry! Thanks for all you do. You make the world a better place.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome show Jerry and Linda...I love the Bloopers! So happy little Gizmo is feeling better, and I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!
We get two takeout spaghetti dinners at Olive Garden: spaghetti, three meatballs and minestrone soup for $40 including $5 tip. The first night we eat the spaghetti and one meatball. The second night we eat the soup. The third night we make meatball sliders. That’s six meals for $40.
Now that's what I call economizing!😊
I hope your life gets better
$5 tip? I would’ve never come to your table if I’d have known that. Tightwad. SMH
@@claudia6277 Maybe that's all you deserve. Aside from that, judge not...
@@claudia6277 it was take out, not served.
Great jokes, Gizzy! Very informative today, as always! We don’t go out to eat more than 1-2 times week, often not even that much. We enjoy having meals with neighbors in our village. I think as far as the expense of living here, it’s like any big life decision. You have to look at what you can afford, save and budget. It’s not for everyone. No place is for everyone! Thanks Jerry & Linda!
Thanks for the update on Gizmo. So glad he is doing better!
⏩ *Spanish moss is not great for respiratory allergies,* but sure beautiful to look at.
*Best to admire from afar!*
Launches are a nice perk of living in Central FL. Before NASA decommissioned the shuttle program, when the shuttle would return to Cape Canaveral for landing, we’d get a helluva sonic boom over Polk. Sounded like somebody hit the house - then I’d remember oh yeah - shuttle is returning this morning.
Hi Jerry, Linda and Gizmo,
After watching you for several years I took the plunge and moved from So. Calif. to The Villages in October. Loving it so far, but having a hard time with my sense of direction. That will come after awhile, I am sure. I have 2 pools within walking distance and make good use of them. Next is getting a gym nearby. You are truly special. Hope to see you out and about. Blessings
You are correct, you will get the hang of it. It is a little daunting at first, but now we feel like old pros. WELCOME!!!
Ramps would help Gizmo out!! We have one for the sofa and another one for the bed for our 12-year old Chihuahua and have used them going on 4 years now. Etsy has many sellers-we used Ruff Ramps for the one at the bed and Royal Ramps for the sofa. They are pricey but worth every penny. Gizmo will thank you!!
I’m with you guys. A golf car community in a warm state sounds heavenly.
I would like to see a burger joint or cafe with a 1950s twist. Jukeboxes and Soda jerks.
Good morning you guys. Going to be cold and stormy. Have an aunt who has lived in the Villages over 20years. Says she doesn't have a golf cart because she lives so close to the clubhouse she walks. She will be 91 years old next month.
I live in Fernley NV.
Love you❤ guys and Gizmo
Tuesday lunch with Mailbag Monday - the best! Hi from Switzerland….
Hi Vicky! Did I ever tell you that we went to Lake Lucerne? We also went up a mountain on an amazing tram where you could stand on top of it. We absolutely loved Switzerland.
Definitely looking forward to no Ice and snow! Also no leaves in the fall.
Some Spanish moss has Lice, learned that years ago when I lived in Fl, learned the hard way, thats why you dont mess with it.
Charlotte here from Irwin, Pennsylvania. I always enjoy your videos. Very informative and delightful.
Hi, first time posting . In my 50s with kids still in school, but one day I’d like to relocate there. We are in Tampa. Just love watching you both . It’s like having coffee with a good friend. Keep up with the great videos ❤
Thank you RR! A lot of our viewers end up being our friends. We really enjoy meeting and interacting with all of the great folks that watch our channel.
Can’t wait to get back there. Portland Michigan has 10 inches of snow and still more coming.
😮😮😮😮
Wish I could give Gizmo a big hug in person! ❤️ you all....
Glad Gizmo is doing better!!! ❤
I really like watching you two. Thanks for sharing in your natural way. Love it!
Another Good one and Sarge goes back to retirement as in No more paper work... ALOHA
Hope you made it through the storm ! Hang in There! Steve from Boston US NAVY Vet.😎🇺🇸⚓
Thank you for your service, Steve!
I have been for you guys and low and behold you popped up on my TH-cam..Love your videos! Wishing you guys a Very Blessed Thanksgiving..
Thank you Paulette! You too.
Hi you two, I just subscribed to your channel, you guys seem so sweet. We live in tacoma Washington, 30 miles south of Seattle. We are retiring next summer moving part time to Michigan with our daughters family and part in Washington but We’ve always thought about Florida but not sure so listening to couples like you give us more info! Thank you, God bless!
My husband and I share meals a lot when we eat out. The portions are huge and we don't need all those calories. I hope Gizmo recovers quickly. He is such a sweetie! We were also very happy with our tax bill in Ocala. Thanks for the great show!
I go to IHOP and love the 55+ menu but their understaffed..By me others are $25 and way to much food for breakfast.
Thank you for sharing!! You guys are great!!!
Prayers for FL during Nicole. We lived in The Villages 2015-2020. Moved back West due to family needs. We often shared a meal entree or combo at Aye Jalisco Mexican in Spanish Springs so yes, sharing saves calories and dollars. Do tip generously if you do share a couple of things. No ticks in The Villages that we ever saw. Yes, Spanish Springs had usually Lady Lake Police around during the live entertainment near the gazebo patio area and during market nights on the streets pretty often. Only once did we ever see trouble and that was pretty minor (drunken person causing a mild ruckus). Great Gizmo jokes! So fun!
😁😁😁😁😁
Do you miss it?
@@erin00002011 Yes, but family is here on the West Coast and that is important. We originally had a 1st. Cousin in FL not too far away so that made things more assured. He and wife moved back West to be near his kids and siblings. It is hard at our age to be half or more of a continent away from child and family.
Agreed.
I’m surprised they don’t have a west coast “Villages” out there with the same kind of lifestyle, amenities, set up etc.
Middleton! Sounds like there’s hope for me yet! I’m a single woman, 49, with a 5 year old (adopted). Would love to maybe move there some day!
Best of luck!
Go Gizzie, do your PT and everything will get better! OMG yes Life Style visit Go Go Go, so much to see and explore. Best was getting lost as we saw more then we originally planned. Will be planning on a 2nd Life Style visit very soon and hopefully will the time we can really nail down a house for us.
Great as always, glad to see Gizmo feeling better. Have a wonderful week.
We appreciate that. Thank you, Mark!
Mental health is a issue everywhere
It’s always great to hear from you , and great to hear from Gizmo
We winter in Puerto Vallarta and eat out frequently. We split salads, appetizers and entrees all the time. That way try different courses and do not overeat. The portions are usually very generous too 😋
I hope your life gets better
Interesting show. Good job guys. You are fun to watch.
As always, good job.
At Florida Welcome Center ....Snow Birds no more....3 hours away from full time Villagers....Life Changes....
Congratulations and welcome!
Great show keep it up.
Thanks Roy!
Love it!! "Did you Come on this Trip to Save Money...or Did you Save Money to Come on this Trip" I'll remember that when I have the Very Difficult decision of Taking a Trip .. it's So hard for me to Pay the Big Bucks to travel, with Airfare, Hotels & Such... Thank you Again Jerry & Linda!
We know! Prices are outrageous, but… we are not getting any younger.
In Missouri they call those miniscule ticks seed ticks. One year (as an adult) I got into them and had a couple hundred bites - they itched like crazy 😜 for several weeks then took about 3-4 months for the marks to go away. Glad to hear I won't have to worry about that in TV. Gizmo did a great job today, glad he's feeling better 😊.
You guys are getting better and better in your production. Love your shows. Blessings.
Thank you, Blake! 😁😁
Love y’all so much and am so glad to hear that little Gizzy is feeling better!
I don’t believe anybody ever stuffed a pillow with ticks, but you may be thinking about ticking, which is that old-timey striped fabric. The word comes from the Greek “theka,” which means case or covering, and was a very sturdy fabric used to encase the stuffing materials our ancestors used to make their mattresses and pillows, such as hay, horsehair, or (my favorite) goose down. My mother still has some old down pillows made with ticking.
Like you, I have never seen a tick in my 30 years in Florida, but one year we took our Boy Scouts to camp in Tennessee, and since I’m an RN, they always asked me to staff the first aid room. I spent that week pulling more ticks off more kids than I hope to ever see again! I even found a few of the nasty little varmints on myself. The staff had the boys making quail houses for pest control, as quails apparently have quite an appetite for ticks. We had no cases of tick-related illness, thank goodness, and the boys still loved the camp.
And as a native southerner, I vote for “dinner and supper,” although I know it’s fast losing out in popularity to “lunch and dinner” to the Yankees. 😊
It's chiggers in Spanish moss, not ticks. The person in charge of gardening at my FL retirement community put out a notice recently cautioning us that Spanish moss can harbor chiggers.
Thank you! We loved to play with it as children.
So cute with Gizmo talking. You make wonderful pet parents. 👍😉
So I can’t wear my Van Halen shirts on the golf course?!? Ah well.. I’ll find something to put on :-) fun show
LOL!
question on lawn care...Ive gotten lawn cuts needed every 7-10 days to every week. I closed on a villa with very little grass. prices from $60-80 month and landscaping on 7-8 bushes another $30 month...and yard pest treatment monthly another add on. can you give me your experience with all the lawn care needs? thanks. enjoying your videos!
Great show! Looking forward to the Christmas tree lighting -- we've only been in The Villages once for the lighting ceremonies and it was fabulous! Glad to know that Gizmo is on the mend. Probably the turn over rate in TV is not that much different than other 55+ communities. Today's old folks are movers and shakers these days, not like our grammas and papas of the past.
Well said, Carl and Shirley!
I would love to see what the drive from the VIllages to Walt Disney World via rte 27! Thank you..
Shout Outs at the beginning! Hooray! It's like bumping into an old friend. Thank you! I'm glad to hear that Gizmo is getting better.
❤❤❤❤❤
Wasn’t game great on Saturday night! Hope your shirt fit! Go Irish ☘️
ASOLUTELY! Thank you! ☘☘
So looking forward to the cruise and meeting Rob and Crissy --Congrats to them!--along with all the other nice folks. Blessings to Gizzy, and might he possibly use a ramp instead of stairs? I know he probably wouldn't care for those either if he doesn't like stairs. 'Old dog, new tricks", etc.😉🐕 We brought Spanish Moss home from a trip once and it didn't last long...squirrels and birds snagged it for nesting material!
I was at Brownwood when the shirtless fellow was wondering around. He was taken away on a stretcher, with two paramedic vehicles and three police cars taking care of business.
Good show great jokes and information
I started watching your videos over a year ago and the info you give is very rewarding and helpful. I visited the Villages twice and started looking for a house. I found the house that I wanted and then months later I got married and my wife loves the place. A lot of the info you give allows me to do my own research, but have a beginning. Me and my wife both still work here in Memphis TN. and we get to the villages every month for a few days and for 10days every other month. We will be there on the 9th before the storm and staying until the 19th. We would like to have a chance to meet you both. Please let us know if you may have any free time while we are there and we would invite you to lunch somewhere to have a chat. Keep up the great work !
Thank you Al, what a nice comment. You can reach out to us on our email:

Inflation!, hahaha Love you Gizmo. Feel better
Thanks so much, we appreciate it! ❤❤❤❤❤
i told Gizmo's ghost joke (from last week) to my grandkids and it was a huge hit!
he fell down and got a booo boooo
So happy Gizmo is doing better. Great show.
Leeches??? I'd have those suckers all over me if that was the case! My bottle brush tree has moss hanging down off it and I'd like for someone to try and tell me I can't yank it off ... but yeah, there's bugs in it, but I've never seen ticks either!🤣
Now you scare me Jerry! Do you have residents that can hold a conceal and carry firearm permit within the travel of the villages in Florida??
The rocket booster to come back and land on a special ship. They will be used for another launch. If you ever have the opportunity, watch a launch from Jetty Park or across the launch pad. It is really a mind blowing experience to listen and feel the take off and when the boosters come back down. Amazing! Glad to hear Gizmo is feeling better.
Actually 2 of the 3 boosters on that supersized rocket last week flew themselves back to landing pads at Cape Canaveral to be recovered and re-used. That is what we all were seeing after the rocket jettisoned them off. The 3rd booster on this one was not designed to return. On other launches the jettisoned 1st stage booster may go to land on a ship or back to the pad at the Cape -depending on the particular launch fuel needs . ( Mom of rocket scientist 🤓)
@@anitaoconnor2646 Yes. Some land on a boat and others land on land. Its the weirdest thing to watch live.
I see these fancy golf carts around my 55+ community and just shake my head that people will spend $15K on one. I can't do it. Mine is an older model and she putters along just fine. 😁
Hmmmm 🤔
Probably Gizmo is wondering when you going to take him out to eat and you can split the plate three ways. And by the pictures hating you he was at the vet. Hope he feels better. Another great and informative show.
Till next time
JR ✌️😎✌️
FYI Guys, Chiggers aka Redbugs live in Spanish moss. On a side, as I was growing up down in South Sumter Co. we would pull moss until we got a pickup truck load. We would take it over between Inverness and Dunellen and sell it. I think they should it to companies that mad stuffing for automobile seats. One thing for sure, we could always count on having chigger problems for a couple days. Painful buggers.
That's very interesting.
I go once a week to Augustine 1812 House for the 10oz prime rib I always bring home a nice piece for a prime rib sandwich the next day. They also had a good Sunday Buffet, I went there this Sunday and found out that was the last one. No more Buffet. It was a great price at $9.95 bummer.
Dang, we missed it!
10 ounce, I think. Not 10 inch.
@@annehajdu8654
You are right a 10oz, I hate being old.
That European tour guide had the best question!! Hubs and I will be there for a lifestyle visit over Thanksgiving, with the intent to purchase a home (as snowbirds), and when he starts trying to be frugal I’m going to ask him that very question: Are you moving here to save money or did we save money to move here???? Thanks for sharing that!! See you when we get there!!
😋... I'm sold on those wings "8 seconds" 🔥... I hope to visit villages and dine out. You guys have so much FUN.... Enjoy your channel.. Thank You
Thanks Curtis! They were good.
That explains it. Poor Gizmo.
Morning and happy Monday Jerry, Linda and Gizmo. Yes. Holiday time and entertainment. Seeing the rocket 🚀 was cool 😎. Ooh a night out with friends. That salad 🥗 looked huge. Karaoke 🎤 is fun and can be hilarious. Beautiful 1st first of you guys with Roger and Dottie. Debbie and Wally too. Wonderful when you meet folks and get those pics. Always appreciate the shout outs and viewer of the week. The Halloween shenanigans and costumes look great and glad Gizmo practically back to normal. Love how he lovingly and comfortably rests his head on your arm Jerry.
Leeches and tics oh my. 😂. Dress code in golf ⛳️? What was wrong with the airforce tee? Linda you’re like me. Emotional. But for me sometimes if I don’t cry I’ll cuss. 😮. Love your bloopers. 🤔. Oohhh. The school is for children of the employees so drive in with them daily. Ooh. Communities near but not in the villages but run by them. Those communities especially the new one being built probably will have their own amenities. 85 miles is huge. That’s about 1hr 45 min of driving at 60mph. Jerry absolutely would live inland. I’ll drive 30 minutes to get to the beach. I fear water catastrophes from hurricanes, storms. Don’t think tsunamis an issue but always on my mind. Ok. Not gated. That man sounds a lil creepy. Causing a commotion 🫤😳. That’s the one thing I like of Florida is the peace and quiet. Have never come across any such person. Even in the parks IE: Universal.
Yes. It’s about $80 - $100 for 2 for a low end meal( with cocktails 🍸 🥃 1-2 each. Go to a steakhouse and that’s an easy $250 for 2. Charge you to air up tires 🤦♀️. That expense video was awesome. Thanks so much for another great informative vid and see you Thursday. Have an amazing week.
My husband is wondering if the are putting a fitness facility in the movie theater that shut down. He said you mentioned they might. Thanks for spending dinner with us on Mondays and Thursdays😃
Yes. The word is that Genesis Health Club is moving in.
Thanks for the info. New subscribers here. I had no idea the village’s were that big. We are planning to visit the villages some time to see how we like it , but now I have no idea where to even start. 85 miles big, OH MY lol. For a start, which part do you and Linda live at? I def want a safe area and oh yes, my hubs would love a golf cart. Haha
On a TV show, I heard that the first automotive recall was in early Ford cars for those bugs because they stuffed the seats with Spanish Moss. The Villages is within a square mile or two of the size of Washington DC. An update on that shirtless crazy man, on Frank's channel he showed they police took him away.
Glad Gizmo is better!
Linda said she was sweating, I saw Gizmo was too. He was panting 😅
Jerry, the old days came with do not let the bed bugs bite! That was because of all the mites in the Spanish moss, straw, hay!
OMG, Jerry! Did you price a room in Key West during the last week of October, and the first week of November? Just came back from the MOTM at the Casa Marina Resort!
I think I would have just turned the shirt inside out.
Lol
We loved your show. Great questions and answers. You do a great job. How did you learn all the youtube techniques. Does TV have a class on it?
No, just trial-and-error. If you want to see some of the errors just watch our 1st 100 shows. 😜😜😜
I love you two!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You’re too cute Gizmo❤❤❤❤
Nothing like a M.R.E. (Meals Ready to Eat) Some are good. Others you remember not to eat. LOL. This Marine remembers. But in short, their ok. Just speaking memories.
In listening to you two sweethearts I also watch Gizmo. I think he is not feeling well as I’ve never saw him with his mouth open, panting, and a few times his tongue protruding out. I know dogs pant to cool off but could he be running a fever? Please don’t think I’m silly. I’m really concerned about him. ❤❤ Your show was great as usual. Thanks for the time you put into it. Hugs to Gizmo.
Yes I agree I noticed those things also! Hope he got some water and AC!
Lifestyle visit? How long? How much. I’m afraid to move to Florids. Sgt Husband no fear. No tax on pensions? Help.
4 or 7 nights. Depends what time of year you come. They range from $99 a night up to around $199 a night.
Fun episode! Glad to hear Gizmo is on the mend. Jerry, I just want to say that if you and Linda were to take a few weeks off or even 2 months your fans will still be here. I feel that this has consumed your life and your retirement----I know you love it but we will really be OKAY if you ever need a break. Take Care, -C
You are right, it is demanding but we really enjoy it... especially the people we meet.
Also the moss mattress back in the day. If you have permission from the owner, moss harvest is encouraged, in time, too much shade for the the tree.
Spanish moss does contain mites
Fun and informative show!! Who is the fella looking at the camera over Linda’s right shoulder?
A gift from a viewer. An Air Force figure.
👍 Happy MBM!
Just a warning, ticks are everywhere across the continental United States, whether you see them or not. Be careful. I only mention it because I unknowingly got lyme (never saw a tick and no rash).
I feel so bad for Gizmo. He was panting. I also feel bad for Linda "sweating" in her own home. 😭 Otherwise, I enjoyed your show as usual.
I don't know why she is sweating, we keep the thermostat set on 92.
@@JERRYANDLINDA 😂😂 Turn on the AC yall can afford it!! Great show as alway!
I watched a TH-cam video on the villages but it was a year old, so maybe things have changed. It wasn't from your channel, by the way.
We planned on visiting the Villages multiple times to see it was a good fit but I heard that if you stayed in one of their hotels you could not participate in their recreational activites. It was only if you were to stay in one of their homes, that you would be allowed to partipate in activities and it was called a Life Style Stay and you could only do this once in a lifetime. Thanks!
Your information is only partly correct. There are ways to rent homes and be allowed to use the amenities. The lifestyle stay has been taken more than once by many people.
