When the writher John Sullivan died, a big part of British comedy died! Just haven’t got a bleeding clue how to produce anything near this now! Real shame!
First time i have made this public but, when my father passed away, it was watching the OFAH dvd box set that kept a smile on my face. After alot of googling, I managed to find his managers email address and asked her to pass on mine and my family's appreciation to David Jason for the joy himself and the rest of the team brought so many of us - especially during the sad times. To my surprise, Sir David personalized a reply with his condolences for my loss and appreciation for the email through his manager - to me! He didn't have to - but he did! A decent man through and through in my eyes! :)

He is my favorite actor. I never cared for Del as a character because he's arrogant but that just shows how convincing his acting is. I always wondered if he was as nice as I hoped he was. I am happy to hear he is.

Sorry for ur loss brother. The show brought so much happiness to our household. It was my eldest brother who got me and my other brother and my sister into this show. We would be sat in our front room watching it together, all of us laughing as a family.
I miss those days, and I miss my brother!

It’s refreshing to see that everybody just simply agrees that Only Fools is the greatest British television show ever made. I doubt it will ever be topped. I’m only 26, but I feel like times were so much simpler back then even though I never experienced it.

Yeup, I see what you mean. Comedy just isn't the same these days :( And don't get me wrong, every decade has had its problems, some things about the past were better, many things were worse, but at the end of the day, you're right that things were simpler. For one thing the economy hadn't gone to shit lol, politics wasn't so polarised. Although I'll bet you in the 80's people said this about the 40's haha, "oh times were simpler back in the day" 🤣I often say the decade I probably would have thrived growing up in, or spending my early adulthood in, was the 70's lol. Music was better than in the 80's, generally haha. Women's rights weren't quite as developed as they are now, and the economy hit a real low point, but in GENERAL, I think this would've been "my" decade. I pretty much would've been able to live the exact same life as I have 🤷♀ And then I would've been around to see this gem aired ☺

Growing up I never had time for it. Now, however, I'm addicted and have been for about 5 years. Can happily fall asleep listening to Only Fools...
no matter how many times I've seen these, they still fill me with joy and wonderment at how John Sullivan can write such brilliance. And what great casting, just perfection.

I'm pushing into my 40's now and still till this days this classic makes me laugh and I been watching since my teen days, you can watch repeats after repeats and never get bored of only fools and horses.

The best comedy sitcom of them all. Got them all on DVD, and still laugh a minute all the time. Simply brilliant acting and written by the genius John Sullivan.

One of the greatest shows, i still watch this and I'm 45! Its so British, something America will never be able to bottle.
That "vot eez your name" line from Albert was perfect, great writing the way they introduced Albert was great writing but it was so obvious he was absolutely born to play this role, the whole cast were all just perfect for the roles, even the supporting characters. Never saw something on tv so unique as Only Fools.

This is the best ever sitcom, nothing will ever come close....i grew up watching this stuff back in the 70's...and just to add Grandad "Lennard " was good but Albert really was a great actor and punched way above his weight, he stepped in and the show was just as good if not better..not a simple achievement.
YES YES YES! Uncle Albert was my fave as much as I loved Grandad, Uncle Albert was so funny and even his facial expressions made me burst out laughing. Absolutely loved Buster. He made a great character come to life and his one liners were brilliant.

Why was there a warning of “offensive language”? This was shown prime time not after 21:00. There’s absolutely nothing offensive with Only Fools & Horses. Absolutely brilliant comedy.

Grandad was actually in 3 Xmas episodes . Shown around Xmas and actually have Xmas in the episodes. He was never in a feature length Xmas episode rhe I agree. Ironically most of opah Xmas episodes from 1985 onwards were not actually Xmas themed .
