Justin M. Woodward true but the Mcdonald cashier’s job is to hand over your order and how often do they screw up? These guys are amazing to be doing this especially at their ages! The precision and stamina needed for a full set must be immense. Enjoy pros being pros! Not everyone can do this
Dr. Loomis as I said in my previous comment... I’m not shocked that he can play the solo. It’s just that he doesn’t play the solo form the album all the time. He improvises a lot he’s even talked about it. And much like us he’s human so sometimes he makes mistakes wether he improvises or not. So the fact that he nailed the solo with no major screw ups was cool.
I love Kirk's joy in playing - not just here, but in all the live shows - and all the ones I have been to, he is just always so happy! He just seems like one of those people that has life figured out.
Six months without a drop of alcohol or constant touring allowed his vocal cords to recover so well that the voice re-recordings sound WAAAAY better than they could've been otherwise. That and the fact that they were all super amped-up for these particular shows gave them a special kind of energy for the live performances
Rafael Calderon Voice re-recordings? Did he record it all again? I know this was recorded in early September, a couple of weeks before he checked into rehab, so this wouldn‘t be too surprising ..
I went to the premier of this in theater... There is some definite post production magic happening here. Don't get me wrong... There were some definite triumphs vocals, but definitely not this smooth... Also he entered rehab right after this hit theatre.
@Kuddl Muddl “live” albums more often than not contain lots of re-recorded sections because of many different reasons like missed notes, excessive ambient noise bleed, room for overall performance improvement and the like. The sound quality in the videos they’ve uploaded so far (this one, Nothing and AWMH) sounds way better than the original mix they showed in movie theatres back in September, that, the fact that they pushed back the release date six months (it was originally planned for a February release) and the band’s statements themselves that they were in the process of re recording various parts sometime ago makes me think that they indeed re recorded much of the vocal line

Well, in 1991 they were working with Michael Kamen on the black album. Cliff has already written or inspired several songs with serious classical influence. Everyone seems to forget that Metallica was called a sellout by some for “Fade to Black” as far back as 1984. They do what they want. For people worrying about the orchestra being too quiet, you have to consider that this is a TH-cam video so heavily compressed and reduced in quality compared to what a BluRay or CD can offer! I've seen the case numerous time where the sound on a live video is pretty disappointing on TH-cam but sounds awesome on a BluRay. Also I've seen S&M2 in theater and it was absolutely perfect, I'd consider myself an audiophile, even being annoying with my friends about this kind of details :p and I loved the mixing there. But what scares me is they announced that they remastered the concert for the BluRay/CD release... that's a point of worry.
I'm not an audiophile, but in the theater you don't listen in stereo, you have a bunch of speakers. It's different, right? And I agree, it was fantastic! Probably everyone will hear this in 5.1, which is much better, you will hear more instruments. Now, what you're saying may be true, but I don't even know how much it will differ from the stereo mix of the blu-ray or cd. For example, when Alter Bridge posted, here, previews of their concert with the orchestra, everyone said the same thing as you. However, on cd/dvd/blu-ray, the orchestra remained the same as in the previews, buried in the mix, much worse than this.
You define yourself an audiophile and you also think thst the work they did for the "theater version" was good? Are you drunk? I saw S&M2 and the first part was so badly mixed and fucked up within levels I was tempted to ask for a refund. Personally, I think the symphony is mixed in too quietly. If I listen really closely I can hear some very cool melodies from the strings, but they're so low and soft that they get overpowered by the guitars. Alter Bridge had a similar situation with Live at the Royal Albert Hall. On S&M, even with the heaviest songs like "Master" you could hear the entire orchestra perfectly. Still a great performance and I can't wait to get the CD!

Absolutely, they really butchered the mixing. I have been hyped for almost a year now after seein it in cinema thrice and now I am getting more and more disappoiinted...
May b that's the reason i didn't get that feel this time. Only highs in the orchestra that too the loud ones are being heard. Metallica is awesome and Metal af but the orchestra here didn't seem to fit in except where the song goes Moth Into the Flame
I wish they would play the songs "Disposable Heroes", "Fade to Black", "Orion", "Ride the Lightning", "The Unforgiven", "To Live is to Die", "Fixxer" and "Spit Out the Bone"
No matter what I love these guys and the X members. Im 40 and almost 30yrs of my life they were with me. They are like a family n nothing else matters.
THIS concert is one of the Earth shattering ones. I'm old, and I have been lucky enough to see some of my fave performers in live shows. Get the DVD of this and enjoy it. You will, of course, be measuring every other show you see against it. Be kind. I think only Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be able to match it. Very FEW groups or single performers will ever have the skill or experience to reach THIS level of profound mastery of their talents. I am SO grateful that they decided to do this NOW, while they STILL have all their physical stamina. Lars can't keep up this level of performance for much longer, neither can the others. Drumming takes a LOT out of a body, and the joints just can't do it any more. In an interview, Kirk has said that because of all the guitar playing he has done, his shoulders, back and arms have pain from the constant strain of playing. Now, go check out The Hu, Bloodywood, Maiden and my particular favorite, Nightwish. Metallica just opens the door to so many other bands and genres. Enjoy the journey!
Sandra Nelson I am old , too! And I agree with you. I have been lucky too, to see Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Metallica of course, and a few other of the ‘’old’’ heavy metal bands. Some day they will not play anymore, but their music will continue. It has been a hell of a ride all those years!
Honestly I disagree. The first S&M I thought the Orchestra was way too loud. So far from S&M2 I can hear all the instruments even the bass. Everything sounds way better than the first s&m imo and the orchestra isn't taking up 90% of all sound.
My favourite moment from this concert - James singing - Moth into the flame!!!!! BURN!!!!!
- An ENTIRE symphonic orchestra with tens of musicians
- Lars' china cymbal

0:53. 2016 james makes a small appearance
2016?
His haircut
That’s actually kinda creepy 😂
Wtf lmao
Time travel. It works!
It's nice to see the members of the orchestra actually smiling instead of being snobs. 40 years later and Metallica is still breaking barriers.
I’m so excited for the full album!
Metallica has come a long way. They were the first high-profile Napster enemies, and now they give us so much free content.
The orchestra is very quiet here. It's weird to see their bows move at certain times and not hear it.
Absolutely, they really butchered the mixing. I have been hyped for almost a year now after seein it in cinema thrice and now I am getting more and more disappoiinted...
If it's like the S&M DVD, you'll able to turn up the orchestra track yourself. Also I'm sure there will be fan mixes with more orchestra audible.
@@AtaraxiaArg Oh I didnt know that about the DVD! I only had the CD for S&M but I preordered this time, so that's good.
May b that's the reason i didn't get that feel this time. Only highs in the orchestra that too the loud ones are being heard. Metallica is awesome and Metal af but the orchestra here didn't seem to fit in except where the song goes Moth Into the Flame
I can hear them. I can even hear the inhale of the winds.
It has been long time i haven't listened to Metallica, but each time I do I'm impressed.
We are waiting for The outlaaaaaww toorrrnn!!
It was such a pleasure being here for this. Worth every penny. And then some!
Music from the Gods played by the Gods!
James Hatfield is my all time favourite rock ringer
Love you guys
I wish they would play the songs "Disposable Heroes", "Fade to Black", "Orion", "Ride the Lightning", "The Unforgiven", "To Live is to Die", "Fixxer" and "Spit Out the Bone"
To live is to die would be amazing.
@@DarrenNoFun That's right
I’m a violinist and love classical music and orchestras but I also love Metallica and metal so seeing the two genres of music collide is truly special
Did you play with Metallica at this show? Lol
@@ExWifeHaver287 Oh gosh no lol
@@varix3554 maybe on s&m 3
Never got to see it in cinemas... Damn I can't wait
Great performance 👏🤘
EPIC!

Savage!
No matter what I love these guys and the X members. Im 40 and almost 30yrs of my life they were with me. They are like a family n nothing else matters.
I'm 9 years old and I love this stuf. And I know thar songs really good.
Stay in school, kid. Your spelling and grammar are atrocious.
Maximus Max And you should grow up!
Your parents raised you right, little dude
James at 02:54 gets Robert Trujillo crazy at 02:59
Metallica will never get old!
Metallica was one of my first cassette tapes. Still love these guys to this day! They never disappoint. I’m addicted to the GOATS! 🔥
Thats how i call a perfect begininning of a day
MOTH INTO FLAME! BUUUUUUURN!
Orchestra is mixed too quietly
Sounds good to me, man!
It's perfect in my opinion!
Metallica shouldn't be allowed within 10 miles of a mixing desk in my opinion
Honestly I disagree. The first S&M I thought the Orchestra was way too loud. So far from S&M2 I can hear all the instruments even the bass. Everything sounds way better than the first s&m imo and the orchestra isn't taking up 90% of all sound.
eh. The melodic parts are sticking out. I think its more that they are just hitting highs and running charges.
YEAHHHH!!! now this is what attracts a moth
Giving this song the S&M treatment was itself worth revisiting the idea. The orchestra adds such a cool dimension.
Admittedly a strange choice for the symphony treatment, but it has its moments
The symphony is almost invisible
@@alxmnslv Lmao are you deaf
All within my hands
That lil trumpet at 0:39 sounded funny almost like an @magikmike edit
@@seanflynn146 oh my god hahahah

James looks like the lion from the wizard of oz. Lol. Metallica still kicking ass after all these decades. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Metallica is and will be the best, the best band ever!!! Love metallica from Pakistan
Can’t wait for this to release and relive this night. Most epic concert I’ve ever been to.
