Music I fail to see how the roundabouts are stupid. The last tunnel was there long before the bridge was build. The road went down to Ulvik and the ferry. People are still living down there, so they do need that road to still be there. The only other option would have been a regular intersection which of course would only create chaos as most of the traffic would turn in that intersection. Traffic lights inside a tunnel is not something you would recommend either. Same thing on the other side. The roundabout connects already existing roads to the bridge.
seen tons of bridges, tunnel, highway before (even during construction phase). This one is far my favorite! Incredible! That suspension bridge between tunnels, breathtaking tunnel entrances that leads you natural looking cave roads and amazing underground roundabout. As an engineer, I wish i was a part of this project during construction.
@@Xxxxxx-bg2ww Here is your question! How they were sure about the stability of the tunnels. I mean no water leak? Norway is a cold area. There is no reinforcement(that is what it looks like in the video)? or is there any but they look natural?
Ayki Plays, every 4th round (18 feet each) we drilled long holes (24 metres/64 mm diameter) and pumped in a thin cement mixture. It filled the faults and cracks in the rock and made a screen or an 'umbrella' preventing the water to enter the tunnels.
The Millau Bridge in France would be one I would have liked to work on, but not great with heights, have driven over that made a 200 km detour to see it . Unfortunately the safety system makes difficult to see off even as a passenger . This is amazing, I assume it’s on the road between Oslo & Bergen.
Just seeing this. How beautiful and alot of safety into the tunnels. Lights for doors to escape the tunnel. Roundabouts with perfect lighting. We learn from education and when things go wrong. To me those folks that perished in the car tunnel , their lifes were not in vain. As it brought more safety measures. Again so beautifully done
Rode this bridge this summer on my way to and from a summer job in Hardanger, and was stunned both by the underground roundabouts and the bridge itself.
A roundabout inside a tunnel, i never seen something like this before. That's a really amazing and clever solution. Maybe i will drive there in the future at one of the next Norway trips.
We've been there in 2019, fantastic bridge and the illuminated roundabouts were jaw-dropping! Also, when you dive into the northern part for the first time, hit the roundabout and then notice that you still go 8 km or so underground, before seeing the light of day - awesome. If you are there, stop at the south end! There is a big parking lot and a small walkway down to the bridge and into a pedestrian tunnel that is also nicely illuminated!
Wow! This is why i have TH-cam Premium! To see things about my world that I may never see for real, without ads running effect! "Roundabouts" under a MOUNTAIN?...WHO,DA THUNK IT! GREAT VIDEO!👍🏿

I have just seen a program on the construction of the bridge. I didn't realise there was a tunnel leading onto each end, great affect with the blue lighting at the round abouts.

Absolutely beautiful feat of engineering. Didn’t expect the underground roundabouts. WOW! I want to be there right now. Never been to Norway but from pics/film, one of the most beautiful places on earth. I noticed on the suspension bridge @ 2:50 - 2:55 there is a bicycle on the right with nobody around. No big deal. Until @ 2:58 - 3:00 there seems to be a figure in pink on the other side of the safety rails. Just an observation.
Drove on and through in July this year. In the very long tunnel section the blue light areas are stopping places for people suffering from claustrophobia. Norwegians are so ahead of us. Norway is a magical place.
Since it's a rough surface tunnel, I bet if you blow your horn, the sound of it reverberates for a haunting long time. There is a road tunnel not far from where I live in a state part. It's not long and use to have a rough rocky surface on the inside. People that drove through it liked bowing the horn to hear it reverberate. It was one of the reasons the people took a Sunday drive to the park. The tunnel did leak ground water and they had to fix that. When they did they installed smooth walls. No more reverb effect when you blow a horn. The fun was gone.
Seems like the tunnels are designed to use in case of war, to hide vehicles; army staff and locals or to destroy against incoming hostile forces. This is strategically genius in a country full of wall-mountains. Nice job lads, I also liked the scenery of bridge, I actually came from ETS2 lol I respect from Turkey, this is magnificent both design and scenery of Norway.
