Its nice to see our generation rocking on! I started back in the day with samba, bossa nova and worship music.on my mid 30s we moved to US where i came closer to rock my music, scales and soloing.loved your video!!
Great exercise! Not only does it help with fingerpicking it also gets your fretting hand moving! I’m not quit 60 (one year closer as I celebrate my bday today) but I remember learning the notes in open position. I taught myself the “cowboy” chords by learning simple campfire songs. Love your channel! Happy Holidays!
My teacher used Alfred's Basic Guitar Method. I still have the book. My first sign-off from the teacher was 9-6-72 and my last was 11-1-72 (I stopped so I could by my first car a '65 Mustang).
Right on ! I also purchased the Mel Bay guitar book and learn some of that stuff but I did not continue and wish I had. That was 50 years ago....oh well
Well … I’ve been learning from the 1940s Mel Bay method, have finished the first book. Loads of good stuff there. It is specifically a picking method. My finger style is mostly from the 1970s Christopher Parkening classical method. And jazz chords I’ve learned from the 1950s Mickey Baker method and your videos. Got the method books during lockdown and they have served me well. As a kid I was familiar with music that had chord diagrams and that works well for my favorite folk, rock, and jazz songs. What I like about a “method” is that each lesson builds upon the earlier ones. However … after completing the first books, I’ve spent a couple years just trying to make those early songs sound somewhat musical. Clean notes, on beat, with a little flow.
I just turned 60 the first time i tried learning guitar was from a black and white Mel Bay book i was 12 i think Till this day i still know no scales Which i regret cause lately i been thinking about trying some flat picking You have a nice day sweetie
Thank you so much for all the wonderful lessons! Happy Holidays!! 🎅🌟🎄🎸
Happy holidays! To you too! ❤️

I thought so, but I still have the book and the guitar; the mustang is long gone.

Sounds like you have been enjoying the learning journey ❤️
@ I’ve been a learn-a-holic most of my adult life. Music is a steep climb, but like the little engine who could … I think I can.
