I'm so glad I found this channel. You've clearly unbelievable knowledge of the core Canon but can see the positives of this series. I never went in as someone completely expecting a 100% adaptation and I think it works so far. And I genuinely liked Cortana in this ep too. She's clearly gonna become close to Chief like the games, and is already starting to doubt Halsey
Welcome! Been watching his channel forever! I wish other series’ had a channel with some this devoted while also not being biased! Halo Canon is really a gift to the Halo community as a whole!
This episode was intense.. I love Makee's assault on the corvette and how dark it was, and how her face shifted from scared girl to cold blooded murderer when the worms came out was a bone chilling and beautiful shot imo. Her and Halsey are very impressive actors. The whole creation of Cortana was fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Cortana's storyline is deeply interesting.. This show is very good!
I'm honestly so relieved for your coverage of this series. I had lowkey been dreading the series solely because of the fanbases reaction, despite every bit of forewarning and clickbait. It's nice to see a measured fan response that's critical but fair, rather than complete NMH. I do think this series is going down well with general audiences, while Halo fans flip out and I have my own doubts, non fans/casual enjoyers are enjoying it. It's a bit of a MCUification in terms of adaptation, but not a crume ir anything. In fact I've been more pleasently surprised than dissertapointed overall.
Couldn't agree more, the only thing I was dreading was the fan backlash. A friend of mine, Kate Kennedy, is playing Spartan Kai-125, and I was genuinely worried for her receiving online abuse from online warriors. That's why, like you, I love this channel, because he looks at everything objectively and also talks about the show quite optimistically, despite being an obvious Halo superfan
@@Geohillierneo Look aside from the pick hair highlights though I don't really care that Kai has that. You tell Kate that I like her Spartan Kai-125 she is a good character so far and I want more. It's mainly the story part of the show Halo fans have problems with. Also been following Canon for years he is very really good when it comes to Halo and he can be good at giving a non bias take.
@@Geohillierneo Damn being friends with someone working with such a toxic fanbase must be interesting. You let her know not everybody is like that in the community
7:36 I’m glad you mentioned this. One thing I loved about Chief is that he wasn’t the strongest, the smartest, or the most tactical. He was just an average Spartan, who kept on going. And sure he’s lucky. He always seems to make it. But luck favors perseverance. This made him special in that he wasn’t special. He was a self insert. I’m annoyed that the Chief in the show is aid to be the ‘best’, and now he’s got ‘chosen one’ syndrome with his childhood linking him to the ‘meguffin’ of the series. It’s such a cheap way to make your main character special, rather than making him special by his accomplishments. It’s just poor writing. Not even having to do with the fact that they are ignoring the lore.
I don't understand why people say he's just average. I mean, Halsey herself said he's the best spartan. I think he's considered as the most balanced spartan, more than just mediocre.
This idea gets taken too far IMO. Like yes, John is not "the best" Spartan. But also, HE WAS CLEARLY among the best even all the way back in training. He was a leader who was respected - including for his physical ability, but much more than that. To suggest that Chief isn't a Chosen One in core canon is weird revisionism based on these few lines that isn't borne out by anything in the actual canon. It's cool character building, but it's not practically any different from what's happening in the show - EXCEPT that he's a Blessed One. And we don't know how that one works yet. So.. we'll see.
Oddly enough I find myself the most interested in the story of Makee. Maybe because its entirely original, so there's no good lore to overwrite? I LOVED hearing Cortana's OG voice actor. She is so talented! She nails the emotionless professional robot voice along with a deeply personal, emotional, and human voice. Too bad Cortana didnt look that blue.
I wont lie, I really enjoyed cortana in this episode. I thought the cgi was pretty good, and having Jen do the voice really made it feel like Halo. I reckon as this show goes on its gonna feel more like the games. Just a shame they're not allowed to use the music
The irony; they were going to have the actress who plays Halsey voice Cortana, but they couldnt get her to do both Halsey AND Cortana due to schedueling...but Jen was free. A most useful coincidence.
@@KillerOrca While I believe she could totally play Cortana, Cortana physically is meant to look like a younger version of Halsey and I think this route was better in the end.
That’s my problem though, I wish it wasn’t Jen. I had just convinced myself that this was an alternate universe, not “our halo” and just something completely separate from the games, then I hear Jen’s voice..
I wonder if we'll see that elite kaidon from the first two episodes again. I heard somewhere that a script leak said that he was Thel Vadamee, but I'm not 100% certain. If it ends up not being him, I do hope that we see him in the future. I'm guessing that at the latest, season 2 is where we get to see them reach the Halo ring, and we could potentially see Vadamee in play overseeing the Covenant operation there while giving him more to do in these events than Halo CE did (since he obviously hadn't existed then). A lot of people are worried that Makee is replacing him, but I'm not going to completely rule him out yet since there's still room to put him into the story.
I really, REALLY hope the Flood don't appear in the next episode. It's far too early. The Covenant have to be solidified as the apparent supreme threat before the story drops the bombshell that there's something even worse than the Covenant out there. The Flood firmly need to be rooted in season two at the earliest, preferably in the latter half of that season.
I think there's room for the flood earlier than that. I wouldn't mind seeing the results of their work or even just teases of their presence. But yea, I wouldn't want a full flood reveal yet.
@@Cyrribrae i think its gonna be next episode, johns home planet for say. what's this plague they are talking about? and why was it so bad an entire planet needed to be quarantined and suffocated of life? it sounds like they are describing the flood while (in story) not knowing what it is yet. and thats where cortana will be able to explain its Oregon
@@JayDawgDrummer After reading the first book I found out Halsey and UNSC actually lie to the children saying a plague is the cause of why they can’t see their parents anymore, however it is not true. This episode actually has a lot of ties of the early chapters of fall of reach!
To add to the Mamore events in Core Canon, Spartan II’s were deployed to the planet in 2526, and Spartan III Alpha Company seemingly deployed en-masse to the planet as their first operation to put down a major Insurrectionist uprising. I’m “glad” Mamore actually managed to kill a Spartan, considering I think they’ve been hit by almost every program except ORION including (technically) two of the three Spartan III companies, but honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if ORION soldiers deployed there as well.
Honestly, with how Kai has been acting, I wonder if she's meant to be a stand in for Kelly or Linda, my guess is Linda given she falls into the same role as a sniper. Kelly and John have an extremely close sibling relationship, and Linda has shown to both be very protective and affectionate towards John, both in the EU and in Halo 5 when she moves up to put herself between John and Cortana. Eric Nylund did seem to hint at some sort of romantic feelings between the two in First Strike. Given her similarities to Linda In appearance, role, and personality, and the fact that she seems to be the only one of the other members of silver team to display a significant amount of emotion and worry for John, It makes me wonder if they are setting up a subplot for the two.
I love these breakdowns and always enjoy them after the show. I also loved Halsey and Cortana in this episode. It is such a treat to have Jen voicing Cortana.
Week before Halo started..... "I wonder if we'll see Master Chief without his helmet, i can't get enough of him!" After Episode 3 :- "Yeah I've seen more than i ever wanted to see of him now!"
Always looking forwards to your recap, because you and your audience seem to be the only ones that don't irrationally hate the show for any deviation to a canon it's not part of
What about the ones who rationally hate the show for being littered with amateur writing, subplots no one cares about, characters being wildly misinterpreted and mischaracterized, the core themes of Halo being absent and replaced with an emphasis on "character drama" that no one wanted?
@@ReclaimerX22 And just the deviations from the Canon, are only for plot convince and forced drama. Take the whole "erased their memory" stuff. That change was beyond unnecessary because you can just drop a stone and hit something to resent Dr. Halsey for. Dr Halsey in the core Canon knew lieing to the Spartans was basicly a death sentence. Why give them any more reason to hate her. It's just to make more drama than nessassary.
Having never played Halo, I was leery watching a channel named Halo Canon for obvious reasons, but I like breakdowns of series episodes and I'm glad I tuned in. Thanks for your balanced and in-depth videos!
I think the best way to watch the Halo TV series is to forget that it is halo and approach it from the direction of it being a completely different franchise that you've never seen before.
One of the things that made MC what he is in the true lore was the fact that (when we first got to know him) he was cold and aloof. Not acting like a normal person with emotions and connections. That actually made him "relatable" as a character who was "made" to be humanity's sword and shield. It's through his experiences fighting the covenant, partnering up with Cortana, learning more about the Forerunners/Covenant/Reclaimers, etc. that we see his change. Same with Halsey, Cortana, etc. they've altered just for their "creative expression" by inventing this silver timeline. Everything feels rushed, order of events don't make much sense, not much backstory to be seen when everything is told as exposition, etc. The game or true lore version of MC, I would believe that he would be truly capable of fighting to defend humanity. This TV series version where he's already suffering from confusion with emotions, memories, etc. looks like someone who may end up doing something unreliable at a crucial moment.
8:00 Tbf, i think 343 in general is forgetting about the whole "John is not the choosen one, he's just the one who rise when we need a hero". They're really making it seems like 117 is literally the only human soilder capable of doing major progress during the wars of humanity.
@Halo Canon, John 117 was "The Best". John 117 and Noble 6, were the only 2 Spartans Labeled "Hyper Lethal"! Can't get better than that. Great video...as usual!
@@KillerOrca, I love the Halo Lore, when Installation00 and Halo Canon does it. What's the title of Halo Canons video, if you remember it? I'll watch it again, as I'm sure I've seen it. I'll look anyway, still, if you find it 1st, put it in the comment section, thanks.
The coin was NOT a unsc coin in the cannon books. It was a rare no longer made quarter from our timeline, making it more special. Than just a stupid unsc mass made, currently circulated coin.
I’m loving this show! Sure it’s not exactly like it was in the games and canon but it’s awesome to see the humans before the fall of reach I just keep thinking all these people are going to die soon a true tragedy
Doesn't John have a forerunner seed (Gea) within him? Wouldn't that imply, on some level, he is the "chosen" one? Or at the very least, among the chosen having meeting the Forerunner criteria to meet the Gea?
Having a geas is very common among Humans in core-canon, as is the ability to interact with Forerunner tech. The TV series apparently made it rarer for the Silver Timeline.
@@HaloCanon true, but how many are single-handedly called out by the librarian. Recognized by the forerunner technology as a reclaimer, and single out for advanced evolution against the didact?
@@Phewy The Chief was only called out by the Librarian because he was the one who showed up. Theoretically, any Human, or even any Spartan, could have fulfill the role. His "advanced evolution" too was just the Librarian unlocking a part of his genetics that should be present in almost all Humans. Beyond that, almost every Human is recognized as a Reclaimer. Before the Chief, 343 Guilty Spark recruited another Human to retrieve the Index; in Halo 2, Tartarus is able to force Miranda Keyes to activate Halo; same with Truth using Johnson to activate the rings in H3.
Hands down the best halo channel. One who criticizes the show constructively when acceptable and still enjoys the show and knows a lot of the core canon. Love your work! Subscribed! Episode 3 was good, but I hope they start picking up the action in episode 4. This is the second non action episode and I feel like we need to regain some of that momentum that episode 1 had.
Master Chief cutting an emotional inhibitor out of his butt so he could listen to violin music is literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on my television ever. Ever! Anyone who calls this a good show isn’t a real Halo fan.
It's really disappointing of how much they feel they need to change the silver timeline from the original timeline. Original timeline is so good and has so much depth at the creators the TV show can use
At least this episode showed the Silver Timeline follows *some* aspect of the Cole Protocol despite the first episode's direct travel routes to Reach including a captured Covenant ship, and the first time the series has hinted at the other species in the Covenant. Miranda mentions "Grunts are chatty" and then the Hunters making an appearance.
I feel like everything in the show I thought would suck pre-release has ended up winning me over in mere seconds. I thought Makee sounded extremely stupid when they first announced the character, but then I ended up loving her backstory and character overall, though I’ll admit I have a slight bias since the Sangheili are my favorite fictional race and I loved seeing them in a bit of a heroic light here. I thought that bit was an excellent subversion of the first episode. And then there’s Cortana’s design. I thought it looked really off in the trailers, but then in the final show she just looks like she’d give the best hugs and I love it. Her character in general was wonderful here. And I’m just loving John’s story of self-discovery. Pablo Schreiber’s performance has been consistently excellent and I really adore his portrayal here. His performance has really embodied everything that made core canon John my favorite character ever. I was expecting this show to be a flop, but instead I’ve adored every second. I’m blown away by how much heart and soul it has, and how obvious its love for the franchise is. This show has been all smiles for me and I’m so glad for that.

@@thaneros It’s like they aren’t staying true to the books, comics, and video games and you’re ignoring that because some people worship anything that has the word “Halo” in it. Master Chief doesn’t feel like Master Chief. He had emotional outbursts and whines that Cortana is around. This show is starting to be so cliche. Let me guess, he starts to like and need her after having this temper tantrum about her. Fuck this show.
I always considered John a chosen one-esque, in core cannon Cortana chose him. Guilty spark renown comment in Halo 3 telling John he is the reclaimer, he is forerunner. Just doesnt feel foreign.
Soren is definitely my favorite character in this show so far. I really hope they carry over his character from this show to the core canon and canonize his survival
My thoughts were that the reach for life program accidently terraformed planets that were barren due to having a flood infestation previously and the neighboring halo ring fired and wiped out all life in that area. The reason an infection came back could have been that flood spores in the deepest parts of the world maybe formed something like an endospore and waited for better conditions to come back. That would honestly be an interesting idea imo
I thought it was a great episode that pulled a lot from canon. Thank you for keeping a mostly positive perspective. Greatly appreciated considering how Stans on social media behave.
The neural Implant was definitely inspiration from Red vs Blue, I was actually waiting for the antigravity thing to activate till I remembered they were doing this on Reach still and not space… So close to rvb being canon in silver timeline Also, I can still never take the Mark V serious… a certain somebody left his name on that helmet
I think they really improved Cortana's appearance in this one. That being said, please don't stop doing this breakdowns! I look forward to them every week!
Fun fact: Oban is a great smoky whisky from the Islay region of Scotland-probably just a coincidence but it's also fun b/c the actor who plays Makee is Irish!
I’m a newbie. I’ve never played the games and know nothing about the Chief or the Halo world. I’ve enjoyed the show. So much so that I’ve been on the hunt for more information. It has been surprising to see the vitriol that people familiar with the game have for the show. I’m glad I finally found a site that is knowledgeable but is also trying to provide information in a fair and balanced way without just screaming it sucks.
I actually like the direction the show is going. It’s really refreshing and it gives us, “oh shit, I can’t wait for the next episode” type of vibe. Tho I ain’t a die hard/ veteran fan of halo, I can see why people do not like the show. After 20 years of knowing a franchise, you would think it’ll properly be implemented to a show in “their liking”(aka those halo fans). Obliviously there are some flaws in the show that I dislike, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m actually loving the Insurgents story as well. It shows the dark side of the UNSC and how mistreatment still affects the universe
The Halo fandoms expereincing what happened when Disney bought Star Wars, only this time the core canon (what would be Legends in Star Wars now) is uneffected and the new stuff is just its own thing.
The show wasn't made for the fans....it was made to repulse d Fans....if u don't know much about or weren't so invested in the game or books well then it's for u.... Coz anybody who has good knowledge about this shit would vomit watching this crap....and Halo Canon might act like he is enjoying it....but you people forget this is a business for him he has to pretend like he enjoys it so he can relate with casual fans like u....I know for a fact that someone with as much knowledge as him can't enjoy this garbage
The episode was ok. But the one thing that I was completely lost for words at was a Naked Master chief in all his birthday suit glory. I'm never going to look at him the same way ever again!
Funny, it seems I can do a better job at differentiating from John from the games as to Silver Canon's Master Cheeks.... Asster Chief.......? Okay, I'm done.
I love this show so far, I’ve been in desperate need of new sci-fi. I played Halo 1-3 when they first came out with my brother but that’s it. My brother has played every game, read every book, knows everything. So hearing him talk about Halo stuff is fun but sometimes confusing because there’s sooo much of it. I found your channel while browsing, then he actually sent me a video after ep 2 and they’ve helped me understand a lot, point out things I’ve missed. I think my biggest complaint about the show if I had to name one is I want the music from the games.
NO ONE ELSE HAS NOTICED THIS, There is a Halo 3 Master Chief suit in Halseys lab when Cortana appears for the first time, it is to the left of the main monitor above the bed/desk. Its from halo 3 because of the suit design and it doesn't have a 117 on the left-breastplate, that my friends is the true Mk 6... (not that i dislike the infinite mk 6 by any means)
11:07 This could be Bocce like someone mentioned. But considering it's playing field in the show being some type of sand, I thought it resembles closely to a game that countries in the SEA play (Singapore, Malaysia and maybe some others) It's called Goli or Marbles and they're played mostly on sand areas albeit having smaller sized balls.
Thanks so much for giving the show a fair shake. Many other Halo channels are doing exactly what I feared and bashing it out of hand. I love core cannon, but am enjoying the show and its alternate timeline. Two things: 1) I liked how the Lekgolo looked, but I really loved how they sounded. Heavy, thick and strong. Much better than in Nightfall even giving some leeway for age. 2) If someone just played the Halo games and never looked at any other medium they could totally think Master Chief was a “Chosen One”. Cortana chose him above all others, NPCs in the game acted as if he was the only Spartan, and he was “The” Demon. We didn’t even see another Spartan until Reach. I agree this isn’t great for the Silver timeline, but I think it is a forgivable plot device for new-to-Halo viewers.
Right, even in the extended universe, using just those few lines from Cortana/Halsey to suggest that John isn't a Chosen One is.. not the only valid interpretation. Man.. I don't think that just any other spartan would have pulled off his feats in the games. Besides, at the end of the day, he couldn't have done 3/4 the things he did without Cortana - and he was, quite literally, chosen (by both Halsey and Cortana) to carry her. What else are we supposed to call him?
@@ReclaimerX22 because halo canon and people like greenskull are able to criticize the show for things they don't like without hating the show simply because it exists. And it's not even like they don't have plenty of criticism too! Lol. You wanna know the real reason why? Because it's miserable being constantly upset about the things we love. Because when you go in with a garbage attitude all you'll see is garbage, and because there is some legitimately awesome stuff that is getting overlooked in the noise.
@@gucci1131 agreed, her current stark military ponytail is clearly at some point changed to that more personalized pink streak style indicating some independence. I hope in general Silver Team all remove their chips and get a little more flavor as a team under Chief.
The entire creation of Cortana was horrifying to me. I was very disturbed at how Halley’s clone was apparently emotionless, and only interested in the status of things. I guess she knew she was going to become Cortana so it wasn’t really like dying. The disposal of the body… man what an inhuman process. The actress playing Halsey is excellent. I could have watch the surreal conversation between Halsey and her clone go on for an entire episode. The canon babies need to stop whining and just watch this show.
Yea the Halsey v Halsey conversation was wild. She was resigned to her fate, but also.. poking the bear. And it was great seeing McElhone go through those emotions of how to rationalize something to your past self who kinda knew better (but clearly not enough).. That whole sequence was wild. Some really great actors in this show, for sure.
Master Chief cutting an emotional inhibitor out of his butt so he could listen to violin music is literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on my television ever. Ever! Anyone who calls this a good show isn’t a real Halo fan.
Despite what the canon lore might say John is the player character right? So he has infinite lives. He doesn't have just one life like the rest of the characters in game. He has access to the internet so he can learn what's the best strategy to beat a tuff area or boss. The guy goes through the games like a one man army mowing down thousands of bad guys. If anything the chosen one thing is underselling the characters abilities.
Not sure why I didn’t get the notification for this video until now 🤔. Damn it YT! 😂 Fantastic episode breakdown like always. This episode definitely gave some Kilo 5 Halsey vibes…. And I sincerely hate what Travis did with that trilogy! With that said, while I really enjoy John’s new found humanity, so far Soren and Makee are my favorite characters. Not sure if it’s because they not present in core canon (Soren post defection) or because the actors are crushing their performances. Also Cortana surprisingly looked better than I thought from the trailer.
I'm really enjoying the story of the halo's series. The only thing I want is more confrontation between the spartans and covenants and I hope the episodes foward it happen.
I really don't get the hate for the series. Its almost as if the video game fanbois don't get its NOT Core Cannon. And there is nothing wrong with that.
So you're telling me you've seen allllllll the valid criticism of this show, and you're somehow managing to reduce all that in your mind to "I don't like it cause it's different!" ? Seriously? 🤦🏻♂️
@@EvilMerlin no, it's not. You can tell a new interpretation of the same story and still have it be good as long as you follow 2 rules: 1) if you're going to change things, make the changes good/worth it. Changes should add to the story, not detract from it. And 2) get the "soul" of the property right. This show has done neither. The changes to Chief's character and backstory make him more into a victim than a hero. The show made him into a mindless drone who is manipulated into fighting into fighting for the UNSC rather than a hero who knows the truth about what was done to him from the start, but accepted it as necessary and fought because he believed it was right. Halsey was never a liar. Keyes was a brilliant naval tactician and war hero, but all he's done so far is stand around and talk. Miranda is portrayed like a whiny idealist with mommy issues rather than the badass she should be. Makee is just a human replacement for the Arbiter so they can cannibalize his story arc and save money on cgi. And none of the themes of Halo are present either. Again, you can change plot elements and details while still maintaining the "soul" of what Halo is: desperation; humanity with their backs up against the wall, hunted down and ruthlessly exterminated by a seemingly insurmountable threat, and the stories of bravery and courage of both extraordinary and ordinary people fighting for survival against all odds. You know what's literally the furthest thing from my mind when I think "Halo;" Character drama, quests for identity, rapey scientists, and a teenage girl fighting a rebellion against human tyrants. The show is focusing FAR too much on human-on-human conflict, subplots no one cares about, and is treating the Covenant like some minor background threat. It's not just that it's *different* from core canon; it's actively *worse.* It can be different and still be good, but this isn't in the slightest. And on top of all of that, the show is just littered with bad, amateur writing that shouldn't be acceptable in *any* show. It's all tell and no show, which is the number one basic rule of scriptwriting. You can enjoy it if you want, but don't act all condescending towards people who have legitimate gripes with it outside of it just being "different."
Im a halo fan, and i find this show pretty good. Sure its not the same Master chief but they go pretty deep into the psychology and how everyone would really react in this situation.
Average that succeeds is not average. Many that that should pass through some of the military's toughest schools do not, while mere average troops do. At 5'11" and 185, I was never a "super soldier" but managed to pass airborne, ranger, and sniper courses.
The commander who got killed by Makee, looked and acted more like Keyes than the Keyes we got in this show, and I wonder who does Makee's hair on High Charity? 😂
I kinda like the fact that Reclaimers arent the entire species and only a few select people since it can connect them in a certain way and you dont need some random human in order to activate Forerunner artifacts like Johnson in Halo 3 or that field medic in Infinite who activated the Harbinger’s ceylex though this is my take and you can interpretate this on ur own
That's kinda how it was in core canon as well, albiet the silver canon is even more rare. It's all based on the fact (and my theory in the silver canon) that humans to interact with special/specific Forerunner tech/installations, you need a genesong. Glassman from H4 Spartan Ops couldn't activate the Librarian's AI, so Jul M'dama had to work with Halsey to get the "Librarian's gift."
@@soulknight6644 I'm not criticizing your interpretation, I'm criticizing the show. Because of this seemingly small change they made (not all humans being Reclaimers), the human-Covenant war would've never even started. The whole reason they started exterminating humans was because the prophets didn't want their people finding out that humanity were the Reclaimers and their whole religion was a lie.

Chosen One complexes of any kind are lame. Doesnt matter the series or why.
It's cool character building, but it's not practically any different from what's happening in the show - EXCEPT
that he's a Blessed One.
It’s odd as hell though she doesn’t have the same voice as tv Halsey. It’s nice to have the same voice from the game but doesn’t make sense
@@Daftanemone it was because of time constraints
@@Daftanemone doesn't matter that it doesn't make sense, it atleast feels like Halo in this show that otherwise feels very less Halo
Also pretty cute, idk why but i really like the cgi and make up they did on her to make her look like something made in a computer
@@hotch4421 It is most fitting in terms of the lore I agree.
I would be surprised if they did show up considering we arent even to the ring yet.
@@chasecotton4685 awesome! good to know thanks!
Or both like a combo of the 2
I love these breakdowns and always enjoy them after the show. I also loved Halsey and Cortana in this episode. It is such a treat to have Jen voicing Cortana.
Week before Halo started.....
"I wonder if we'll see Master Chief without his helmet, i can't get enough of him!"

You’re an island of level-headed sanity in an ocean of rage.
@@ReclaimerX22 In that case I respectfully disagree
@@ReclaimerX22 And just the deviations from the Canon, are only for plot convince and forced drama. Take the whole "erased their memory" stuff. That change was beyond unnecessary because you can just drop a stone and hit something to resent Dr. Halsey for.
Dr Halsey in the core Canon knew lieing to the Spartans was basicly a death sentence. Why give them any more reason to hate her. It's just to make more drama than nessassary.
Cortana is still bio-digital jazz, man.

I think the best way to watch the Halo TV series is to forget that it is halo and approach it from the direction of it being a completely different franchise that you've never seen before.
These videos are always just so darn good
The neuro electri imaging is more about cortana being able to present herself via Chief rather than just smart AI with a human interface presentation
@Halo Canon,
John 117 was "The Best".
John 117 and Noble 6, were the only 2 Spartans Labeled "Hyper Lethal"! Can't get better than that.

I’m loving this show! Sure it’s not exactly like it was in the games and canon but it’s awesome to see the humans before the fall of reach I just keep thinking all these people are going to die soon a true tragedy
I believe for Binterall's moon, that’s a "None" not the name of its moon, so it doesn’t have one none it have none.

Thank you for making the show watchable.

Master Chief is special . There’s a reason that he is known as “ DEMON” by his enemies.
Alot of spartans are known as demons

It’s like they aren’t staying true to the books, comics, and video games and you’re ignoring that because some people worship anything that has the word “Halo” in it.

Core-canon leaves his fate open, so he could definitely return any time 343 desires!
The side characters are actually good it’s just their approach of how they are fleshing out Master Chief’s background and character is bad.
11:07 The Marines might be playing “boules”
My thoughts were that the reach for life program accidently terraformed planets that were barren due to having a flood infestation previously and the neighboring halo ring fired and wiped out all life in that area. The reason an infection came back could have been that flood spores in the deepest parts of the world maybe formed something like an endospore and waited for better conditions to come back. That would honestly be an interesting idea imo
All these details! I continue to be impressed!
I thought it was a great episode that pulled a lot from canon. Thank you for keeping a mostly positive perspective. Greatly appreciated considering how Stans on social media behave.
The neural Implant was definitely inspiration from Red vs Blue, I was actually waiting for the antigravity thing to activate till I remembered they were doing this on Reach still and not space…
So close to rvb being canon in silver timeline
Also, I can still never take the Mark V serious… a certain somebody left his name on that helmet
I think they really improved Cortana's appearance in this one. That being said, please don't stop doing this breakdowns! I look forward to them every week!

A version of it perhaps, yeah. It wasn't easy to get a good shot of the ball itself, sadly.
6:16: "Makes us whole, Halsey"

Awesome breakdown!
To be honest this show is growing on me
Thanks so much for giving the show a fair shake. Many other Halo channels are doing exactly what I feared and bashing it out of hand. I love core cannon, but am enjoying the show and its alternate timeline.
Two things:
1) I liked how the Lekgolo looked, but I really loved how they sounded.
How do you look at all the criticism this show is getting, and just handwave it all away as "out of hand?"
My guess is the other Spartan already removed her balance chip
in the new trailer it looks like Kai got rid of hers too
@@gucci1131 agreed, her current stark military ponytail is clearly at some point changed to that more personalized pink streak style indicating some independence.

Idk I think she was terrified her heart rate was spiked before she died.

No, we shall complain because the show has annoying things to complain about! Thou cannot stop us!
Damn it YT! 😂
Fantastic episode breakdown like always.
Out of curiosity, are there any parallels to emotion-suppression in the core canon?
My first thought when clone Halsey dropped, "Weirdest deep fryer ever"
When she asks, "Will it hurt?", he says, "Oh, yes!" in a very creepy way.
Seriously? 🤦🏻♂️
@@ReclaimerX22 Because that is EXACTLY why most people on TH-cam don't like it. Because its NOT the story of Halo from the Video Games.

Average that succeeds is not average. Many that that should pass through some of the military's toughest schools do not, while mere average troops do. At 5'11" and 185, I was never a "super soldier" but managed to pass airborne, ranger, and sniper courses.
Personally I don't think its a great Halo show, but as just a show I'm really enjoying it
The commander who got killed by Makee, looked and acted more like Keyes than the Keyes we got in this show, and I wonder who does Makee's hair on High Charity?
Except if that's the case, there's no reason for the human-Covenant war to even happen in the first place
its just my interpretation on the Silver Timeline since its non-canon, anything can happen lmao
Man I hope the "chosen one" thing just gets flip on one of the rings by a guilty spark or a forrunner ai watching the halo telling john that whatever he has been told was a warning. A warning about the flood
Why do you mirror shots from this series and the others in your breakdown videos? It's odd seeing text backwards in the scenes you showcase
To avoid copyright claims. While I'm using clips within fair-use guidelines, it still helps to flip clips to avoid unnecessary headaches.
Chiefs dump truck ass made this episode S tier
The more i learn about the silver timeline the less I like it to be honest i never had high hopes
7:30 i dont know why or if its considered core cannon or even an argument to this but wouldnt the fall of reach animated movie contradict that or am i far on right field with this one?
The animated TFOR has a lot of oddities, so I generally consider it a lower tier of canon.
@@HaloCanon episode 4. 31:25 forward the show gives a recreation of the scene i was referring to in TFOR animated. It just blew my mind.
Its like this TV show was made for Halo Cannon just to breakdown
Im a huge fan of halo, I have been for a long time. I like the TV show and like many I was afrade to even like this show because of the fan base reaction. But I am glad that halo canon gives a far but logical review of this show and glad to also see thag the changes didn't bother him that much im glad there are halo fans who think this show is good glad im not alone. Halo canon thank you agein for well being awsome
I think Kai is gonna have a dispute with John where she thinks that she is more qualified than him to be incharge
out of all the Halo youtubers, you seem to be the one that is more tolerant to the changes. a lot of others are not.
The game the marines are playing is very similar to "la petanca" a tradicional spanish game
I miss the way cortana looked in halo 2 and 4 also chief didnt have his neural lace and pretty weird how they just injected cortana nanites into chief and placed a searing hot chip in his brain lol im glad jen taylor is the voice actor and im gonna be honest, this show is realy hard to watch for me, i probably wont finish the season
Isn’t Chief definitively above average in core cannon? I remember people remarking that he’s the best of the best, and the whole “hyper lethal” moniker.
Yes. As Ian says, he's not the peak in anything. But.. the show isn't really saying that he is, either. Almost no one in core canon would say MC wasn't the "best". How is that different from his portrayal here?
The "hyper-lethal" thing was retconned some years back. All Spartans are now considered hyper-lethal.
