    My husband since we met 10 years ago has suffered from gout. All alternative doctors and friends have suggested to drink alkaline water and stop eating meat products. We did that for three years but his worst gout attacks happened in those times, too bad that he would be limping for a whole three weeks. He was prescribed a medication to control the uric acid in his body. When we switched to the keto diet 9 months ago, eating mostly meat products and zero alkaline water, it’s the only thing that has stopped his foot pains. On his last doctor’s visit, his MD told him his uric acid is high but he doesn’t have any pain whatsoever or limping. He did have a mild gout attack on our first month of keto but never had one since then. He’s now gout pain free for a whole 8 months without the medications prescribed. We are very grateful for learning about keto and taking the chance to try it out.

      My experience (I used to get gout 8 years ago - now 65) - I was 10 kgs overweight and was eating far too much fructose and carb's. Had mild metabolic syndrome - went on 5&2 diet, stopped all sugar (which is half fructose) orange juice and the like. Lost 10kg's in 10 weeks and since then have gone low carb (and obviously very low sugar - code for fructose) and haven't had gout since (8 years ago). Have been stable weight 74 kgs - no gut- for the last 8 years. Still do 5&2 kind of (intermittent fasting). My recommendation get off all sugar forget the red meat it's a myth.

    I have an alkaline water machine, not to move my blood pH, but rather to get the best-tasting purest water. Makes great tea and coffee. Takes out fluoride, chlorine, heavy metals. No need for throwing plastic bottles into recycling. No need to lug around heavy cases of questionable water kept for an unknown time in plastic bottles. Many good reasons for have alkaline water, but not to change my blood pH. When the rest of the neighborhood is on "boil water" orders, I just drink right out of the machine.

      For half that price you could have gotten a really great water filter that would have done the same thing, except that it would have also filtered all the water in your house who your shower wasn't pooring toxic chemicals over your skin. Just saying! You may have bought it earlier before you realized that it didn't do anything. Where do you live that you get neighborhood orders to boil your water? Damn, I was born out in the back foothills (in the south they would probably be like the hollars) where water came to our house from an open ditch with a cyphon hose running from the ditch to the house. Did Neisha read my question to you last night Dr B? I used to believe that animal products create an acidic body, that is prone to being inflammatory and cancer friendly. I haven't looked at any other resources to answer this question. I trust your expertise very much and I have been a "student" of healthy eating since I was diagnosed with RA in 2009 and refused to go on methotrexate. I was 53 then. I am 65 now and, in fact, DO NOT have RA, so praise God I have always thought outside the box! I do have bad osteo, though, and knarled, inflamed fingers and wrists and vertebrae. So I was wondering if I was hurting myself I eat primarily red meat, and my inflammation has worsened significantly over this past couple of years., so it was an honest thought. @@arnelarsen4073 Plants are not nutrient dense, well they might be nutrient dense but there are no large double blind randomized studies that show we can break down vegetation small enough to get any nutrients from vegetables. As a matter of fact there is a really good double blind randomized study that just looks at vegetables that shows that we in fact don't get any nutrition from vegetables. They are totally unnecessary. I haven't eaten one in 3 or 4 years at least one I didn't violently throw up, because they do something nasty to my body. They actually have antinutrients in them that are toxic to our bodies. They are also very oxidizing to our system and the reason why we have to take in so much Vitamin C and other antioxidants. Without vegetables I don't need lots of antioxidants in my diet and I don't have to supplement either!

    I’m a guitar player, been eating the ‘Proper Human Diet’ (Keto/low-carb) for a year now after watching Dr Berry. Went from size 38 pants to a 32!!
    Prior to going KETO, when playing guitar the strings would start to tarnish and rust after about 15-30 minutes of playing. I went through A LOT of guitar strings thinking it was the brand but they all would rust quickly. Over the last year I’ve noticed that this problem has pretty much gone away, and I can play for hours on the same set of strings for weeks without them rusting! I’m convinced my healthy diet has gradually changed my body PH for the better !!

    Hello Dr. Berry! I found your video about "Health Benefits of an Alkaline Diet? What about Alkaline Water?" very interesting and educational. One thing I try to do is take care of my health. I have Epilepsy Seizures which was hereditary from my father's side of the family in which I have both petit mal and grand mal seizures. Also, I have stomach ulcer, acid reflux, and high triglycerides. I take prescription medications for all of these specific conditions. I used to work in a warehouse and ended up having a seizure on the job. My previous neurologist/epileptologist mentioned to me that I was drinking the wrong type of water. This is what was offered at my old job at the time in the warehouse. They either would provide the brands of Dasani, Aquafina, and/or Crystal Geyser. I lived in a different state at the time when my seizure occurred. He told me that a person with Epilepsy Seizures is supposed to drink Alkaline Water or PH balanced water. I moved to a different state back in 2022 and currently do a remote job sitting down as an ESL Teacher and Academic Tutor. I do walk everywhere by exercising just to let you know. I was informed by a medical professional the following things: "Alkaline Water can raise your blood pressure due to it having sodium in it." Some questions I have for you are as follows: Is it true that Alkaline Water has sodium in it? Is it true that Alkaline Water can raise your blood pressure? What do you think is the best type of water for me to drink due to my health condition? The only reason I switched to drinking alkaline water was so that way my seizures would stay under control, have enough electrolytes in my body, and I would stay hydrated. Many times when I have drunk Drinking Water, Purified Drinking Water, or Mountain Spring Water this hasn't kept me hydrated enough. All the seizures I have had previously were mostly because of either me already being dehydrated, having dehydration beforehand, or due to stress. What are your suggestions and recommendations?

      And there it is, the value of a little Chemistry, right?! Sadly there's not enough of basic Chemistry knowledge out there in the general populace and that's how they end up victims of these Charlatans and how said Charlatans keep that lie alive and find more victims. It's pretty slick pseudoscience indeed, to the untrained eye. But this is so basic, it's embarrassing for people when they get had. So kudos to Berry for his humble apology. I get it and why he did that. It's a hard blow to take when you realize you got had by some of the absolute worst pseudoscience ever, which is literally easy peasy to debunk, so his delicate approach was perfect.
      I will admit I fell for a "bit" of it once upon a time, but quickly realized there was something off about the whole thing. And investigated further and dodged the expensive water machine B.S., and solved some digestive issues at the same time once I learned the truth and went completely in the opposite direction, hehehe. Run away, very far away and fast, in the opposite direction of quacks who spew this nonsense, lol

      I bought the machine for the filter .. and I still added a carbon filter… and another filter … I’m not mad at it though. But I have noticed when you drink a higher ph 9.5 it does make you pea like a mother f** compared to when I change the function to normal 7.0.
      But hey… 🏌🏽

    • @MrBilld75
      @MrBilld75 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BBoldGaming Yeah, aside from Ph, they are still o.k. in terms of filtering out baddies and heavy metals etc. and better than just a Brita carbon filter. And depending on water quality and piping where you are, that can be super beneficial. I had an R.O. system a cheap one that despite the alkalinity of the water being useless, it still made some of the cleanest nicest water regardless. It's not useless, just the "alkaline" Ph of it, but it is still great water, no question.
      My coffee etc. always tasted better with my R.O. water, remineralized of course, cause it stripes the water of literally everything and it was nice water. The only reason I did not replace it and gave up on reverse osmosis, was because I know now that the water quality tests for my area, are some of the cleanest in the whole country, so really, did I need R.O.? I mean, we get out water from a spring fed lake in my city, a very deep one. So I don't really need it and I came to the conclusion it was redundant and unnecessary and did not want to replace the filters anymore as they have got much more expensive. But if I lived in say Toronto, I would certainly employ it again, as people there say their water is horrible. At the very least, these machines make for a very nice quality of water that can filter a lot more than carbon does.

Point out that the pH of the stomach will immediately acidify anything you eat or drink. Nope. They don't want to hear it. I've also pointed out that most foods tend to be acidic or close to neutral, and things like lye and bleach are alkaline.

    • @NikoBellaKhouf2
      @NikoBellaKhouf2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@skinskins1863 Dr Berg has many videos on this subject. I'll summarize it the best that I can though. So your stomach acid is supposed to be 1.5 to 2.5 pH. There's a "sensor" in your stomach that measures this. When you have the correct pH, it sends a signal to your esophageal sphincter to close tight, and no acid comes up. When you have too little acid, it sends a signal to open the esophageal sphincter and acid starts to come up into your mouth. A lot of doctors wrongly think that you have too much acidity and give you medications to neutralize the acid or inhibit the proton pump. In reality, you should be taking acidifiers to lower the pH. You can take organic apple cider vinegar, one spoon diluted in a glass of water before each meal and another one before bed. (I recommend using a straw to sip it to save your teeth). Or you could take Betaine HCL tablets, as many as you need until you feel better. I've tried both and got better results with the ACV, but each person is different so try both. You might not get results right away but keep doing it and you'll see it works. One thing to keep in mind though if you take apple cider vinegar it depletes your potassium, so you'll want to increase your potassium intake (just be careful not to take too much). You'll know your potassium went too low when your calves start to cramp up or you get heart palpitations. Don't let this scare you from trying though, I just wanted to let you know what to expect. I used to have the worst acid reflux. The acid coming up wore out my teeth, inflamed all the tissues, etc. I was taking multiple medications which just made it worse and worse until I started taking apple cider vinegar. Now I can eat all the things that used to trigger massive heart burn, like chocolate, mint, tomatoes, etc. Good luck🤗

    So let me throw a couple anecdotes on here from my own life. I had my gall bladder taken out in 2012 because of an infection. I am an electrician and work outside in the sun a lot, so need to drink quite a bit of water. Since having my gall bladder removed, I get very bad heart burn depending on what I eat. To the point that even bottled spring water would give me heart burn. You can imagine the implications of that considering I'm working out in the sun all day and then don't wanna drink water because of the inevitable heart burn. So through some experimentation I have found out that if I drink alkaline instead of spring water, I don't get heart burn. After a bit of research and thinking about it, I believe it's because I have low stomach acid. Which leads the sphincter in my throat to not close properly or when it should. So the acid can splash up and get into my throat. When I drink regular tap/bottle water, it gets worse because now the acid is less viscous and more easily splashes up into my throat. However drinking alkaline water essentially neutralizes my stomach acid, and I don't get heart burn. I've also experimented with ACV, which after a few days of drinking a tablespoon and working up to 2 tablespoons after dinner, completely made my heartburn go away. The theory behind the ACV is that it raises the acid in my stomach and the natural acidity of the ACV makes the sphincter in my throat close, thus eliminating my hearth burn symptoms.

I was raised vegan and LOVE the vegan diet so much only because I never really aquired a taste for meat. However, Everytime in my life I tried to stay vegan my health suffers much. Both my daughter and I have autoimmune and the ONLY way we can live a somewhat normal life is being keto or carnivore. Anyhow, I too bought into that "eat or drink alkaline and become alkaline" so this video was VERY helpful and informative you really addressed it thoroughly. I'm glad my stomach can handle such acidity because my favorite snacks are pickled ANYTHING, raw lemons I drink from a tiny straw so they don't ruin my teeth😂🤣 and pretty much anything sour. Good information about not being able to increase the alkalinity of your blood through food or water. However I did an alkaline diet and within the first 2 months my LDL cholesterol dropped from 137 to 84, HDL went from 39 to 49 and my blood pressure went from 167/100 to 113/74. Many other things improved within my body and from what I could see through blood tests. I also didn’t get sick during that timeframe which was a year and a half. I honestly don’t even remember my allergies acting up. (So not much mucus was in my body). This is not being mentioned to counter what’s was relayed in this video, but it is just to call out some of the benefits and improvements I saw while on the Alkaline diet. I have been off it for 2 years now and everything that was good is all back to where it was prior to starting the diet. I found myself going back on an alkaline diet the past two weeks and I am already starting to feel better and see improvements in my overall health. I didn’t really eat a super unhealthy diet nor did I consume a bunch of carbs. In fact I was on a low carb diet, but a lot of meat for protein to help with my bodybuilding routine. I think we all have to do what we find works best for our own bodies. An alkaline diet just so happens to be what has proven to work best for me. I wish all of you great health and knowledge is the key to everything in life!

    After realizing how much my family was spending on bottled water I invested in a Kangen water ionizer that can produce from 2.5 to 11.5 water simultaneously. Acid water for wound care and disinfecting and oral care, alkaline for fruit and veg soak.
    Run it on 9.5 / 4.5 and cross the streams to make the most delicious drinking water along with coffee and tea.
    Since getting it I have saved the cost of the machine in bottled water, improved my family's water quality and prevented boatloads of plastic bottles from being needed.
    I think the 5k was a good investment in my entire family's health.

    • @lf7065

      Thats the thing! Dr. Berry is discussing BLOOD PH only. But, different foods DO have an alkalizing/acidifying effect on our digestive system, internal organs and glands via their inherent nutrients. This is why you can test your saliva and urine and find that their PH changes, based on what you ate or drank or even your stress level. So, other bodily fluids certainly ARE affected. 🙂

    • @lloydhlavac6807
      @lloydhlavac6807 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Lemon water will change the ph of your urine (more alkaline), not your blood. I have been drinking lemon water pretty regularly, one large glass a day at most, since I had a kidney stone several years ago.

      @@venividivici4567 Nutrients don't get "destroyed". They get absorbed in the alkaline environment of the small intestine. The acidic stomach breaks down proteins. That's what its purpose mainly is. 🙂

    • @krzysztofh6308
      @krzysztofh6308 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@venividivici4567 it is not about acidity of the food items. Your stomach is acidic for many reasons, but not to make your food acidic. Once the food leaves stomach there is neutral/alkaline environment in small intestine. Ph of stomach or intestine has nothing to do to acidity of the food that is being absorbed. If you applied your logic that stomach acid somehow destroys the alkalinity of the food how would you have different acidity after the food travels from stomach to intestine. Dr. Berry is also misleading his audience by saying that crap. Besides I have heard several times from him, that inside of your digestive tract is not even inside your body, which is true, so why now he says that acidity of your digestive tract is your acidity?
      There are alkalizing minerals that are not and cannot be destroyed/changed by stomach acid like:
      Calcium, potassium, magnesium or manganese.
      Meat only diet is low in all of them!
