I’ve lost 500 lbs following a carnivore lifestyle (yes, not a typo). I failed many diets and lap band surgery. My life was consumed by food. Carnivore has given me the “off switch” that I never had before. At 52 years I feel and look better than I did in my 20s. My doctor is amazed and happy with my transformation. People tell me it’s extreme and restrictive, 800 lbs is restrictive. I am finally free of the food addiction I had and living my best life, all thanks to the carnivore lifestyle.

I had a heart attack 6 years ago and followed the AHA dietary advice and lost a few pounds. My cardiologist wanted me to lose more weight and suggested that I could cut back on my carb intake which sent me down the Keto path and hooked me up with the low carb community. I slowly slipped into the carnivore community and have never felt better. My cardiologist knows about my diet and can only say that it seems to be working. I could care less about blood work, as long as I feel great I'm good and all blood values are based on a metabolically sick population. I' never going back to the SAD way of eating.

I’m 68 and not a complete carnivore yet. However I grew up drinking whole milk which now I use when I can’t go back to sleep and I love liverwurst. I live in Italy and found a group in sudtirol that makes it and I am so happy that I found it. I think we have to find our own path to healing. Whatever works for us works. It may not work for someone else but no can say that you have to do this or that. My gosh, we have been bombarded by the standard American diet for years. Look at what has happened!

I got mutton from a local farmer. Huge beasts, was £180 per ewe including harvest and butchering and delivered chilled ready for freezing. She was worried in case it was "too fatty"! Fat is my friend I said. I also got all the bones, fat and trimmings from the butcher and made lamb broth, rendered fat, etc. I know it is difficult for people without the contacts in the countryside, but with persistence it can be done.

Great video tackling the question of ‘how much to eat’ and the ratio of fat to protein. I have NEVER known how much of each to eat, but over the carnivore years I have come to eat twice a day until I am really full and don’t fancy any more of the same ( beef, eggs, fish and belly pork). I do not need to lose weight. I am 63 and post menopausal. Sometimes my brain wants to eat more, but I get full up too quickly😢. The fat seems to be very satisfying.

Thanks for sharing your personal carnivore info! I've been doing more strict carnivore for this last year which included increasing protein. Just had bloodwork done, and my BUN went up to 26. I'll try lowering my protein and upping my fat to get it back down to normal range. It's fascinating to learn the ins and outs of bloodwork. I also have osteoporosis though it's been stable for the last 2 years since I started keto then carnivore as well as doing weight training. Both my primary care and the endocrinologist I just saw are pushing Fosamax or Reclast. I have been resisting which is frustrating for me and for them, lol.

I eat around 120 grams of protein, which is lower than what I hear recommended, 1 gram per ideal body weight. So, I guess my body can't process that much. I'm 66, so maybe my age has something to do with it.

Ultra marathon runners might need up to 2.2g/kg to build muscle due to an obscene quantity of muscle breakdown that needs to be repaired before building any more. Muscles are built by tension sensors and not muscle tearing as once thought, and muscle damage competes for protein for building.

Interesting. Though, many people these days have more allergies in general. Studies have shown in animals that higher caloric intake than necessary will make more inflammation and so cause inflammatory responses to foods we eat. Interestingly, we can actually overcome allergies by micro doses of the proteins and by improving the dietary situation. The most common one is a small intake of raw honey causing pollen allergies to subside. It's even been done with fatal peanut allergies to full cure, in some cases.

Feedlot beef, non-free range chicken, pork raised indoors, all are deficient in potassium and magnesium. I had never had high blood pressure, genetic probably, but under 110/65 at age 78. I was overweight from the lock downs so started a keto diet. I cannot afford pastured meat and spa raised chicken, etc., although I do try to get cage free or even pastured organic chicken now. Also looking to a bit more sea food. But my blood pressure went through the roof, I had a "small" non-disabling stroke, and while in the hospital they gave me a potassium horse pill and my blood pressure had come down 40 points in about 4 hours! So I use a "light salt" that contains potassium now. I also supplement magnesium, and take a vitamin and mineral supplement--probably expensive pee, but just in case. Cattle are now raised from weaning in a feedlot in some cases these days, and if you ever watch a video of cows gobbling their feed on a feedlot you will understand that they are malnourished, which is where all that white fat comes from, e.g., mostly empty calories but cheap. Rethinking my eating right now after some bad consequences of having "done the right thing."

@@Susie462The animal are fed a potassium deficient diet. You eat the animals. You end up potassium deficient. Ditto magnesium. The fault is not the meat centered diet, it is the modern cheap way of feeding beef. I can pay $10 a pound for hamburger and get pasture raised and finished beef. Or I can go to the supermarket and pay a lot less. Given my financial position, I go to the supermarket and pay a lot less. Beef, chicken, poultry are all the same--potassium and magnesium deficient, regardless of what they were back 50 years ago. My point is if you go ketogenic you have to supplement unless you buy the pastured meat. Or eat wild caught seafood, etc. Or eat game meat. If you look at the nutrition you will see that current levels of measured vitamins and minerals in your veggies are ALL less than 40% of the 1942 figures which you will likely see on the packaging since the FDA still apparently uses the ancient numbers and you can just use those or go to the expense of measuring them yourself The tomatoes you raise in your garden are probably nutritionally supeerior to the tomatoes in any store. The deficiencies in potassium beyond a certain point cause high blood pressure. Deficient magnesium also causes problems. The potassium in your cells is very hard and expensive to measure and is an invasive procedure--cutting flesh out, etc.The potassium in your blood is only a fration of the potassium you need, and sodium is the other way around .

Equally, people who jump into high fat low carb diets after years of eating high carb rubbish foods also don't realise they may find their gallbladders start spitting out stones that were in there for decades, and they promptly end up in emergency with a gallstone attack. There are definitely some precautions to take when trying to eat this way. Provided you prepare, there seems to be many benefits. Just watch out if you are doing the diet and want to binge again on carbs for a night out. You can also hurt yourself that way by shocking your system when your pancreas has been asleep. Can also have a serious consequence! Maybe more so though for those who do extended fasts and haven't planned how to safely refeed themselves.

Thank you for being one of the very few low-carb people to acknowledge that even in the absence of carbs, glucose will be raised by overconsumption of protein. This is why I don't trust people like Dr Barry, he absolutely denies it. I listened to that chump for over a year and my glucose levels went up to Type 2 levels consistently both measured by A1C and blood glucose testing strips for which I tested religiously. Unfortunately I have to keep my protein around 90 to 120 grams a day or it will go up to T2 levels. Even if I spread it out over the day, it doesn't matter. All other markers are solid; it's just the glucose that goes up.
If anyone says eat until you are comfortably stuffed, don't listen; not everyone has those satiety signals. I have been doing this for a year and a half, and if I ate until I was comfortably stuffed, I would be a Type 2 diabetic even as a strict Carnivore, yes, it is possible and happens to a lot more people than you realize.

He might already have a video on that subject. Click on his page then click on the page’s search bar; type in electrolytes.

Increasing my stomach acids to combat silent reflux improved my mineral absorption and greatly helped my electrolyte balance . I use betaine hydrochloride

Thank you for yet another outstanding video. I don't like vegetables, never did; so a Carnivore lifestyle was easy to adopt. My problem, I LOVE sourdough bread, angel hair pasta, graham crackers, blueberries and watermelon. So, I'm kinda screwed as those things are really bad for people. I intend to eat some blueberries when it's the right season, but other things don't jazz me enough to break my carnivore lifestyle with. My 3rd of 3 videos on my YT channel deals with much of the reason WHY our medical system is the way it is, so I don't want THEM sticking so much as a toe into my medical world, except for a yearly blood panel to check my success story in following the advice of my fav Carnivore docs. I'm 5'4" and in 3 months went to a couple pounds under my high school weight, some 50 yrs ago. (120, down to 99) I'm wondering if I'm one of those very thin people that should have something, but I don't like the good carbs. I think I'm just going to try and eat more fat and occasionally have blueberries. I'm not carb or alcohol addicted. I was a light weight drinker and have a full-length mirror and am vain enough to be able to stop eating bad things. Oy!

I love sourdough too! I’m hoping I can reintroduce it sometime in the future when I’ve healed my gut(autoimmune) from decades of SAD eating.

@lindseytaylor9758 I think you have sophisticated taste buds and I'd like to compliment them on their good taste in bread. I know...... it's a grain and a carb... so I'm hesitant, but.... I'll try it and see.
Most things I have tried in this latter stage of being pure don't make me feel good. Bummer. Crossing my fingers on some truly well-made sourdough. 😳

If you like sourdough, just have some every now and then (if you can control yourself and not eat the whole loaf 😂) I'm sure there are plenty of carnivores out there with secret stashes of their favourite carb foods that they let themselves taste just to remind themselves they are not in prison. If you are determined to lose weight though, stay away for a while. The weight will come back with bread... obviously. So will all that fluid and the higher blood pressure and blood sugar. So small amounts is key. And as long as you are not reacting to it like those with inflammatory gut issues. Then you might also be better to keep your distance for a longer while. But I say, like an old lover that you can't quite lay to rest, never say never 😉

My family in Florida have been able to buy raw milk. They just have to sign a waiver I think.

Thanks for not being evangelical about it. All my measures are fine so I mostly eat meat and 2 veg with a fish or meat salad (avocado and a few leaves) at lunch. I eat nuts daily and drink coffee.
Life is made more joyful with food and I’m not going to deny myself something delicious every now and then. I make bread from scratch with no additives and have 4 slices over the weekend. I’ll have a cheesecake maybe once a month or a chocolate bar and have 2 pieces of dark chocolate every night. No alcohol and I exercise 5 times a week.
I’m happy with that and none of the above is going to knock years off my life. We all die and in the meantime I want to live a little.

16:47 There is a very important nuance in your recommendation for 'salt' intake - you state 2-3g of SODIUM CHLORIDE (aka Table Salt(-- the nice salts we are leaning into, Redmonds, Maldon etc. have around .4g of sodium per 1g of the 'salt' - so 3g of Table Salt would have around 1.3g of sodium. Too often I think folks think 'table salt' = 'sodium' when there are actually quite a few different minerals contained within.

you should avoid table salt it is full of microplastic, use something like pink himalayan

@@DruidzTV I agree, this is what I use. I use the term 'table salt' strictly for descriptive purposes.(vs Sodium vs Sodium Chloride).
