- Remember when there were more than two football games a year?
Let's take you back to the glory days of the PS1, where there were a plethera of options for fans of the beautiful game.
Actua Soccer, This Is Football, Goal Storm.. so many classic games, that have sadly been lost to time. Do you remember any?

Libero Grande was a great football game on ps1
Olympic soccer with Alan Green classic commentary.
Ronaldo V- football was a good game.
I owned Actual Soccer, I always wanted to play as Shearer.
Wow, no mention of Libero Grande?!?!?
Notable mentions to, WLS, Onside Soccer and All Star Soccer
UEFA Champions League was a game I enjoyed.
Loved Viva Football back in the day. If they ever remake it with a PES or FIFA engine I’ll buy it and try and win the World Cup with Brazil ‘82 and England ‘86.
Here's hoping!!!
I had Viva Football on the PC. Played it with a 3d accelerator card so it looked really nice (for the time) too. I had a damn good time with it. Loved all the classic teams and scenarios. Not the absolute best but very playable and definitely unique.
@@retromuel How did you manage to score in that game. Sometimes your players would miss while standing on the goal line. I could never predict where my shot would go to. Is your experience similar? I loved that game for all the playability and graphics and totally hated it for the gameplay.
@@abdelkaderelbrazi To be honest it's so long ago that I'm struggling to remember. I believe it was the same (or very similar) engine as UEFA Striker on Dreamcast (and PS1/PC?) which did have some slightly odd physics but was also quite fun. I seem to remember sort of holding down the shoot button for a loooong time while holding up/down on the d-pad for maximum shot power. I'll have to find a copy and give it a whirl on my retro pc and then get back to you!
@@retromuel Thank you for your answer. I never held down the shoot button. Maybe that's what I should have done...
Good luck with your retro PC!
5:27 Puma Street Soccer, Michael Owen's WLS / Uefa Champions League, Uefa Challenge, European Super League, Fa Premier League Manager, Lma Manager, Winning Eleven/ISS...
Lma manager was mentioned
Loved this, played so many of these, and so many missing games too. I was deep into the Actua Soccer series.
Also ISS was Konami first football game in 94, goal storm was in 95!
Puma Street Soccer was a hidden gem
Not only did you miss one, you missed the best one. Sensible soccer!
Libero Grande is one worth adding to the list
I laughed out loud when I heard the ‘best PlayStation game of all time’ thing.
i went through a lot of those games recently on the steam deck via emulation, and many, especially the KONAMI ones hold up quite well.
ISS will always be my fav
Three Lions, Actua Soccer.
onside soccer. great higgledy piggledy game
Three Lions! I thrashed England as Scotland all the time XD
Onside soccer
"Libero Grande" had a nice proposition for the time.
Michael Owen world league soccer
I must have played Fifa 98 a thousand times even years after newer Fifa games came out lol
The best game i played was viva football but also loved actua soccer premier manager was the manager series on ps1
Bomba98, many haven't heard of this game. I think it was released only in Italy,France and Spain. Quite rare game, even Google doesn't know much about it.
I played almost every of them years ago ❤
Wow I never heard for Viva Football, sounds very interesting
the gameplay is awful though
здорово,юность вспомнилась,сейчас таких ощущений ни от одной новой футбольной игры нет🥲Спасибо))
You forgot Onside which has Schmeichel on the front cover.
I'm trying to remember a footy game for PS1 or PS2. I played a demo of it back in the day. You had to use the left joystick and move the cursor to aim shots and long passes. I remember it quite fiddly, so I never bought it. Any ideas?
I'm also trying to find a lost ps1 game. All I remember is you could play in like a courtyard type thing and you could play as lots of international teams, my favourite being Germany only because the narrator would shout 'wunderbar' at every goal which i found funny
I am curious as to which Pro Evolution that is at the beginning as I have one called: ISS PRO EVOLUTION 2 (SLES 03321) and another called Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (SLES 03946) I assume it's the first but that was released way before the latter, and due to being a late release probably the last ISS on the system, I am wondering of the 2 which one actually was the best game. Both are pretty much identical.
FIFA or eFootball*
I remember TIF2 from demo disc.
Soccer 97 the king of all football games
Wasn't there a champions league licensed game of the 98/99 season incl. retro teams?
I remember playing a Uefa game at a friends house on his Dreamcast was 99/00 though. looked good played shit.
Yeah I had this... th-cam.com/video/-CB6j9bIIog/w-d-xo.html
Nobody beating me in PlayStation 1 soccer ...absolutely nobody
i wouldn't call some of these forgotten... some of them did catch some attention back in the day, even if in retrospect they weren't as fun or intense. besides, the ISS Pro Evo games are PES, yes, even under an ever-so-slightly different name.
out of all football/soccer games i played i think i played fifa and pes the least lol :D
i remember i had soccer game for ps1 but idk which one they all look similar it was probably winning eleven 2000 and i played a lot of sega virtua pro football game on ps2 cuz i didnt have any other soccer game i mean i had fifa 2008 but it wasnt working and i got pes 2008 much later
adidas power soccer can be played in two players?
1998 World cup game produced in 2001 great effort!
You missed Soccer '97 most hilarious commentary ever
Anybody remember a soccer game that had commercials at halftime?!
world wide soccer,...ps 1...😬🙂😲🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇷🇴🇲🇽⚽
Three lions
PES ❤
does anyone remember a game for ps1 called foul football where you could punch and kick your opponents, i remember it so vividly but cant find anything about it online.
Do you mean the game Red Card for ps2?
This is football was impossible to score on, premier league stars get stars and buy players system was pretty forward thinking but LMA was king for me .
Oh my god. Ok. Forgotten Football Games. ISS Pro Evolution 2? No one will have forgotten this due to how GOOD it was! You have dropped the ball (pun intended) big style here!
Oh and also this was the last in that series from Konami on PS1? I am afraid you are wrong. PES 1 and PES 2 BOTH saw releases on the PS1 as well as the PS2!
World Cup 98 is anything but forgotten?! how can you even suggest that with how popular it was?
Premier League Stars I will give you that as it wasn't too popular.
Namco soccer:prime goal & olympic soccer
Adidas power soccer 97 & Euro 2000. Good thing was with Euro 2000 you could play a full 90 min match
Did you ever do that?? I think we used to play 'first to 10' or something like that
@@PlayStationMemories me and my friend would play the full 90 minute game. The score line would be crazy. And if we ever got bored we would start getting players sent off by fouling the goalkeeper. Instant red card. One time another friend who couldn't really play the game was playing Euro 2000 with my friend and me and my friend decided to let our other friend 'win' and they played a full 90 minute game. It got to 89:30 and I "deliberately fell" down in front of the playstation and pressed reset 🤣🤣🤣
@@mikewatson2055 I really miss slide tackling the goalkeeper for no reason at all!
So much misinformation in this video.
You gotta try UEFA Challenge and European Super League.
Goal storm isn’t the first football game Konami made. International superstar soccer came out before it on the Super Nintendo
Three Lions, All Star Soccer.
I think we got all of 1 of these (Goal Storm) in the US.
Anyone remember the pretty hilarious All Star Soccer?
You could have added the three lions game.
Yes you missed Peter schemchel football
Where's Tecmo Super Shot Soccer? It's famous because it has Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer team in there
Very good shout!!
You missed Super Match Soccer.
Who remembers the game Onside?
Michael Owens game!!
Does the ps1 game The Mission counts?
Now that IS obscure!
The best are
Fifa 99 and 2000
Iss 2 .
Winning eleven 3 is the best football game ever made.
Goal storm is how PES is made
Premier Manager 98 was the best
World Cup 98 from 2001 ?
I dont think so. Its made in 98 or months before
Uefa Challenge was simply trash. The players would not turn properly. The only disc Ive ever smashed up intentionally.
Why smash it up?! Just trade it in!
@@PlayStationMemories if you find a time machine that enables you to give 10 year old me that advice, DO let me know 😉
This guy clearly likes Manchester
As a kid I loved to play "Fifa 98 - Road To Worldcup", it had so much content for that time, tons of national and international teams, even many nations leagues and their teams and you could play weird setups like FC Schalke 04 the national team vs the international team of Spain and such..and it had hall football as an option as well! You could set weather, daytime, stadium and whatnot....pretty much like Sensible Soccer, only technically highly advanced. A critic one COULD bring up though is that it was rather on the very arcade-y site of things and less a simulation, but well, that's up to taste I'd say, in my opinion the really easy "Pick up and Play"-stile made the game so damn accessible.
Only thing that was missing to make it perfect would have been a womens league, but back in 1998 hardly anybody talked or know about that there even WAS womens football.
Loooool "Top 10 forgotten ps1 football games" starts with the premier football series on the ps1 "iss pro evo" is the opposite of forgotten it was arguably more popular than fifa!
You forgot football kingdom
Ps2
you skipped a Michael Owen's World League Soccer 99
uefa champions league series
There's a game I've been trying to find for years, maybe anyone could help?
I remember it as a regular football game but it had punches (literally, like boxing punches) and...flying kicks. I think doing it would be a red card or not depending on setting or a game mode... It wasn't anything super abstract like football and wrestling combination :P. Just a football with those weird brutal moves. It's kinda blurred in my memories, but I'm 99% sure it was a PS1 game. It was rather a crap game (remember it as quite buggy) and totally not a mainstream title.
I can't recall a title, couldn't find it with Google and would love to play it again 🥲
Are you thinking of Chris Kamara's Street Soccer? I don't think that had punching though but it was pretty brutal with the tackles.
There was a game like this on PS2 called Red Card
@@Tafeafc Thanks for suggestion mate, but that's not the one.
@@Alex-sv8th Thanks man, that's probably the closest I ever got to what I remember, but don't think that's the one. I'm actually starting to believe that I just made this game up in my head, lol.
What I think it looked like, was more like a really bad approach on a regular football/soccer game. It wasn't anything like a fantasy twist with power-ups, slow motion etc. It was just a glitchy ISS/FIFA alike game, with a feature of punches and karate jump kicks. I even feel like I remember the button combination being □ + × for a punch and □ + ○ for a kick. By default those moves would get you a red card, but it could've been disabled in settings.
Back then, the main source of games here in Poland was people selling pirate cd's on marketplaces and sometimes they were "edits" or some homebrew stuff. Maybe what I remember is just some niche amateur production sold in 10 copies :D.
Puma Street Soccer?
Ueffa challenge… champions league …
No Three lions, Shameful!
World cup 98, release year 2001 , lol what
winning eleven 3 ?????
The best football game of it's time makes number 10 on the list? You have no clue about football and videogames....the list should be like:
1. Pro Evolution Soccer
2. International Soccer Pro Evolution 2
3. International Soccer Pro Evolution
4. FIFA 98
5. FIFA WORLD CUP 98
6. This is Football
7. UEFA Champions League 1989/1999
8. Libero Grande
9. FIFA 99
10. FIFA 2000
Actua soccer 🎉
