    This, then tripping in front of MSG crowd on his rookie debut followed by an uneventful nhl career thus far… unfortunate sequence of events.

      Those are basically his highlights. I think he scored a total of 8 or 9 goals his whole career. Will Cuylle who the Rangers traded Anderson for crushed those stats in one rookie season

    He earned it, so it's his choice to do whatever with it. He can burn it, eat, or throw it. It's his. Players when the get the silver anyways put it away then don't touch ever again so why does it matter. And he is just a young kid on the age. He will mature over the years.

      So if that is the case, why did the rest of the team not follow suit? Oh right, because they were sportsmanlike, unlike their captain. They were all crying, but they still wore their medals and stood through the victory handshakes. There is a difference between losing with class and losing like a poor sport.

    Not sure what to make of this. To most of the world, that would look like poor sportsmanship. Not an honourable way to behave. Does it make more sense from a Swedish perspective?

    • @UnchartedfunLL
      @UnchartedfunLL 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m not Swedish but I do understand Lias’s mindset here. He threw his medal into the crowd because he simply didn’t want it. He fought soooo hard in the championships but only to come in 2nd. For him, that’s a failure even though 2nd place is theoretically really good. What a lot of people don’t understand is that there are hockey players in which hockey means everything to them. For players like Lias, it’s all about winning the championship and hopefully hoist that Stanley Cup. These players are really prideful and have that competitive spirit in their souls. Just imagine yourself or somebody else compete in something they are really really good at (we’re talking contenders for gold) and that certain sport or competition means everything to them and when they compete, they fall just inches short of their target. As a contender, one would likely be very disappointed and sad because they gave their heart out to play but only to come in 2ND. The really prideful athletes wouldn’t embrace that kind of accomplishment and they wouldn’t even accept it. Thats how Lias felt and that’s why he threw his silver into the stands (cause he didn’t accept and didn’t want to be known for such an underperformance). Whenever one wins gold, they like to celebrate and let the whole world know that they are champions. It’s completely different with silver. Ever hear someone celebrate to the world “Yayy, we’re 2nd!!”. Nope, totally different. If he doesn’t want the medal, then why should he be forced to keep it? This is something that a lot of people are overlooking. They’re so worried about what’s displayed on TV and in this case, it’s not about how we feel as a viewer about that medal. We’re not even the ones who participated in this championship (so we have no room or right at all to dictate what Lias should do with that medal). Heck, we’re not even a hockey player or empathetic enough to understand what it truly feels like to come in 2ND in something in which you played your heart out. The point is, the harsh criticism that a lot of people put out towards Lias for his actions is largely unjustifiable because a lot of people truly don’t understand what it means to come in 2nd.

      @danielwerner86 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a Swede: No, it's definitely not a cultural thing or anything. I can totally get his frustration - you win the bronze medal and you lose the gold medal. But it's simply unsportsmanlike behavior - you should respect the championship and your reward, and you should avoid being a sore loser. However, being a bad winner is imho even worse - like the finnish player in the junior championship 2024 who skated past the swedish bench hushing the players. Or several american players who blew kisses to the mostly swedish crowd after winning. No team should behave that way.
