Seeing the guys in just jeans and shirts untucked is a culture shocks. They are so coiffed and styled on stage. They could be in Tutu’s and little sailors caps they’d still be one of classiest groups in music.
+Richard Jean I know, he's amazing! I'm so exited, I'm gonna meet him and learn from him because I'm going to DelFest Academy in a couple weeks an he's teaching there!!!!
I met this man as a kid at a Cherokee camp ground on the res in NC. My 13 year old knees were shaking when I approached him..they were calling him onstage, literally. He still stopped, shook my hand, and talked to me and told me he appreciated a young audience of bluegrass fans. 3rd time they called he said, "We'll that's me" and went and put on a hell of a show.
Got to do that very thing at Delfest in 2013. It was about two o'clock in the morning; he'd been playing all day and decided to take a tour through the large courtesy tents. You couldn't tell that he hadn't just got out of bed from a good night's sleep. The Energiser Bunny in person.
Del deserved the singing reward for the year as he did qualify and his band never dissappionts in all areas please sign on your support for Del and his great band
I love listening to Del's program on Bluegrass Junction XM satellite radio, he's a funny guy. One time he was mentioning about how one time when was going to buy a guitar from a young guy who was a real hot picker. Del asked him if the guitar "came with all them notes too!" Or another time talking about hot guitar pickers and he said "my guitar cain't do that!" Great sense of humour.
I listen every week. Amazing how much his sons & him sound so much alike. They all are the softest spoken, kindest gentlemen too! I love how Del recalls details from yrs past of his over 60 yrs of traveling the world playing bluegrass. It's great to know his memory is sharp as a tack & I sure pray it stays that way-for the man has a ton of stories to tell & us fans love hearing them.
5 weeks after I had open heart surgery 3 way bypass they came to Cedartown Georgia was a great show the put on . Jason Carter is among the best fiddle player's there is
Alan is one of my favorite bass players. He holds it down and isn't flashy. Stunt bassists are great, but I'd rather listen to a creative line, impeccable timing and a solid foundation over strings slapping all over the the fingerboard any day!
I agree Ricky Skaggs was great...but this is the old music sung by the originals, and it's definitely more real to those who grew up with it. This version was great in my book. And it was just fast enough to suit me! :-)
The best version of Uncle Pen I have ever heard is Del Mc Coury’s. Before this I thought Bill Monroe’s would always be number 1. A pity Del’s old classic Blue Grass number “Take me with you to the mountains if you please” I first heard it back in the 80s in England on David Allen Country & Western Radio show. I am not sure if that was the real title or the song. But I would be glad to hear it played again.
Anyone know who's the feller in the background who looks like Captain Sig Hansen from that crab fishing boat in Alaska? Also, God bless Jimmy Martin and Lester Flatt for the bluegrass G run and God bless Del for adding that bluesy F note. Ahhhhhhhh
No way. The guy is so genuine. Just think about how long his boys have stayed with him. Most families can’t get along for Thanksgiving dinner once a year.

A Bluegrass legend playing a Bluegrass classic with his sons...Doesn't get any better than that!...
Keep that true BLUEGRASS ALIVE! GREAT JOB ON A GREAT SONG!!!.
Would love to have them come back for a show at Wherley’s auction in Glen Rock! Their hometown.
Could there be a nicer man than Del? His smile is so delightful. Can you tell I love him??
It does not get better than this. Del McCoury Band is a national treasure.
Jason Carter is one of the best musicians I've ever heard. His playing is absolute perfection. These guys are as good as it gets.
+Richard Jean I know, he's amazing! I'm so exited, I'm gonna meet him and learn from him because I'm going to DelFest Academy in a couple weeks an he's teaching there!!!!

You knew Uncle Penn was ready to go....man I love this. If more people listen to this kinda music this would be such a better world.
I absolutely dream of shaking his hand...:) you know you're a Bluegrass fan when you're 20-something and swooning over Del McCoury

Well Hannah, I DID shake his hand. It was soooo thrilling for me. I definitely understand your swooning.
I met Del lol he was what you’d expect... a gentleman!!
I hope you still are a fan... I know I am
This band has healing properties.
How so?
Just listen to them. If you aren't tapping your toes you aren't hearing the music..
Agree, heals your soul
Brandt M I keep seeing your comments on videos I watch on here I'm from Lexington and have seen your band several times keep on keeping on.
Salve for the soul.
A singing and a picking doesn't get any better than this
Del deserved the singing reward for the year as he did qualify and his band never dissappionts in all areas please sign on your support for Del and his great band
Del and his band play the best Bluegrass I've ever heard. Fantastic . And I ain't no spring chicken. Been collecting my pension twenty years or more.
Dad and sons...how beautiful is that?!? Del is a lucky guy and so are his sons...
Jason’s fiddle playing is superb.
These guys are a national treasure!

Love when phish plays this tune, but this is freakin GOLD!!
5 weeks after I had open heart surgery 3 way bypass they came to Cedartown Georgia was a great show the put on . Jason Carter is among the best fiddle player's there is
Man, this is good! No disappointment there...
Well, that was a real nice job there, Del and boys!
Del must have a Guiness record for playing that G lick a zillion times - each one, perfect
Being a hashtag jazz cat I often forget how cool different styles of music there are!
He's the BEST!!
This is America.
Don't let it get away.
God bless our heritage and culture.
Del has wide appeal with a range of folks. He truly is a uniter and a Healer and it's just his natural way.
God Bless this family, Totally blown away !!!
Man I love this tune
Those 2 brothers sure look their dad! A really good band!
Jenny Lynn to me that's where the fidd'lin begins. Del one of the Bluest of the Bluegrassers. Just perfect Del.
Just plain awesome, that's all; just plain awesome!
This the kinda musicianship and song that makes you wanna learn every single one of them instruments.
Terrific. Go boys.
Alan is one of my favorite bass players. He holds it down and isn't flashy. Stunt bassists are great, but I'd rather listen to a creative line, impeccable timing and a solid foundation over strings slapping all over the the fingerboard any day!
well said
Amen to that.
And, he finally got an IBMA nomination! #teamalan :)

The soooo essential Del and his well fathered sons...
Del 🎯 ✅
Focking legend 🤘
Del is not a flashy fast picking guitar guy, but his fills & G-runs are awesome. Great backup sort of guy. mos60
That's right, but look at the quality of musician he attracts. These boys don't play with a fool!
Don't get any better than that
Bill Monroe would be proud. Jason fiddles like Uncle Pen himself.
You heard Uncle Pen fiddle? 🤣😉 jk jk jk!!
The great Jason Carter on fiddle, Rob, the best banja player in bluegrass in my opinion along with Ronnie and Del? You are so right Mosrite60..
Once again i dont have words
